5 stars to Melika, not the Apple Store. I brought in a MacBook Air so old it should have been behind a glass in a museum. No charger. No password. No hope. Melika found a charger that predates several iPhone generations and helped me recover years of photos that I thought were gone forever. The laptop got replaced but my photos were held hostage. I basically came in to recycle a dead laptop. Melika respectfully disagreed. I am very happy I have years of memories with family and friends back. THANK YOU MELIKA! read more

I believe this is one of the flagship Apple Stores. It's huge and it's extremely busy. It's probably the busiest one in the Bay. I would only come here if you're already shopping in the area or work close by. It's hard to find an employee for help because they're all busy helping someone else. I've been an Apple customer for years and usually have a great experience, but my recent visit to the Apple Union Square store was disappointing and upsetting. I brought in a 24-day-old IPhone Air that suddenly stopped working. The technician explained the motherboard needed to be replaced. Since the phone was only a few weeks old, I politely asked if an exchange was possible. The store manager, Alese Rivera-Garcia, told me Apple would not exchange it due to the IPhone Air being the most repairable IPhone ever made and due to Apples carbon neutral footprint. I expressed that I felt the situation was poor customer service and said I would note the experience in my review. At the point, Alese Rivera-Garcia became visibly angry, walked away abruptly, and later returned very aggressive in tone and posture. She got extremely close to me and pointed in my face with her finger-- behavior I found unprofessional and intimidating. I simply asked that someone else help me moving forward because I no longer felt comfortable interacting with her. I immediately contacted Apple Coorperate support and to there credit, someone else assisted me and I was given a replacement IPhone Air, a complimentary MagSafe battery and a full apology. I appreciate that resolution, but the initial interaction with Alese was genuinely unsettling and not what I expect from Apple. I hope this feedback is used constructively. Customers should feel respected and safe when seeking help- especially in a situation involving a brand-new product failure. read more

I said I didn't want any credit for accessories because I have everything I need for the next 3+ years. He immediately gave me a "sour face", got mad, and said "fine, whatever". I came in because my brand-new Apple Watch wasn't working, and the store was not even busy yet every employee seemed to be standing around, chatting, laughing, and not helping customers. They told me to go to the second floor, where again several employees were doing nothing, but they still asked me to wait. I ended up waiting over an hour before anyone even acknowledged me. When someone finally spoke to me, all they said was "I'm sorry, we can't do anything. You need to make an appointment or go home and update it." Multiple employees came and went trying to "help," but it was obvious nobody knew what they were doing. They wasted three hours of my time, and I left with my Apple Watch still not working. I'm now at home watching YouTube videos trying to fix it myself. Honestly, if I were the manager, I would rethink the entire staff. After a year of very careful use of a $1450 watch, this is the condition of the strap. No chemicals, not even a pool or water! After waiting for an hour, I found an employee (no one even asked me why I was standing there for an hour) who introduced himself as a supervisor and said that since the warranty was over a month old, they would not do anything for me! Never liked here really don't like going here but what are the options. Had to go to get my new phone as the 5 year old one is acting up. The 3 hour conversation on the phone with Apple to purchase it is the first of many questions that leave me speechless as to how this is more efficient then being able to walk in a store, pickup an item, go to the register and be done. No - next day 3 hours at the Apple Store doing the transfer of data, the a drive to phone provider to have them switch the phone service for another 30 minutes. The Apple Store is a huge waste of real estate for the number of products sold out of the building could be a 1/3 of the foot print. The only reason to go to an Apple Store is pickup or repair- nothing else. There is nothing about that Apple Store inviting period. No pictures because there is nothing to look at but union square across the street for 3 hours while you wait. Gets old after the first 5 minutes. read more

