So my first time coming here was with a big group and I ordered chicken wings. Yes. Chicken wings, at a pizza joint. Just to see if they cook their chicken all the way before deciding on a pizza. They were good, probably not fresh, but freshly frozen and then cooked. I got a garlic parm for the sauce and that was ok! I think it was missing something. Anyways, today I decided to go with my family to actually try their pizza. We entered and someone greeted us immediately (that's a plus). We got our drinks ordered and delivered in a timely manner (another plus). Then she came back to take our food order. We got (in detail of how we received them): Boneless wingding with bbq sauce (the chicken pieces were cooked, but hardly any sauce was put on them, just a drizzle. When you order bbq sauce boneless chicken you expect every piece to be coated, just like a sauced bone in wing) Pizza Cupcake (they looked pre-made. We got 2 sausage and one pepperoni. The sad part was the inside was still cold. The flavor wasn't bad, but we ate them anyway) Italian Cheese Bread (like a circular flat bread with cheese baked at a high temp which formed a lot of pockets of air. That one was ok Nick's Favorite Pizza (the pizza dough wasn't bad. The toppings were ok too, but I felt like something is missing with the recipe. For me the alfredo sauce was just ok, but since it's already a strong flavor, I think adding the pesto at the end to garnish, (and fresh pesto) would be a game changer for them. All in all, the service was nice. My husband and son got refills, but I kept mine in eye view and never got one. Maybe it was because she was by herself for a bit before orders starting coming in? Maybe it was becauce my back was turned from her way. We'll go with that. First time visiting. Love the decor. One lone staff person by herself but it was something she managed with a smile. Great service for sure. We decided on the grinder and the meatball sub both were delicious. The appetizer was called a "cupcake" filled with sauce, meat, and cheese. They were very good and the breading on this was yum. We had a great experience at Bertoglio's. Our waitress (Corey) was awesome. Super friendly. I called to confirm they had a patio for dogs, and she was super positive and welcoming. When we arrived, She made us feel super comfortable about bringing dogs. She was super upbeat and helpful every time she checked in on us. She got us set up with napkins and a pizza stand before the pizza arrived. She noticed when we finished our beers and were low on water and offered more. She pet our dogs. She noticed my mom and I were using blankets I brought in from the car, and she moved the outdoor heater and lit it up for us. She kept checking up and asking if there was anything she could get us, and making suggestions. We all three agreed that the service was top notch. She's the biggest reason for the 5 star review. But on too of stellar service, the pizza was great. It has this extra crispy layer at the very bottom of the crust. Dry and crispy in that very bottom, but chewy and moist on top. Just perfect crust. I'd never had any other that compared. It was really good. The topings were also great. We had the Supreme. Can definitely recommend. It also made us really happy that they had two options for dark beer--Obsidian Stout and Black Butte Porter (both Deschutes brewery). A lot of places don't even have one good dark beer option. Would definitely return to this local gem. To top it off, the price was UNBEATABLE. We had 3 people, with three drinks (1 sprite, 2 beers), and we ordered a large pizza that fed all three of us with a slice leftover. And we got it all for only $45! $45 for a three-person meal is unbelievable. With service this good, and such a welcoming, comfortable, dog friendly patio atmosphere, it's a steal. read more

