We came for date night and to see a movie. The music was a nice variety of Indie Pop and 80s and 90s music. The windows offered a nice view. Everything would've been good except for the flies that kept divebombing our food and drink. Our server was very kind and was attentive to our needs. My wife started the evening with the deep fried zucchini. She had shrimp, soft tacos. I had the burger dip. We've been to Uptown Lounge a hand full of times so I was surprised to see that I hadn't reviewed them yet. Everything we've had has always been amazing! This time we got their fried pickles to start but didn't photograph them because we basically inhailed them! For our meals we got a baked potato and wings. The baked potato was the best I've ever had at a restaurant and I will absolutely get in again and again until they run out! While it is a bummer that it is 21+, we do love the atmosphere for date night when we get the opportunity. Our service has always been top notch with our food coming out quick and refills always being supplied. We can't wait to go back! read more

The food is always good, which is why we keep coming back. Unfortunately, every visit is overshadowed by the service we receive from Sarah. This is not the first time we've had this experience with her--in fact, it has happened on multiple occasions. On our most recent visit, a table that arrived after us received their food before Sarah even took our order. Throughout our meal, she checked on other tables several times but only came to ours once during nearly two hours. Later, a member of our party wanted to order dessert. We repeatedly tried to get the attention of the bartender with black hair, saying "excuse me" at least six times, but we were completely ignored. By the time someone finally came over, we were told dessert was no longer available because they were closed. This was especially frustrating because we had been trying to place the order well before closing time. When it was time for the check, it felt like Sarah waited until closing time before bringing it to us. As Mexican customers, we left feeling uncomfortable and treated differently than the other guests around us. We cannot say for certain why we were treated this way, but after experiencing similar treatment from the same server multiple times, it is hard not to feel singled out. The food keeps us coming back, but the service from Sarah has repeatedly left a negative impression. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that all customers are treated with the same level of attention and respect. read more

I haven't been to Yelm in years, and came by to visit family and introduce them to my partner. My Aunt and Uncle insisted on taking us to lunch here at Uptown Lounge, and who am I to argue? I got the smoked manhattan, which smelled and tasted amazing, and was quite the impressive looking experience. Pickle chips for an appetizer with truffle aioli were a great start. I went with the steak sandwich, tender meat on a fluffy perfectly grilled ciabatta roll and truffle fries as the side. SO GOOD! Absolutely delicious. My partner got a burger and steak fries and he was pretty happy with his selection as well. Beautiful decor, windows took advantage of the sunlight, excellent service from the moment we walked through the door. I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in town. read more

My friends and I try to dine here at least once every couple of months and we are never disappointed! Not only is the food amazing, our servers are always incredible and today was no exception. We've had Chase as our server a few times now and regardless of how busy it is, he's always happy, pleasant to talk to and prompt! They were clearly short staffed today and the manager, Wayne, was also working the floor and was also incredibly nice, prompt and pleasant! I always give this place a 5/5 but if I could rate it higher than that today, I would! Special shoutout to those 2 for keeping the atmosphere positive amongst the chaos. read more