Granted I walked in, knew what I wanted, Sahara and i discussed for a few minutes because I didn't really want the most noise canceling AirPods. She did a gentle push but didn't push back at all when I was certain. I might event keep the Apple exercise app subscription based on her sharing her experience, we'll see. Staff wasn't knowledgeable enough for me personally. After researching for a new laptop I purchased a MacBook Air. The sales associate suggested also purchasing a faster Air... What the associate failed to mention was that the MacBook air with an M5 is slated to come out in March. When I returned it and talked to another sales associate they defended the associate and said that they aren't told when products are going to come out. Super fun and super cool, just like you'd expect from an Apple Store in San Francisco! The place is huge and has two floors to boot - and of course they offer all the cool stuff you'd expect from the Apple Store (like classes and more)! All that said, I would say the experience was pretty consistent with other Apple stores as well, so I'm not sure you'd be missing out on a ton by going to a different Apple Store - but still - awesome experience! read more

I went in to get two replacement/upgraded iPhones for my wife & I. I was helped right away, by Lily. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She went through everything very clearly. She processed our trade in phones and set up our new phones very quickly. They even invited me, and others, upstairs for a free class on the new AI features and that class went into a class on how to leverage the new photography features. I couldn't stay for the second class, but plan to go back for it. It almost seems obvious, but I highly recommend the Union square Apple Store. Only wish the stuff was cheaper. ;) read more

I rarely need to go into the store for anything and in the last so many years I felt the in person services were good and friendly enough. I recently traded in my old iPhone and upon pick up I had to seek out someone who was not busy despite standing around and being near a representative waiting. Apparently another representative that needed something was more important than an acknowledgment and direction to wait or to another representative. Second time I had a quick question/fix about an annoying issue on my new iPhone and there appeared to be no interest in helping me find a solution. The person was rushed to finish our interaction and more interested in talking with their coworker than helping me find a solution during a time when it was slow in store. read more

While flying from the East Coast, I discovered that my five-year old iPad Pro couldn't be recharged. Made a Genius Bar appointment the night before, and went into the store the next morning to see if they could help. The technician assigned to assist me was LUPE. She was utterly wonderful: clear communication and understanding of my problem, then lucid explanations of my options, including, but not first on her list, purchasing a new iPad. I chose the new iPad route! Thence to sort the matter of setting up the new device using a backup of my previous iPad. I have very nearly a terabyte of data on my device, and was already juggling another appointment. At that juncture, Lupe asked CLIFTON to try to help given my time crunch. He, too, was also great, and tried mightily to straighten out my issues various. In the end, they didn't resolve my issues completely, but that was due collaterally to my time conflicts which weren't created by them. Despite my hardware issues, I would absolutely request Lupe's and Clifton's help if I could. read more

He arrived early, exactly explaining as he went along step-by-step what he was configuring as he transferred data from my old iPad to the new 1 I had just purchased from Apple. He deleted some apps I never used to free up enough storage space to free up a backup ability to a ""save". He even fixed a frozen "glitch" for a frozen app on my iPhone (previously unmentioned on my appointment)).. I was then seen by Garreth who continued the amazing experience. Made a same day appointment at the Genius Bar for an issue with my iPhone display. Was directed upstairs when I arrived, then directed to wait at a table. Minutes after I plugged in my laptop to work and wait, Rose came by. She walked me through everything she was doing and resolved the issue. Extremely polite and knowledgeable. I had one outstanding issue and asked Arturo, who happened to be walking by. He brought his next Genius Bar appointment over to the table where I was seated so he could help both of us at the same time. This was a carrier issue, but he didn't just direct me to the carrier because he knew how to address it. He was patient with me as I gathered the necessary info, logged onto the carrier site, then he helped me navigate the site quickly to resolve that issue. In and out in less than 2 hours w top notch service. I paid for Apple Care and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket today. read more

Came by to pick up my preordered iPhone on release day. Even tho I had selected a time window I still had to wait almost 1.5 hours in line! Next time I will schedule it an hour before I intend to show up. But once I got inside the store, it was a short wait to pick up the phone. I also needed to trade in my old phone so I could just walk in the store to do that. The line was only for pick up's of the new phone. I had to return a week later to do the trade in as my original trade in phone had an issue. But on both visits the staff were nice. read more