This place seems to have a following, albeit a fairly small one. Good for them. This review is unbiased and based solely on my two experiences. My first time walking through the doors as a pizza restaurant, I had hopes that the establishment had finally found it's forever restaurant theme. Back in the day, I knew the place as a Mediterranean Tapas Restaurant and Bar that specialized in small shareable plates. It has since gone through several dining iterations, fast forward to today where we have yet another pizza joint in town. My first pizza was a carry out order, a simple pepperoni and cheese. Once I got it home, was underwhelmed. The crust was overly thick, the tomato sauce tasted like concentrated tomato paste right out of a can, there was a pool of grease over the top (I assume from the cheese and pepperoni), and the pepperoni had no flavor. Oh, and did I mention - it took an hour for the cooks to prepare my pizza and hand to me? Decided to try again recently, this time we decided to dine in and see if things had changed since our first time. Walked in and were told to seat ourselves; there was one other party seated, waiting for their meal - so fairly quiet. There were two ladies behind the register, one I guess was the cook. One lady came around to our table and the first thing she asked is if we'd been in before, and that they had THE BEST pizza, we wouldn't be disappointed. We ordered an Italian salad and a large taco pizza - why not, sounded delicious. The salad was served in a plastic bowl and the dressing was a small packet of vinaigrette - it was impossible to toss our salad as served and was just lettuce and tomatoes. I was unimpressed. Our taco pizza arrived after waiting almost 35 minutes. Turned out to be just another "salad" in the form of a pizza, with some ground beef sprinkled about. There was way too much iceberg lettuce - lettuce was watery, cheese was just sprinkled about on top (non that was melted over the crust), and entire pizza was flavorless. Needless to say, I DID walk away disappointed. I typically like to experience an establishment at least three times before leaving a review, but truth be told, and with other pizza places locally that have much tastier fare, I likely won't be returning to Bertoglio's for a third try. read more

Have tried this place a few times in the past, meh. Same old sorry pizza as others (and we have traveled far and wide). Started seeing wonderful pics of pizza from them on Facebook recently that looked fabulous! Took a pic. Went there for one last time, showed her the pic, and said, "Can you make it like this?". Know they were striving for it but the ambiance doesn't feel like a pizza restaurant, almost feels like a wine cellar but even that feels off. It is so far from what I expect. The parts are also shaped like pizza slices which allow for very strange plate orientation. On the plus side, for those that care, the only people working here that I saw are women. Am guessing this is a woman owned business yet not sure, regardless its a small business which i fully support. The pizza was very good. Full of toppings and decent flavor. Update in response to owner: No one verbally abused the owner. There is not one receipt. Not one, that the owner, has as evidence, that my daughter spent even $1.00 of the last certificate. He also, had over a month to fix this. And make it right. He embarrassed my daughter, in front of her friend and he acts like my daughter is an idiot. She went to college, her last 2 years of high school and was on the Presidents list. She received a college degree at the same time as her high school diploma. I'm SURE she would remember driving from Tumwater to Yelm using it! She didn't use it. I contacted Seven, the owner, multiple times and jumped through his ridiculous hoops. I was nice, the whole time, until after a month of his hoops. He even made me show proof of purchase via my bank statement which I did so he could issue her another gift certificate for the difference (87.00) Now, he comes up with another story. I included picture evidence. Even though, he sent me a picture, of his cerificates, showing I purchased $150 each time. All his requests done. He never did as he said. My daughter, never had the last certificate, even in her hands. The pictures of certificates is Seven, sending it to me. Showing me it was crossed off. I've asked him, multiple times to show a receipt, that she even spent a dollar of it. He can't. And won't, because there is none. And if you look at the gift certificate numbers, that I bought, over a 2 month period. Notice he only sold 2 in between mine. So saying he sells 150 of them, clearly isn't being honest either. 1st certificate #301, second #302 last one #305. Hmm. Clearly, some dishonest business practices. After a month, yes I finally was angry, because he challenged my daughter's integrity. Original: I bought $450.00 in gift certificates to support a supposed friends business. I bought these for my daughter and granddaughters to enjoy. My daughter moved out of Yelm and didn't tell me, she was moving, before my last $150.00 gift certificate purchase. They told me they hold on to the gift certificate and don't worry. My daughter calls and said, she is finally coming in to use it. No problem they said. She goes there to have pizza, with a friend and to have a nice day out. To have the owner, tell her, she spent the gift certificate already. When she hadn't even touched the last one. A nice day out, for my single mom, daughter, turns into a disagreement over a $150 gift certificate. If an owner, can't even handle a friend's gift certificates, I highly recommend never getting a gift certificate at this place. Furthermore, I would get a receipt for all debit and credit card purchases. The last gift certificate copy, that he showed her, as his proof the $150.00 was used, was merely crossed off. NO RECEIPT or initial from my daughter, receiving anything for that ceriltificate. Why don't you have one receipt or proof she spent it? Because she didn't! Then he acts, as if he's doing my daughter and I, a favor by paying the meal, she was planning on using the $150 certificate on. ($62 - 150). When the certificate is $150. Thanks so much! Making my daughter feel like a liar. She didn't use it! You would rather, believe your huge turnover of employees, that merely crossed it off. I know exactly what it's like to be self employed. I was only self employed half of my life. You don't treat people like this! You take accountability. You have wasted hours of our time. And treated us both, as if we were lying. If you know me, I definitely don't need the money. It's the point. You made my daughter feel like a liar, over a crossed off, no receipts of her even purchasing food on it. I would be embarrased, if I was the owner. Enjoy the $85 leftover, that was a gift to my daughter and granddaughters. Im glad you think your entitled to it. You had a month to fix it. Don't believe the prices on yelp. We were heading back from Mt Rainier, tired, and ordered pizza on our way. We ordered 1 order of wings, chicken garlic pizza (medium), and a build your own pizza (medium with 2 toppings) which somehow added up to $71. We had already called it in or I might've just walked away. No receipt was offered. Not sure how come this place was so pricey when online the prices aren't that high. I'm pretty disappointed but I guess I should've asked about it since we had to wait so long for our order (despite calling in 20 minutes beforehand)... I don't know man. I have visited Bertoglio's with my family a few times now and it's always a great choice. I get a medium pepperoni and jalapeno pizza (just for myself, duh!). The crust is the perfect combination of fluffy with a little bit of crunch. My fave. They have regular gluten free crusts as well as cauliflower crusts now, which is pretty good from what I've heard. Bertoglio's offers take and bake pizzas which is awesome. You don't really get that option with most pizza places. The staff here is always very kind and attentive. It normally takes a good 30 minutes for the food to come out, especially with a family like mine where everybody orders their own pizzas instead of sharing. They have a few beers and ciders on tap to try as well as some wine options. read more