Have to update my review after visiting several times. The food is always spot on (minus my medium rare burger coming out well done). My only reason for taking off a star is the service is super hit and miss. The last two times we have come here our server has been pretty bad. We stopped in 30 minutes before our movie and specifically told the waiter we only had 30 minutes and would just be ordering two drinks. It seemed simple enough. Fifteen minutes later he finally takes our order. Five minutes after that, we finally saw the drinks being made and then sit on the counter . Five minutes after watching the drinks sit on the counter, as we were actively trying to wave someone down to tell them to forget it because we were running out of time, the waiter finally brought the drinks over. He dropped them off quickly and walked away without checking in. Since we no longer had time to drink them, we asked the manager if we could take them into the theater. He quickly said no, we could not and barely stated they were understaffed with hardly stopping. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the delay, and no attempt to make the situation right. He didn't seem surprised or concerned at all. We ended up leaving two untouched $20 drinks on the table and heading into our movie. A complete waste of 30 minutes and $45 (to include tax). I want to give good review of food, but first visit wasn't great. Went on Sat afternoon. Ordered French onion soup that my husband said was salty. Then I ordered fish n chips and my husband tuna melt. My fish n chips were way salty and not meaty but rather flaky (I think from over frying) as well as my husband's dish was salty and a little smelly. A nice young man, I am assuming is the manager, asked how are food was and we were honest. He offered to try something else but we said no it's OK. They comped us the entrees. Uptown Lounge hands down has nailed every aspect into a Classy, Chic, Casual Environment and Fabulous Tasting Foods and Drinks. I also love that it's connected to the movie theater so if you want to do dinner and a movie, it's convenient to do so. It wasn't crowded when we went but I can see it getting that way especially on the weekend so I recommend going early or during the week. Their presentation and service is amazing and yet very personable. Our bartenders were on point with a great attitude and upbeat spirit. As well as being knowledgeable about the menu choices, it really made our first time visit to Uptown one of many to come! Definitely will be coming back. I have dined at the Uptown Lounge several times and the food is generally very good, and the service reasonable. i Hope tonight's meal is not indic of new management or inexperienced cooks. I ordered the steak Cesar salad. It comes with crostini and a cheddar crisp with a balsamic glaze. My sister ordered the chicken BLT-A which comes with fries. The wait was incredibly long: over 45 minutes. The lounge was not busy, with about 4 other tables. We were not offered the table popcorn , which at the time didn't concern me because I was looking forward to the salad. our server never checked on us for drinks or to let us know the status of the order. When we finally flagged her down for some popcorn ( we were really hungry at that point), and she brought it out after a short delay, immediately followed by another server with our meals. Though my steak bites looked a little dull (and I felt them because they actually looked cool), the first bite was tasty, if room temperature. I bit into a crostini and it was cold and stale-obviously reheated. I asked my sister how her fries were and she said lukewarm, NOT crispy. As the meal progressed, the fries became staler and my crostini fought back with each bite. The meat had obviously been microwaved, or sat under lights for a VERY long time before cooling again before serving. The server stopped by to ask how the food was and I said "this has been sitting for a long time." She was flustered and said " But it was the salad I was waiting on", which I suppose meant mine was cooked just before being brought out. Not even close to being true. I finished the meat portion and began feeling nauseous so I stopped eating the salad. I considered how long this salad had actually been sitting at room temps, and decided not to temp fate. I declined having a new salad made as we were dining just before our movie. The movie saved an otherwise awful experience. I would caution prospective diners to insist on freshly-made food items and not wait longer than 15 minutes for delivery. read more

We were seated outside and our server did ask if we were ready to order shortly after we arrived. We were not quite ready, so she took our drink order and said she'd return. 30 minutes later! The food and drinks were delicious. We shared the best coconut prawns, tenderloin medallions and loaded potato skins and each opted for the huckleberry mule - perfection. When she checked in on us, we ordered a second drink and she assured us it would be "much faster this time" since the crowd had died down (it was not that busy when we arrived). The table next to ours had a very attentive server, we were forgotten. About 40 mins later this time, she obviously forgot our drinks, but used the "we are so busy excuse" and then just said, "I will just cancel those." We said no, we'd still like the drinks we ordered. "Uptown Lounge" Interesting name since it's in Yelm buuut I get they wanted it to sound fancier than it is. When you walk in - it smells like popcorn. If you like popcorn great, if not it can be a turn off. Well it's in the movie theater hellloooo what did you expect?! When I went recently there were lots of kids going to the movies but it's easy to ignore that noise when you're tipsy. The food is decent. I had the filet mignon it was juicyyy & flavorful. I liked it a lot. My friend has fish & chips, she was pretty disappointed as it wasn't very flavorful. Again this is a restaurant in a movie theater we knew better than to expect a 5 or 4 star meal LOL. The burgers are overpriced at $16 each. They're also nothing special - you might as well go to McDonalds. Most items on the menu are overpriced. The service was good. The food came fairly quick. They definitely get busy. This is for sure the fanciest restaurant in Yelm... And it smells like popcorn because it's in the movie theater. Let that sink in... If you want a romantic night out, or to celebrate a special event I highly recommend driving to Tacoma or Seattle, hell even Bellevue to at least have that experience. read more
