I'm a bit confused by the mixed reviews because I thought this place was great. A roadside motel so thoroughly and thoughtfully renovated that it seems purpose built. For the price and location, it's hard to beat. The lobby is gorgeous and the rooms are sparkling clean and comfortable. Everything you need and nothing you don't. Just a big, clean, stylish bathroom and a big, comfortable bed! I loved the armoire: it's perfect for bags. Much more functional than most hotel closets/luggage racks. Minutes from downtown Lenox. It's a motel not a hotel. The front lobby is cute but the vibe is empty- the staff is vacant ;(. The rooms are basic and small and the bathrooms are nothing to write home about ... the beds are big but not so comfy ..... I wouldn't stay here again :( . I hate to have to amend my review but after having spent 40 minutes unsuccessfully trying to contact anyone to correct my issue, I'm afraid that I have to change my review and rating. I just checked my credit card and see that there are three charges from Life house - one appears to be from the mini bar which we did not use. And there is also a bar or breakfast charge which is also not correct. I will dispute the charges with my credit card but did try to call and deal with it directly with the hotel - but no one answered at all. Important note: one of the bar charges was for AFTER we checked out and were already home!!! read more

This was an old motel that has been completely renovated. The room size is small but the renovation was high end with luxury flourishes. They also added a very nice lobby, lounge and bar area with extensive outdoor seating. They provide modest but delicious food offerings and we made a nice dinner of the canned smoked trout and cheese board. They also have modest breakfast offerings. Our room was on the back side with no view but it was very quiet and we liked it. There were a number or in room mini bar offerings at reasonable prices. There was no in room coffee maker. The price was high but we booked a weekend in August....high season for Tanglewood, Jacobs Pillow etc. Overall we enjoyed our stay but the cost was high hence the four stars vs five. read more

A few items of note that led to our decision not to stay at Life House for future. I agree with others who note this is a glorified motel and not a hotel. I had let hotel staff know I'd be checking in at 8pm. When we arrived, there was a party or reception being held in the lobby of the hotel. It was packed with people. The kiosk we needed to check in and get a key was blocked off by the reception guests and not visible so we had no idea how to check in. There was no parking when we arrived due to the party so we had to drive around for almost 20 minutes until we got a spot. When we tried to use the kiosk to check in after eventually finding it the credit card machine didn't work we had to get through crowds to the bar where the person behind the bar eventually came out to help us check in. The Romance Package was not worth the extra expense. The sparkling wine was warm and the chocolate and fruit stale as they must have been left in our room for hours before we arrived (I had mentioned we'd be checking in later in the evening). We were one of the few guests at breakfast and we tried ordering chocolate milk (apparently the hotel ran out) then a chai tea and the hotel was out of the too. The menu was extremely limited. The bathroom had hair from previous guests all over the floor and was not cleaned properly. The hotel also is pet friendly but did not have any additional pet amenities like dog bowls. The customer service via text was non responsive to my requests for help when checking in nor did they respond when I asked for extra towels. Overall the price per night does not match the experience and standard we'd expect for $500-$600/ night. The lobby is very nice but the rest feels like a facade. We unfortunately will never return not recommend this hotel to anyone else. read more

This is one of the first times I have regretted being able to give a 5 star review, because this is a 10 star place!! We got checked in quickly, and put our stuff in our adorable room. Nice big bed with fluffy bed linens and a flat screen TV. Bathroom was nicely appointed with all the stuff you might possibly need. We had a fantastic dinner pre-concert...I had lobster Mac and cheese with a crisp salad and my husband had grilled cheese with short rib meat and potato salad. I had a Garden soda...really refreshing! Reasonable price and terrific with stellar service. Got back after the concert at Tanglewood, there are awesome snacks and drinks in your room if you are in need of a nosh. Requested a late checkout and got to enjoy our room a tad longer. The bedding was beyond...slept exceedingly well, with the black out shade and cool temperature in the room. Here's my shout out to Alex, who took amazing care of us...much appreciated!! My friend and I stayed here over Presidents' Day weekend and there were some things that this hotel got right and some that left much to be desired. The location of this hotel is great, as it is about a 4 minute drive from downtown Lenox. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable with Le Labo products which are a nice touch. Unfortunately, the room left much to be desired as the only lights they had in the room was a small desk lamp and a night stand light. The place to hang your coats and things was a bit flimsy to open, and not made well. Our sink also seemed to have a leak in it, and every time we would use it, water would drip down. The upsides of this hotel was again the location and they had a great restaurant and bar. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and both were very good. I would come here for drinks or dinner, but don't know that I would necessarily stay here again. read more

We went for dinner with a group of friends. My wife and I ordered two burgers with fries and two beers with a side of brussle sprouts the tip was included due to being in a group the check came to $113.00 this was definitely the most expensive burger I have eaten, it was good but not $113.00 good!! read more