Apple Store Union Square. May 2022. I was fortunate to be near this location when my iPhone notified me my battery was badly degraded. It explained why my charged iPhone suddenly would drain to less than 20% in under an hour. After doing an iCloud backup, I walked in just after they opened without an appointment. I was directed upstairs to the Genuis Bar where someone helped me through the process of testing my phone and scheduling a battery replacement. Every time I was handed off to someone I received an explanation of what was going on. No one was impatient, rude, or impolite to me. While I was waiting I took a nice stroll up towards Chinatown. To kill more time I hung out in the green courtyard adjacent to the Grand Hyatt. Everything was done in less than two hours. I can understand how some people can get impatient and upset over something that seems simple and quick to take care of. It can be traumatic to be without use of your smartphone. When I was walking around Chinatown I wanted to locate a couple of places in relation to where I was - but no iPhone. I thought about getting a drink at Starbucks around the corner on Sutter and Stockton - but no iPhone to pay with my Starbucks app (I didn't want to spend cash or charge it when I had money on my app card). My advice is to be prepared to slow down and chill. Being involuntarily unplugged from the world for a short time is a minor inconvenience. read more

Strange, 1st world event today. My husband and CEO of our company and I were finished with a couple of meetings and walked over to the Apple store in Union Square. He had a plan to buy a new phone for himself and all of management team that didn't have new device and surprise them. While he discussed his options with a salesman, I went to the seating area to text everyone and ask who had the latest Apple phone. While I was going back and forth with the team, this salesman comes up to me and says I have to move from the seating area because he needed it for a demo with a few older ladies. I told him I was busy and didn't want to move until I was finished. He said Im sorry but the seats are reserved for demos only. I looked around and folks were sitting there waiting to be assisted as I was. He again asked me to get up and move. I didnt understand or believe him, however I got up and told my husband and we walked out. What a strange experience. Slow time of day and plenty of seats available but I had to go. Hmmm read more

I touched a Vision Pro display and was yelled at by an Apple employee for doing so. Next thing I knew security started coming towards me, but security was smart enough to notice that I was innocently just touching it out of curiosity of the product on the sales floor. The display is on a table with a dozen or so iPhones that you're allowed to touch and hold and play with. The idea that I got yelled at like a child by an Apple employee for touching something is so offensive particularly because I had just purchased an item from this store showing I was a customer. I can only assume I was profiled by the employee because of the way i was dressed or that this is in general an aggressive employee. Without music, life would be a mistake ---Friedrich Nietzsche I recently went to the Apple Store in Union Square. I went here because my USB SuperDrive aka my external hard drive that I use to play CDs and DVDs stopped working. To preface this review will say that I was always a PC guy for many moons. On my PC over the years had external hard drives that would sometimes crash and had to go to the Geek Squad to save my work at Best Buy I believe. So things came to a head when I bought a new PC and the whole thing crashed within a month of buying it. I needed a paradigm shift henceforth switched over to Apple aka Mac aka Steve Jobs legacy. I got a MacBook Air that was barebones like my minimalist lifestyle with a USB SuperDrive some years ago in Berkeley when I was living in the East Bay aka Oakland. It took a little bit of a learning curve to get my sea legs and get used to the intuitive nature of a Mac vs a PC yet from here on out I am a Mac guy aka Apple guy and won't return to PC with the exception of having an Android phone since haven't taken the leap to get an iPhone yet and seem no hurry to do this. Back to the reason for the visit to Apple Store in Downtown SF aka financial district of the City in local jargon or even FiDi in acronym like SoHo in NY only comparing SF to NY is like comparing apples aka big apple and grapes for wine in the Bay Area wine country as SF will never be the big apple. SF is a more temperate climate that goes to sleep early while NY is up all night with cold Winter and hot Summer. LA is more nightlife than SF yet LA aka Los Angeles aka City of Angels is a bunch of spread out suburbs while SF is a proper city. I have lived in NY, LA, and now live in SF so know from experience. This isn't a city comparison essay it is a yelp review on Apple in Union Square so..... I came here to get my USB SuperDrive looked at and had an appointment with Genius Bar aka like the Geek Squad yet free to trouble shoot and diagnose your apple products. Turns out my external hard drive was done. I needed to get a new one. They aren't cheap and was 80 something dollars yet the products here are top notch. Jonathan was especially helpful with customer service. He said he only used his USB SuperDrive aka external hard drive five times in many years. I put a lot of use on mine with listening to CDs since I am a product of the 90s and love CDs and DVDs for film as love film like Roger Ebert. Legacy. Using Satya aka yogic truthfulness of sorts aka one of the Yamas or observances of Raja Yoga aka Patanjali yoga of the Yoga Sutra that the customer service here was A+ yet one star reduction as had to wait a bit aka 20 min give or take to be seen. Luckily didn't have an appointment right after my appointment here. Being late is very bohemian and Apple is perhaps more bohemian than PC. Enough of me. I will be back yet hopefully not too soon as want to get some more miles and listening to tunes on my new external hard drive. read more

