I went to Best Alterations at the recommendation of two friends. They had some simple tailoring done and were happy. Regretfully, I did not have the same experience. I needed my MOG gown tailored. This amounted to hemming, taking up the straps a bit and placing cups. The dress is a base later of satin with an overlay of lace. So, two layers of fabric that needed to slide over each other in order to move properly. I left the dress with a FOUR WEEK window for completion. On the last day - the 'due date' - I called just to confirm. The owner was not in and the person who answered 'could not find the gown'. Called a few hours later and the owner said 'yes, it's here. No not ready since it is not end of business'!!!...It had been 4 weeks. Went the following day. Okay, the hem was good. But that was all the good that I could find. The straps were way to short..and the cups were place in a way no human anatomy would conform. I was told to wait while it was fixed. The straps were let down. And the cups were still a mess. The 'arc' of the cups didn't align with either me or the dress. It puckered badly. And the small modesty triangle bunged and pouched out. I paid and left because I was afraid it would only get worse. Went to another person who very kindly didn't want to say anything..but eventually did. The cups were sewn into place thru the fabric..hence the bunching. They needed to be placed next to the body - and thus connected to the satin layer - letting the lace move. Also, the straps had been botched. In stead of shortening in such a way that the original shape (a bit of a curve) was kept - they were simply yanked up..and luckily enough fabric was left to let them down..but not as nicely as it could have been. As for the modesty shield...the layers were all sewn together in several different areas - making the little fabric triangle more like a solid shield. The current tailor is undoing this, making the triangle able to conform and 'give' to the dress. This was clearly a hurried job. It was left to sit for a month. Then a sloppy attempt was made to fit the bodice. Very disappointing. read more

Our first visit 4 years ago was great. I went downhill from there. They never complete the alterations on their promised date. Their Alterations are okay. However, if you value your time or have a critical event that you need your clothes for, avoid this place. The last straw for me was my daughter's prom dress. We brought it in on April 23 for a May 9 completion. Knowing them, I came in on May 7 to check if it was ready. They said it wasn't, but assured me that it will be ready by May 9. I mentioned we need it by 12 noon, and they said yes. We came at 2:40 on May 9 to pick it up. They have not started on it at all. If we didn't come, they wouldn't have started working on it!!! Very disappointed with this place. I brought in two pairs of pants for Waist, length and bottom of pants adjustments. They said that they would have my pants ready by a certain day the following week after bringing them in. I come in the day that my pants were supposed to be ready and they tell me to come back later because they were not done with my pants . I come back a second time hours later and they tell me the exact same thing that they're still not done and to come back. I was so angry because why couldn't they give me a call letting me know not to waste my time and gas in coming back. I go in the next day to finally pick up my items and they did not shorten the bottom so the pants still drag across the floor. They charged me 114 dollars for two pairs of pants and didn't even do everything I requested. Why do they charge so much if they don't provide that good of a service? Not even a discount for making me waste my gas in coming back and forth three times. Don't come to this place. Save your items, Save your time and Save your Money for someone else who will do the job RIGHT. read more

I have come here on 3 separate occasions to get several pairs of pants altered. Four pairs of denim jeans and 1 pair of linen pants with an elastic waist. All items were too big on my waist so I had them altered to fit better. Just impeccable service. I was so impressed, I always come here when I need to get something fitted. It was almost like it was untouched. I was most impressed by the linen pants. They are the most beautiful pair of linen pants I have found but I was so sad when they just didn't fit. Then I decided to see if I could get them altered so I decided to drop it off here and it came back exactly as I envisioned. The last time I went I believe the pricing was $20-$25 for getting the waist area altered. I think that's a pretty reasonable price range, I genuinely thought it would be higher - maybe they should actually increase it because the work is amazing. * Just one more observation: last time I came, I noticed how personable and friendly the owner was. So disappointed in the quality of the alteration and the service. When I dropped off the two lanyard to be put together I described keeping the yellow one intact and cutting the blue to fit the inside. Great. It will be done on Saturday. Well my first trip on Saturday it wasn't even started. They asked me to come back. I did. On my second visit, still wasn't started. They then proceeded to sew it together with the blue on the outside. Damage done. Already not what was discussed. I asked them to redo it with the yellow on the outside and I was handed the hideous Frankenstein photographed. I am so disappointed in the final product and it is completely ruined. I will have to pay someone else to fix the entire thing and probably buy a new clasp and leather section. I came to Best Alterations thru a recommendation but unfortunately did not have the best experience. The man at the counter (probably the owner?) is very sweet and kind. Walking into it I felt relieved. He had me try the dress on and we decided on where alterations were needed. He gave me a quote for $145, which was higher than expected but I told myself to get over it. He said it would be done the following Monday. There is a sign on the counter that says cash is preferred, so I told him I'd try to bring in cash when I come to pick up the dress and pay. I came back on Monday and it wasn't done, which was a bit annoying because I made plans around having to pick the dress up and had to come back again the next day. I figured I wouldn't have to call before picking it up because I was told it would be done by Monday. I called on Tuesday and was told it was ready for pickup. When I went, it was a different man at the counter. I was able to find $140 in cash but was $5 short so I asked if I could pay the remaining with card. I noticed when I had to sign the receipt that there was a service charge that he did not make known to me. Usually if there is a service charge for credit cards it is also mentioned at the register so they are failing to have clear information for customers. Also, when I tried the dress on at home I noticed there was a small black smudge on the sleeve that I could not get off so that was a bit irritating as well. While the man is sweet, I don't think I'll be returning for other alterations needed. read more

I must share that we have been customers of this tailor shop for over 20 years. We refer countless businesses to Lee. Like most tailor shops, there are hit and misses. Lee's pricing is a bit on the higher end compared to many other local places. We continue to drive across town and patronize this place because Lee always answers his phone and is pleasant. It is sad to see customer service from Lee, the quality of return product, and promised dates have gone downhill for us. These last couple of alterations did it for us. Promise dates were pushed out so many times without courtesy informing us before we got to the store. There have been so many excuses for the delay. He tried to gouge us on several occasions. I think he priced things based on your ability to pay. I am going to leave it at that. We will not be coming back or recommending our friends and clients. read more

Also, we had to call twice and clothes weren't ready. When they called and said come in- we get there and then they couldn't find them and tried to tell us to come back later. You called us? Went here last year to have a gown taken in and it was fine, and finished on time. I trusted that I could take another gown to them this year and was disappointed enough to not come here again in the future. Took in the gown March 2nd, was promised it by the 31st of the month. Went in April 1 to pick it up, and they said they haven't even started. Was told to come back April 3rd. Came in, and said they were still working on it, and to cone back tomorrow. I'm not sure how you can push a garment back THREE times and expect a customer to not be upset. It'll be my third and last time going there when I go to retrieve my dress. I told them I don't get off work till 6pm Saturday can I get it sooner than Saturday. He said don't worry we will wait for you. I 100000% recommend this place. 11/10. Fast, reliable & Great customer service . I called on the same day I was able to bring my clothes in. I called other places around the area to get the best price match and best alterations definitely had the most reasonable price. I had 3 denim jeans+1 mini denim skirt. As soon as i arrived at the shop I was able to quickly get measured on my waistband on my pants to be tighter along with my denim skirt as well as hemmed. . I was asked how soon I need them done but I didn't mind for them to take their time because I was going out of town. I Came back a week later and my clothes were ready!
