This place rocks! I don't think I have eaten anything that I didn't like here. Every sandwich, salad, soup, pastry is absolutely stellar, and what's even better is it is affordable! If I had to choose, I'd say my 2 favorite go to's are the Asparagus and Harvarti Panini (add the chicken), and the Chicken Pesto. To be quite honest, I have practically drank the pesto sauce they serve...it's that good. If you're looking for a solid, delicious meal and love to eat local, Bertha's Cafe is my #1 go-to for lunch!! read more

The girls and I went for lunch and they introduced me to this gem. The cafe is busy, so make sure you have time to swing by. Although it was busy, they took our order pretty fast and brought it out within minutes! It's tucked away in the back of the shopping plaza and is a bit small inside but it adds to its charm. The food they offer is a variety of salads, wraps, and sandwiches. I nabbed the cobb wrap and a peanut butter fudge brownie. Let me tell you, that cobb wrap was perfection. It was packed to the brim with egg, lettuce, avocado, bacon and delicious crumbles. It even came with a small cookie on the side. I decided to eat half since it was so huge, I was filling up fast. I wanted to leave some room for the brownie and boy did it not disappoint. It was rich but not overly chocolatey either. I told my husband about it and now he's begging me to bring some home. After reading the great reviews, I stopped into Bertha's for a quick breakfast. I had the roasted tomato, pesto, and egg sandwich. It came with a small side breakfast cup of fruit, honey & granola ( I think) It was delicious and served very quickly. The coffee was good too. It's a cute place with reclaimed wood tables & splashes of pink. The gentleman that helped me was very nice, knowledgeable & helpful. The pastries in the case looked yummy . On the patio, I saw welcoming bowls of water for the pups. I'll be back. read more

Breakfast and lunch cafe, tucked into the corner. Some outdoor seating as well as indoor. I had the salami pesto Italian sandwich and a cup of the buffalo chicken soup (of the day). Sandwhich was good portion (enough to split) Clean and not a chain and good food. Plus,plus and plus I will come back. read more

I'm hoping that my visit to Bertha's was just on an off day... I really wanted to like it - and maybe I had high expectations but shouldn't I since Bertha's has a 4.5 star average on Yelp? I've been waiting for this new location to be open for awhile now, and I finally made it in for lunch yesterday. After studying the menu, I chose the Harvest Salad... $6 for mixed greens with candied walnuts, apples, Blue cheese, and dried cranberries - I modified and replaced the blue cheese with goat cheese and I added chicken for an extra $1. I do not recommend the Harvest Salad. It was mediocre at best. The chicken was nasty... I pushed that to the side and ate the rest although the apples had little flavor. I definitely had order envy upon seeing my friend's turkey sandwich. That is the way to go - next time I'll for sure go with a sandwich or a soup/sandwich combo. The cashier was extremely slow... I think it must've been her first day on the job. We were patient though. Hopefully she will get better with practice and the next time I visit, the process will be smoother... and I know what NOT to order now, so I'm hopeful Bertha's will live gain an additional star in my book upon my next visit. Perhaps Berthas for breakfast is the way to go?! read more

Wowza. At the crack of dawn I exercise. After that I'm famished. Thank goodness for a joint like Bertha's Cafe. (Which, by the way, is dangerously located across the street from my gym.) I Yelped for something that would be open, super close and offer food at 7:35am. This adorable place is located on the far west corner of a shopping strip. After quickly ordering the Turkey Jalapeno Egg sandwich ($5.95!) and customizing it without charge I enjoyed the indoor seating area. (Outdoor seating exists and is quite quaint.) So out comes a beast of a sammie. The eggs are perfectly made for me. I love an easy over egg. (Check.) The cheese isn't out of control on this, just enough to give me tingles. (I like cheese, just not associated guilt.) A balanced amount of avocado with just a touch of jalapeno mayo. (I would eat avocado in my sleep.) Did I save half for later? Um, no. It was divine. I came during an off peak weekday. Traffic was robust even at this early time. I suspect it can be tight to find a seat. However! Sandwiches can be quickly made to go, perfect for that office bite. Yummy stuff here! read more

Bertha's is the Best! Bertha's is a locally owned breakfast lunch spot and without question, Bertha's is a gem. The food is always fresh, delicious, service is quick, and the staff always has a smile. If you have a chance to stop by Bertha's don't be discouraged by the strip mall location, because Bertha's makes up for their location with excellent food. There is a nice sitting area outside weather permitting and plenty of seating inside. Bertha's baked goods are fantastic. You even get a small chocolate cookie if you order a sandwich. I have to say Bertha's cookies are fantastic. You won't find better cookies anywhere this side of your mother's kitchen. I had the club sandwich/fruit salad and it was delicious, the sandwich was loaded with turkey, ham, cheese, and all the fixins. The fruit salad was good, but Bertha's puts lemon juice on their apples and I think I'd prefer my apples just like they are. If you get a chance stop by Bertha's doesn't disappoint read more