Shout out to Ana - she works in sales and is so sweet and helpful, listened to the issues I was having and went above and beyond communicating and working to come to a solution that resulted in the best outcome for me. I walked away with all the components that I needed and the items that I wanted in a much shorter time frame than I was expecting. Everyone at the store that I interacted with was so friendly- I was having some issues with my phone and had to go back and forth to the store over a couple days and employees that had helped me the day before recognized me and said hi which with the volume of customers this store sees was shocking to me. I told the overly enthusiastic "team member" my exact needs to the letter and asked carefully if they would please try to not sell me I didn't already fore mention. Well, the young lady was so attentive and charming I ended up with some head phones that cost almost half of what the 16 pro max did. I have avoided this Apple store since I was given erroneous information and given the wrong sim card set up last time I bought an Iphone here a few years ago. Well, now I returned, and it was pretty much the same frustrating experience... I was incorrectly told that using my Apple card to purchase a new iPhone would create a "Hard credit Pull" to my credit - even though I've had the Goldman Sachs Apple card for years. After researching this online... this turned out to be incorrect. They DO NOT do a Hard credit pull upon upgrading with your Apple card. This plus the st*pid QR code app that they use (which did not work for me for some reason - and I could not buy a new iPhone). This QR app just brings up a vague message to call my phone carrier WITHOUT stating what the issue is - and when I call my phone carrier - they have no idea of what I am talking about. I was left to spend hours between Apple and T-Mobile to fix this issue. Buying a new iPhone should not be so frustrating but between this experience, the previous one with then giving me the wrong SIM card information before, and then even another time when I got an iPhone that would create an electrical spark when I plugged it into electricity... it has been pretty frustrating when it comes to upgrading my iPhone device. I hope they train their employees better so I don't have to spend hours on my own every time I need to upgrade my iPhone, but I am not holding my breath. read more

Store employees, in particular Genius Bar employee Alvin, got aggressive when I asked them to explain a non-sensical statement, demonstrating complete arrogance and a lack of empathy with the customer. Manager and Genius Bar employee acknowledged three month old Apple product was defective but refused to replace it, despite having the product in stock. Apple customer service has fallen off a cliff. After 20 years, never buying another Apple product again. We are switching to Android. read more

He tested the sound on my new-ish Iphone and it came out fine. He knew from his experience working at Apple where the problem could be; a tiny accessory that I needed to use when switching my old phone to the newer model. Wonderful job! Great wealth of knowledge. Excellent customer service. He was so polite too. A local from the Bay Area! We were so pleased with the outcome of my visit!
