My boyfriend and I stopped here for drinks and snacks before heading out on a morning drive and I'm so glad we decided to try this new bakery! From the moment we walked in, the staff were so kind and friendly. The woman behind the counter immediately greeted us and asked if we needed help. I love small businesses that make you feel like you're a part of the family. Even though we weren't sitting in the cafe, I was obsessed with how open and clean it was. There's so much natural light and this would definitely be the perfect spot for a brunch date or coffee chat with friends. I ordered a belgian hot chocolate with oat milk and I adored how rich and creamy the chocolate was!! They made my drink perfectly and it stayed warm for hours while we were driving up to the pass. My boyfriend loved his Turkish Milk Tea, which he sweetened with sugar. I've tried iced milk tea but I've never had it hot, and the sip I had tasted of his drink was delicious! Neither of us had ever tried a Simit before and my taste buds loved with the light and airy texture of the dough. It tastes just like a sesame bagel and my boyfriend and I enjoyed sharing it. I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious and there are a lot of healthy options. My wife and I can split a dip platter and something from the bakery and feel completely satisfied. And given the state of prices at restaurants right now, Bernas feels like a really good value. How wonderful to find high-quality authentic Turkish food in the seattle area!! I stopped in on a whim and couldn't have been more pleased. I can't recommend the lentil soup, muhammara, or carrot and garlic appetizer enough! Everything we had here was delicious and we need to go back to try more! The cheesecake was a DREAM and I've told my husband he needs to get me a full Berna's cheesecake for my birthday. I really enjoyed this spot! The menu is a little different, so I wasn't exactly sure how to order, and the checkout girl wasn't able to explain the dishes. My only critique would be to provide guests with a bit more guidance on what each dish includes. For example, I didn't realize the eggs came with bread, so I ordered pastries as well. That being said, the food was amazing! Everything I ordered was delicious, so I think you really can't go wrong here. The food was good, but the service was extremely disappointing. From the very first minute the staff were unfriendly, almost as if I owed them something. I was also overcharged -- I paid $33 for two coffees and one pastry, and since they don't provide a receipt, you have no idea what you're actually being charged for. Later, when I ordered another dish, the waitress came over and said she had "just realized" that I had been overcharged earlier because they added a dish that didn't belong to me. She never showed me a receipt, never told me how much I overpaid, and I still have no information about when or if I'll get my refund. When I was leaving, no one said a word -- they literally turned their faces away. The whole atmosphere felt unpleasant and unprofessional. And the ironic part is that I had left a generous tip at the beginning. read more

Berna's is located in the western most corner of this lovely outdoor shopping experience. Let's just say Berna's caught our eye but mostly our noses!! Being new to Turkish pastries we didn't know quite what to expect. Upon entering we were greeted with warmth and smiles and a glass case filled with an amazing array of sweet and savory pastries!! Too many to mention here. You need to go!! We instantly fell in love with the olive bun. It's subtle and delicious the bun is soft and just perfect. On my next trip in they have a ground beef stuffed flakey pastry that has my name on it!! Get there and enjoy!!! read more

Came here and got some pistachio baklava and tahini cookies. The baklava was fantastic but the tahini cookies were literally like eating chalk--so dry and crumbly. I tried to break one in half because they're quite large and it exploded into tiny pieces. The flavor was great but sooo dry. I have had tahini before but never as a cookie so maybe that is how they're supposed to be? I did also think it was a bit expensive. read more