REALLY good sandwiches!! Went for a weekday lunch - I had the Thai Chicken Wrap and my husband had the Roasted Turkey Sandwich! Both sandwiches were fresh and so yummy!! They came with a mini cookie (YUM) and then we shared a Peanut Butter Brownie!! Get the PB Brownie- it's rich, creamy, peanut buttery, and SO delicious!! Thanks for a wonderful lunch spot! read more

MY favorite lunch spot! Ways too many good options to choose from. I almost always get the half and half option. The breads and salad dressings are house made and I believe the deserts are too! Some of my personal favorites are: The roasted turkey sandwich Harvest salad Chopped salad The Roast Beef and Blue Cheese sandwich With every order you get a small little cookie. Perfect lunch spot! Most everything is under $10. Awesome selection of salads, wraps, sandwiches (breakfast and lunch) and tea/coffee. I ordered the chicken curry wrap and it was great! This is just 5 mins from the Biltmore so anyone that works in this general area of town I highly recommend checking out for your next lunch break. read more

Some of the best sandwiches in all of Phoenix. Unfortunately we've lived near this gem for over a year before we stopped in. The club sandwich was amazing, make sure you try the dill potato salad. My wife thought it was one of the best potato salads. Can't really go wrong with any of their sandwiches or wraps. Enjoy! read more

I can see this little gem becoming a regular habit. The service and food were both wonderful and I loved the comfy feel they have inside. I tried to finish their specialty a Havarti & Roasted Asparagus panini with ham and couldn't do it. It's enough for two. Next time I'll do the 1/2 & 1/2 option. The sandwich had a little spice to it; come to find out they roast the asparagus with some red pepper flakes and they roast their own meats! Add to that the delicious pesto mayo and the fab bread and I'm sold!! I must come back for a overly indulgent slice of cheesecake! Thanks Bertha & staff! read more

Berthas is that cafe that you turn to in your dire times of need. I'm talking your boyfriend broke up with you, your boss ripped on you, or you simply need to indulge in a to-go order that would make a spread of your bed. The best part about it is that it's comforting without the calories. It's. So. Good. The pesto pasta is to die for. Full of pesto and peas; it's sure to please. You can get it as your side, catered, or in a salad and it stays good (or even gets better) after sitting in the fridge for a few days. I've had the grilled cheese, the vegetable sandwich, the egg sandwiches, the roasted red pepper and goat cheese salad, the balsamic salad, and a few more salads on the list. Every single one of them is in the category of one of the best salads or sandwiches I've ever had. It kicks the nearest five star lunch out of this park! When you walk in, don't be alarmed. The setting, decor, and atmosphere don't match the food you're about to put in your mouth. Just imagine you're on a French patio and perhaps you can appreciate the quality of food you're about to indulge in. read more

Why had I not visited Bertha's before?!?! I have heard about this place for years, but I'm not much of a sandwich girl, so I hadn't been. What a mistake! This place is amazing. For real, I tried two sandwiches and a salad and a couple of their treats and they were all so dang good. They offer a half sandwich and salad option, which I ordered, and you can pick and sandwich and any salad. I had the Thai chicken salad (amazing, I wanted to lick the small container of dressing), and the turkey sandwich with the avocado and onion jam....this thing was so special and tasty. They even give you a little mini cookie with it! The prices were under 10$ pp, super reasonable for the portion size. I will definitely be back, I just wish they were open on Sundays or nights so I could go more often. read more

Excellent food! I often eat here for lunch as it is around the corner from my office. The food is delicious and always fresh. I like that they are local. However be warned they get very very busy during lunch and have limited seating so come here before the lunch rush (11:45) to get a table. Great for salads and sandwiches. read more

My mom and I stopped here for lunch and we both had the turkey sandwiches since it is fresh roasted turkey. They were excellent sandwiches and came with a mini cookie that was excellent and a perfect dessert. The fresh squeezed orange juice was great and reasonably priced at $2 for a small cup. There were a couple of breakfast sandwiches that intrigued me, so I'll have to come back during breakfast hours. This is A cute little place in the corner of the strip mall right on the corner of Indian School and 32nd street. read more

