Antonio and William were personable, informative and easily made us feel comfortable as we did a walk-in disposal of the hard drive from an old iMac computer. The process was easy and the fee reasonable and it is very satisfying to see the hard drive shatter and be shredded before your eyes. Easy to get find on frontage road between Gilman and University in Berkeley. The shredding is done in front of you. Banker's Boxes are dumped into shredder and you can take the empties home. Had a couple of boxes part full so was charged for fewer boxes. Very accommodating and fast service. No appointment needed. read more

For a Virgo on a cleaning frenzy, this place is HEAVEN!!! I had six boxes of confidential info that needed to be shredded. I did not want to sit in front of my little home shredder for days dealing with it. So, off to Yelp and I find this place. It's fantastic!!! Great service, really friendly people, and inexpensive. 6 boxes shredded in front of my eyes in about 10 minutes. Nice. The more boxes you have the lower your price. For me, each box was $7. The only question I have for myself is why did I wait so long to get 3 bankers boxes of old tax returns, bank and brokerage statements shredded? Probably because I thought it would be a pain in the ass. (I hadn't thought to consult Yelp before going there.) And, I wanted to see it shredded. The places in Marin that do this have you leave the papers and hope they actually destroy them. I certainly wouldn't leave my old tax returns sitting around like that. But, it was so easy at Automatic Response. I drove in and parked... I could have driven right into the work area. But, I used a cart they had and it was easy. A really nice guy asked if I wanted to keep my boxes - which I did - then he shredded the contents in just a few minutes. Totally painless. I was there probably a total of 6 minutes - and it was only 21 bucks for what I thought was a lot of shredding. read more

Tried other shredding firms including ones that come out with a big truck- fine if you have a lot of old papers but $$$ if you only got a few boxes that are taking up valuable space and you are tired of walking around. No similar place in Sonoma county so came down to Berkeley, ran a few other errands, and came here do the deed. Friendly greeting, quoted up front, and done in less than three minutes tops. Teenage son was amused and enjoyed the giant shredder. Highly recommended if even just for the cool staff. read more

This place exceeds my expectations by far! I read all the great reviews on Yelp about this place & took over lots of bags full of papers. The gentleman was super nice & helped load our bags onto a cart he gave us. He was fast, efficient, and gave us an amazing deal. I expected to have paid twice that amount. He even tikd us about all the other items they accept as well (electronics, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, CD's, floppys, etc). This place is my new best friend which will help me keep my house from clutter. Yay for this amazing place!!!! I'd give them more than 5 stars if I could. read more

As the other Yelpers proclaim, this place is the best. It's easy to go there to shred your documents, and it's super inexpensive. I brought some shredding elsewhere and it was twice as much - maybe three times as much! They also recycle old phones, computers, and other technical equipment cheaply or even for free. This place deserves all the great reviews. You drive right up to the conveyor belt with your bags or boxes of documents, and they eyeball how many "boxes" you have. Then, before your very eyes, your piles of papers are shredded. For $14.00, I shredded ten years of tax records and other stuff that had just been lying around because it had personal information I didn't want to put in the trash. It was fun and psychologically beneficial. Plus, the people are so nice. They really get what a great thing this is and enjoy doing it. They even have a little dog named Caesar who greets you when you go into the office to pay.... All in all, and outstanding service and experience. And so much better than sitting with a cheap home shredder doing 3 pages at a time... read more