After riding the Yelm-Tenino bike trail 15 of us stopped for a late lunch. I regret that I didn't get the lady's name that was the only one working during that time of day. She was absolutely amazing! She did it all. Took our orders, filled our drinks from the bar, cooked our food which was everything from salads, hot sandwiches to pizza! Plus, she waited on other diners! We all were happy with our food and her exceptional service. It helped that we are a patient group and not in a hurry. We know it's unusual to have that many people in the middle of a week day but she was a rock star. The decor was interesting too! I would definitely eat there again when in the area. read more

Super-friendly-and-attentive staff, and we've always loved this building, but the pizza reminded me of the old Chef Boyardee pizzas, and didn't feel very inspired at all; and the hot wings came out soggy with zero crisp or crunch to them -- almost looked like they were boiled. They'll have to change things up a little in order to survive, which I hope they do. Yelm has some good restaurants, but needs more! (LOVED this place when it was "Bar Cinco" a million years ago, but that's a different story for a different day.) Ordered 3 large pizzas for a hungry group and the consensus was very positive. We ordered the Meat Lovers, Garlic Chicken, and Gourmet Veggie. The meat lovers was the favorite for this group of carnivores. Our order was not inexpensive for takeout pizza, at over $70, but it did feed 8 people and I was able to have pizza for breakfast. I was so disappointed in this place to be completely honest. Once a week since the COVID pandemic shut down the restaurant business we have been eating local to try and support our businesses. I ordered 2 pizzas and a an order of breadsticks from here. They let me know when I called that they were out of their house dough in the large so I went ahead and ordered to mediums. The pizza just wasn't good. I was extremely let down by what tasted like a bland tomato sauce on the pizza. And the breadsticks had almost no flavor. The employees were friendly and my ordered was done quickly. But I can't say we will be back here. I think there are much better places in Yelm to get pizza. read more

I went to this location in town this evening because my sister was craving chicken wings so we got 4 orders for ourselves and our children. When I got home I just knew my eyes were deceiving my as i opened the box to see I had legs in instead of wing...immediately I called the pizza shop only for the young lady who answered the phone to tell me that there was nothing she could do she had no control over those things and that I would have to wait to speak to a manager who would call soon and never did...this young lady tried to tell me the menu said chicken legs not wings and $27.50 later we feel we have been ripped off and that our problem has yet to be resolved I even offered to bring the young woman the food back as it wasnt what i ordered and not what I wanted read more
