Their pay by phone system is much better equipped and it is helpful to have your dashboard with your bill online open so you have all the information to pay. The Kubra phone system is great. However I do have a grievance with them regarding their driver who ran a red light this past Wednesday November 5th, 2025 between the hours of 4:30PM - 5PM by the intersection of Appian Way and Fitzgerald Drive in Pinole! I got a picture of the driver's license plate since it was my turn to go on the green light and this driver sped through and would've hit me and my 7-year-old son if I wasn't paying attention. EBMUD drivers should have a responsibility to drive safely and not run red lights as they are representatives of the EBMUD company. I hope this driver receives a reminder to drive safely as there are people and families on the road trying to get home!

I ended up finally booking the garden for a large party this month and was impressed by the experience from start to finish. It's hard to believe that it's entirely volunteer-led! Everyone I met was clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the house, its history, and its preservation. Making a reservation was easy and the coordinators were kind and courteous during the whole process. The day-of place settings were beautiful and the food was some of the best I've had for tea in addition to being generous and variable in servings. There were even some kid-friendly items (including some non-caffeinated beverages) as I had a few young guests in attendance. The tour we had following our tea service was detailed and informative without being boring. The house itself is incredibly preserved and in immaculate condition. It was great learning about the history of the Pardee family and their influence in the Bay Area, California, and beyond. There were some interactive parts too including getting to touch some antique items and listen to some hand-cranked music players. I will undoubtedly be back sometime and highly encourage anyone who likes good food and vibes or learning about local history to book a visit themselves. If you have people from out-of-town visiting, the Pardee Home is an excellent first choice for doing something low-key and private but still touristy.

The employees were okay, but the waiting in line was something else. It's almost similar to the lines at DMV. This time around the line moved quicker. I had to talk to an officer on duty about a crime being committed on one of the streets in Oakland. It was one of those breaking into a vehicle and taking a back pack from the back seat. I took a few photos and showed them to the officer. He is aware of the crime, as several other people reported the crime involving the same vehicle - a black VW. I can only speculate that there is an ongoing investigation occurring. He thanked me for reporting it. If you see this vehicle, do not approach and be safe out there.

They are genuinely useless, never actually attempting to help the people, more concerned with getting their overtime hours, and stealing money from the valuable pockets of the taxpayer. I have never seen an Oakland PD officer be of any assistance to any civilian ever. They exist to simply be afraid of. Nothing more, nothing less. I have made multiple reports to the Oakland PD about theft, destruction of property, and even a violent mugging. None of these have ever moved past the original report. Because Oakland PD is not here to help. They're here to make money. And the dispatchers? Don't even get me started. They are genuinely so f*cking incompetent I feel genuinely deep sorrow for anyone who calls with a genuine life-threatening emergency. You'll likely still be advised to report it online. Oakland PD is representation of the attempted destruction of the culture and community of Oakland. Another force simply here to further make your life difficult.