Today, as our bi-weekly luncheon with coworkers, we picked Bertha's Café @ NW Coner of Indian School Rd & 32nd St in Phoenix, which is about 10 min drive from our office. We thought we were one of the earlier crowds, but no they were already FULL especially since it's a very small place. But fortunately for us (4 mouths), table of 4 finished and walked out while we were waiting in the line to order! YEA! We each ordered what we wanted and sat at the table to wait with the tall number stands for each of our orders. Not long after, we got our yummy looking lunch. I ordered: 1/2 Sandwich and 1/2 Salad $8.99 - Roasted Turkey Sandwich: Oven roasted turkey with avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, mixed greens, Pesto mayo, Havarti cheese, Bacon and caramelized red onions. - Curried Chicken Salad: Curried Chicken mixed with pinenuts, dried cranberries served over mixed greens. And it was SO VERY YUMMY!!! Scrumptious! (**) My coworkers ordered: - Ham and Havarti Panini $7.65: Smoked Ham, arugula, tomatoes, Spicy Mustard and havarti cheese. - Chopped Salad $7.95: Mixed Greens, tomatoes, Blue cheese, applewood smoked bacon, bell peppers, avocado, chicken and green onions. Served with balsamic vinaigrette. Unfortunately, the noise was getting onto me... I could not hear what my coworkers were talking... I hate MOST of the restaurants are so loud, even thou in YELP business info, it says, Noise Level: Average... REALLY? I think someone needs to Re-REVIEW or change the category to: Level of Conversation... or something more to inform TRUTH about the restaurant BGM Condition! It is so annoying that it is almost impossible to find a restaurant with No BGM or LOW Volume BGM for casual dining... Although I do know at least ONE restaurant who has low volume BGM in Scottsdale, and one Italian Restaurant near Tucson with No BGM. We need MORE places like that... just like no smoking. Seriously. I don't know WHAT'S WRONG with the restaurateurs who think it's cool or OKAY to have music BLASTING!!! Anyway, sorry for going off the track... I did enjoy my Lunch at Bertha's Café very much, the FOOD (I would've given 5 stars...) and services were GREAT, but BIG MINUS on Noise Level... which is very sad. read more

Douglas was the kindest, most wonderful person. I was new to Phoenix at the time, and he talked to me for a while and made me feel at home. The chai tea was excellent, and the atmosphere was very calming. I got a lot of work done that day, scribbling in my notebook while sipping on my chai. read more

I love this place for lunch! My go to is the lunch special which includes half of a sandwich and half of a salad with a chocolate cookie and a bag of chips. I usually get the half of club or half of ham and havarti panini - both awesome, and really good bread. For the salad, I always get the goat cheese and roasted red pepper salad (love that too). Lastly, the chocolate cookie that they include with the meal is AMAZING. P.S. Very fast service too! read more

Loved my visit here! Came with a close friend of mine who frequents this place as he lives nearby. We arrived and he gave me the scoop on how delicious their baked goods are and his personal favorite lunch menu item. We split a roasted turkey sandwich and a cream cheese brownie. Oh my goodness! Sandwich had amazing flavor and the brownie was baked to perfection. This place isn't close to where I live, but if I'm in the area I'll definitely be coming back to try some other menu items. Kudos to the workers at Bertha's for the smiles, great tasting food, and great service while we were there. :) The prices were just as good as the food too which was a huge plus. read more

Quick breakfast grab near our accommodation and glad we checked this place out. MUST try their turkey jalapeño egg breakfast sandwich. It's mouth watering thinking of it! Also ordered their roasted tomato pesto egg sandwich and wish I added bacon. Good but was missing that hearty meat taste...I'm such a carnivore. Lol Highly recommend if you're in the area. If you're looking for a nice little local restaurant for breakfast, then look no further! Bertha's is where it's at! I come here often for a book club meet up. They have a huge table in the back of the place which is great for a large group of people. They have a wide variety of baked goods (I recommend the cheesecake and the mini red velvet cupcakes. Yum!) but the breakfast is the main reason we go. The waffles are so delicious and very kid friendly. Very fluffy and comes topped with whipped cream, strawberries, bananas, and candied almonds. The turkey jalapeño egg sandwich has a nice balance of spice and avocado and a nice serving of turkey. But my personal favorite is the Breakfast Wrap. The environment is very laid back and cozy. The staff is always friendly and they always have a smile on their face. Tip: if you're every there in the summer, you HAVE to try the Watermelon Lemonade. Food and service 50% of what it was pre covid. We Loved this place- Waited to come as soon as Covid allowed reopening- we were 5 star- sooooo disappointed - have tried 3 times- won't be back. Pastries are nothing like her previous delicious fresh options. All pastries tasted old and lacked flavor. The pumpkin scone had no pumpkin ! Brioche swapped out for dry buns. Heavy on salt. Service staff not friendly anymore. Came once an hour before closing- clean up was already completed. Pastries in plastic containers. We were treated like we were bothering them by ordering a sandwich. Really sad change. Maybe they will read this and change back how they were! read more