This is NOT A HOTEL it's a tiny MOTEL. For 1300 for two nights this gets zero stars. The room was relatively clean but then again there are no lights in room so you can't see dirt. The rooms are tiny and beds uncomfortable. There is no one working in the hotel and no one answer phones if you have a question. You do check in yourself. There is zero security with a cat walk outside and dogs barking. The bar has no wine as they are waiting for delivery. So we've stayed here a bunch because it's an in-between our two houses and we have small children so long car rides aren't always welcoming. The rooms are nice for the price, they just remodeled a motel and put old school vintage luxury furniture. I've stayed in dingy hotels that cost more. The bed is comfortable and always appears well kept and clean. The Apple TV never works in any rooms we've stayed, we always had to login into our Netflix. The food is good farm to table style, but the bartender is also the server and is not good at it and seems overwhelmed if there's like 3 people sitting down. The management is also really bad. The check in process has flaws, there's no one to contact if you need anything or have an issue. They charged us an extra $30 on an $130 room because we wanted a King bed but it was $130 on their website, and the double was $115...so odd since we've never had an issue getting a king instead of a double here and always made the reservation day of. The manager basically had an argument with my husband in front of another guest. I also would not stay here if you're looking for a more hotel experience. If you're never going to be at the hotel, and you just need a place to sleep this is a fine option, or a good pick for a young couple. My suggestion is they need to liven up their hospitality with the summer months coming, or they're in for a rude awakening. read more

Incredibly disappointing experience. Things started off well, adorable lobby, room was nicely decorated and clean, we really enjoyed the location. However, midway through our stay our toilet broke, was continuously running and wouldn't flush. We contacted the number provided to us at the beginning of our stay. We received a response that it would be fixed while we were out at dinner, this was 5pm. When we returned at 7pm nothing was fixed and it didn't appear anyone had been to our room. We reached out to that same number 3 more times as a bathroom is essential to staying in a hotel! No answer, after 3 more hours we called the hotel phone number and finally got someone on the phone, this was the "general manager", Alex. He stated "oh someone came to fix the toilet but they said it wasn't fixable". Never did he update us on this, and now it's 10pm at night! He said we could use the lobby bathroom for the rest of our stay..... He was incredibly rude and condescending. He also stated "I never received your other text messages", which is clearly a lie as that's been the way to communicate throughout the whole trip. We still paid full price for the visit and were left with the only option that would have a bathroom which was to pack up and move from our double bed room to a single bed room at 10pm at night.... Very disappointed in how this was handled, the gaslighting, the condescending remarks such as "your feelings are your feelings".... It wasn't about feelings it was about having a bathroom to use during the stay we paid for. I highly recommend getting someone besides Alex to represent your business. read more

Don't do it! We are beyond embarrassed. We have a guest from Belgium and we recommended this place due to the Belgian owner. Belgians understand hospitality very well so we expected something decent. Well....this is even below US standards. We arrived, no one was at the desk, it was self check in, we had to make our own key, key didn't work, we called the number provided, no one answered, left a message, no one called back, woman walks into lobby from outside after 20 minutes waiting in the lobby. She just walks past us and says nothing. We then ask her if she works here, she said yes and I quote, "do you need something?" I couldn't believe how ridiculous this was. No sorry, no can I help you, no smile. NEVER EVER again will we recommend this to anyone. We have many guests all year round. Oh well! read more

First, the good news: Friendly staff, albeit there are very few of them. The motel is woefully understaffed. The renovated lobby and outside dining area are attractive and tastefully done. Now the negatives: The rooms are small, dark, dingy and poorly maintained, if maintained at all. I suspect they are what you might expect to find at a budget motel. While we were there during high season in the Berkshires, the exorbitant rates ($600+) are impossible to justify, other than supply and demand. read more

My best friend and I came here for a "Girl's Getaway" overnight. We had such an awesome experience that I felt the need to post a review. The room was so cute,had all the modern amenities and was CLEAN. The lobby is gorgeous and the outdoor patio is dreamy. The 3 staff members were all gracious hosts and truly understand the words "customer service". Bobby was so patient helping me get my TV working. It was so nice, here that my friend and I lounged around on the patio all morning having coffee and reading. I can't believe the price for such a lovely spot. We have stayed in many high end places, and this hotel was an amazing find for an incredible price. Kudos!!!! read more

Life House is a wonderful place. The rooms are cozy enough but the really great thing about it is their Club Room with its cathedral-like, vaulted ceiling and golden lighting from three elegant chandeliers. Not to mention that the restaurant, helmed by Chef Dawn, has to be one of the best in Western Mass. Whether staying for après ski, summers at Tanglewood, whatever, LH is among the best choices in the area. Loved it! read more

The general Manager ALEX is very unprofessional. The other staff were great, but ALEX is clearly self observed and very rude to guest. I watch him berate an employee while also attempting to seduce the bartender. I am 55 years old and have stayed in other lifehouse hotels, but never have I witness such a terrible leader ruining such a lovely vibe. Lifehouse deserves better. read more

I would think for what they charge for drink/cocktails, we wouldn't have to chase around and find someone to wait on us. Oops, never mind. There is no service. This review is only about the restaurant, not the hotel. We so badly wanted to love this place!! The restaurant is good in theory but the food and service were.... So disappointing. The flatbread and salads were overpriced and lacking any flavor. We would have been happy to look past that and try again if it weren't for the service. The server and hostess asked where we were from and then rolled their eyes and said "of course you are" when we answered (not endearingly). They complained to us that visitors were getting in the way of them enjoying the restaurant/area for themselves and other locals. It was unwelcoming and for the price we would've expected much more. Having to go outside to access the room from lobby is a little downer but understandable since it was converted from a roadside motel - and very well at that. Restaurant was closed and got the feel that it's not on their focus list, so plan on going into town for dinner and be wary of early closing times. Affordable and nice. Go for it. read more