Cute little local wrap and sandwich shop. Service and food are pretty good! The cashiers were very friendly and accommodating. I don't get cheese or mayo on my sandwiches and they were understanding of that. I got the Club sandwich and it was pretty yummy. The bacon was a bit fatty but I suppose that's really what bacon is! Although I didn't care for the chewy bits of fat that I got occasionally. The food was brought out to us relatively fast. One thing I might add is that apparently there was a special that day with the club sandwich and they didn't bother to ask if I wanted it as a special. Disappointing because the special comes with chips and a drink and is cheaper than ordering all items separately. Seating is a bit of a challenge when you are there on a weekday lunch rush. Not sure if it's the same on weekends. The tables are small and they don't move! So there are no pushing tables together for more than 2 people. I believe I did see one big table that seats maybe 6-8 people, but it was already taken. All in all, it's a cute place with pretty good food. If I'm ever in the area again, I will probably stop by! read more

I was SICK of salads & sandwiches after eating EVERYDAY with my mom but let me just tell you - This place- AWESOME DELICIOUS!!! I had the watermelon lemonade and the lunch special where you can choose any salad and half sandwich for just $9.99 (deal) it comes with your choice of chips and a really good cookie I got the roasted turkey sandwich with Havarti cheese pesto mayo bacon caramelized red onions and of course greens and turkey. I got the chopped salad and it was amazing!! I didn't even know that the lady at the register was the owner which doesn't surprise me because she was so incredibly sweet. read more

GREAT little cafe. AWESOME baked goodies. I had the Thai chicken wrap and was very pleased with the freshness of it. The veggies added a great crunch. The chicken was thick cut - sort of like if you made it at home. All their sandwiches/wraps come with a mini cookie. Bertha's completely over delivers! What an amazing find. Stopped next door to get an oil change and didn't pay much attention as Bertha's is buried in the corner of the strip mall. But the place is very charming and inviting once you walk through the doors. Bring colors and copper pastry case are quick to catch your attention. Best of all was the Brioche Egg Sandwich. Light and fresh ingredients...like the sandwich could just float away. Walked away completely satisfied. Knew it was a great place the moment I sat down and realized all he casual business meetings happening at 9am. You can tell this is where people come to impress their clients. We eventually had to flag a different waiter down who was able to help us place the order and service us for the rest of our visit, she also informed us that this other "Waiter" was supposed to help us but she wasn't sure why she never made an attempt to do so after having us wait 20 mins and other tables were being serviced. We ordered Flordian French Toast and Elote Breakfast Burrito (plus a couple sides and drink) which were both really good, and filling. Prices weren't too bad for what we ordered and was able to take our mind off of the rather long wait to get helped. I found a great AAdvantage Hotel deal at the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort and booked it. While it was a great success of a visit in terms of AAdvantage miles and loyalty points, my actual experience at the hotel itself was less to be desired due to the customer service and a big snafu on their part. I also have Hilton Gold status, though as I booked the hotel through a third party site (AAdvantage Hotels), I could see the stay and the stay history in my Hilton app, but I did not receive any benefits for staying there, which was fine as I didn't expect any anyone. I arrived in person to check in and already reserved and prepaid for a King 1 Bedroom Standard Suite, which had a nice view and reasonably spacious room (but not too much larger than a regular room at another hotel). The room was certainly not upgraded though there was parking available right in front of the entrance. I did not receive anything else at check-in nor did it appear that I'd get my regularly complimentary water. I did pay the daily resort charge which includes high speed internet access, access to the Falls Water Village, an hour at the tennis/pickleball court, an hour at the afternoon golf practice facility, two hours for a mountain bike rental, 20% off seasonal spa services, and 15% off select golf apparel. While I didn't use it, I had easy view and access to the Falls Water Village where you could lounge and play all day on their sun-marked terrace where you could find free-form pools, hot tubs, and cabanas. They even have a 138-foot enclosed water slide. When I checked out, I was told that a bill would be sent to me shortly since I did it on the app early, and when I received the bill, there was a charge for my room at the restaurant at the top of the hill called A Different Point of View. The catch is that I never went to eat there during my stay (or at any onsite restaurant since I live in the area and had my meals offsite). I reached out to the hotel who insisted that I did go there to eat. I promised them I didn't eat anywhere onsite and that they need to look at the receipt and see if it actually has my room number. They confirmed it did and that this meant I ate there. I told them to find my name on it and let me know if it was on there. After several more back and forth conversations, they confirmed it wasn't me and would remove the charge. They then mistakenly charged me double. Then they removed one charge, but it took more than a week before they removed the other charge. By the end of the exchanges, it felt like they were blaming me for their own mistake. While the resort is aged and rather pleasant, there certainly are training issues regarding the customer service offered at this property. I do not plan on staying here again in the future.
