I walked in on a weekend afternoon and asked about builder gel and gel-x, [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gigi recommended I get gel-x since my natural nails are really short.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My nails came out so beautiful and they're exactly what I asked for. 10/10 recommend!

Tried this place after walking by a few times - the worst decision I could have made! I went in for a simple eyebrow waxing. I knew something wasn't right when the tech had me lay down? The roughness of the wax was felt a few hours after. There were scab marks under my eyebrow and between my eyelid?? It burned so bad when I washed my face and even more when I put Vaseline on them to soothe the pain. Do not go here for eyebrow waxing!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Awful! I went back twice and the second time was even worse than the first.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My color was supposed to be matching. Everything chipped within a day. The shaved my nails down so thin SIX of my nails broke within the first three days. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not to mention rude and takes way too long to do the service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Two hours for a mani pedi is ridiculous. Especially when you mess up SO BAD.

I recently moved to the area and have been looking for a trusty nail salon. I decided to try Pinkies because it looked clean and the Yelp reviews were overall positive. I'm happy I tried it! I booked an appointment day-of and requested a dip manicure. As soon as I arrived, Tom greeted me and directed me to the selection of colors so I could choose the one I wanted while he finished up with the client he was working on. After about 15 minutes, it was my turn. Tom gave me a complimentary mimosa (a very heavy pour!) and chatted with me about life while he did my nails. The whole process was quick, but thorough. Tom was sweet and friendly; he loves to joke around! While I was there, a few people came in who seemed to be regulars. It was clear they knew Tom well and had been to Pinkies many times. I was happy to see that people trust Tom's work! I'm very happy with the results of my manicure. Tom understood exactly what I wanted in terms of the nail shape, and he delivered. My dip manicure came out to be $55 including removal of my previous nail color. It seemed like the pricing situation wasn't very intuitive; Tom mentioned it depends on various factors, including nail length, so I'd be interested to see what price I'm quoted next time. Overall, I'm very happy with Pinkies and will be returning!

Oh my God, Gigi did SO GOOD!!!! She got me in same day, was super friendly, and it came out literally exactly the way I wanted. Everything from the color to the shape to the design was executed flawlessly. Highly highly recommend.

Definitely a 5 stars! I love the reshape and the color is perfect! I was surprised how they removed and redo the whole thing after they think it's not perfect enough, even though all ten nails are done and they could just let me pay and go (Cuz even I thought it was perfect, wasn't thinking need a redo). I didn't feel any pain during the removal process too. Will definitely come back again!

First off, this place is in a corner, sometimes it's hard to spot. It's a small pace with a few ppl that can get their nails done at a time. I will recommend this place as the first time I went my dip nails were amazing. They lasted 7 weeks and she did such a great job. The second time I went. My dip nails kept getting caught in my hair and it was really irritating me and I couldn't stand it anymore I had to go to another salon to remove and redo a week later I wasn't in town for them to redo them themselves so I will give them the benefit of doubt and come back to do my nails again next time. I'd recommend LiN. She was amazing.

The atmosphere of the place is really relaxing, the owner really does his best to make you feel welcome and relaxed. The pedicure itself was great too with very little wait. Even though there is no kid chair, they take children and adapt to their size. The best part of it is beeping able to watch the owner do his very best to help the community, I was able to watch many act of kindness during my time there and it was the best part. read more

This is the BEST Salon I've been to in my life. Tom is the most amazing, funny, kind and skilled technician I've ever met. He upgraded my manicure at no extra charge, making it look extra fancy. This is a beautiful nail salon right on Shattuck. The nail techs are so sweet and make sure you have a great time with complimentary Mimosas and never rushing you out of the shop. This was my first time and I happened to be in Berkley and wanting a pedicure and I picked the right place, I live in Hayward but I will travel back here to get my nails done. read more

The guy that works there took a chunk of my skin twice and said that my skin is too thin. He said he doesn't want to see me anymore and basically KICKED ME OUT. He has done my nails many times for months and now he's telling me that my skin is thin to not be blamed. You can't really see in the pictures but I was bleeding for at least 3 minutes. I didn't even say anything because sometimes people make mistakes but the fact that he's blaming me for his mistakes is actually baffling. Additionally, he has told me countless times that my nail ideas are "ugly" or "stupid". read more

This is by far the best place in Berkeley to get your nails done. I've been coming for almost 2 years and I've switched between gel and acrylic here and each have always turned out great (I can get about 3-4 weeks of use). Great hospitality and wonderful conversations from all employees. read more

While the staff was very friendly and the prices were reasonable, I was somewhat unhappy with my nails afterwards. I got a regular pedicure and the polish did not cover my whole nail, and my nails were crooked. My gel manicure had bubbles, fibers, and was not even. Overall an okay manicure but maybe not a great first experience. read more

For those who might not be aware, this place used to be Studio 19. They primarily do nails there now, but the wonderful folks from Studio 19 still cut hair on Friday and Sat - look for them in their own separate section in the back! If I am wrong about hair just being Friday and Saturday, I hope the proprietors can step in and correct me. This review is for hair only, although my sister says they do a great job with nails. Back then when I needed to find someone to cut my hair, I asked the friend who's apartment I had moved into where is a good place to get my hair done. My friend, Yvette, said she really didn't know, but that she gets her coloring done at Studio 19. Yvette's Persian and I guess one of Studio 19's specialties is highlights for darker hair. Anyway, I tried it out on a whim and Monique (an Americanized pronunciation of Monir), the proprietor, gave me a wonderful haircut and has done so for well over a decade. A couple years ago, I got my hair cut a few times by the other stylist there, Gracy, when Monique would be busy doing coloring or highlights. As my hair has gone more thin on top, I started going to Gracy regularly as she does such an amazing job with layering in parts where my hair is thicker so it doesn't look like I'm going bald. It's a considerable talent that probably wouldn't get noticed by their female clientele. Most important, both Monique and Gracy are lovely people. They are both so friendly and patient - two great qualities in a stylist. I've really enjoyed our conversations over the years. I'm pretty sure their prices are too low for the quality of service you get, but you won't find me complaining about that. read more

Easy to get to location. Easy metered parking right in front. The nearest accessible spot is across the street just south on Shattuck Avenue no far from the shop at all. The lotion & other products used are fragranced but not as strong as most other places I've been to which was a pleasant surprise. Everything was very clean and well organized. Tom upgraded my pedicure and gave me the royal treatment because I had a short wait for my appointment. I highly recommend you treat yourself to the works. Excellent massage, hot towels, paraffin wax, sugar scrub. It was all delightful. Tom is friendly and charming as well. I will definitely be back. I would have given 5 stars for my overall excellent experience except there was a client there not wearing a mask & that made me pretty uncomfortable. read more

That was great and helped me forget the ridiculous overpricing. I understand they give benefits to their staff but like $15 for a level 1 decoration for only 2 nails is laughable. For a stroke of glitter on top???? Or we serious right now??? I'd never come here again unless I have a boyfriend or partner who is willing to pay for it for me. I like the woman at the front desk there is annoying. I'd go somewhere else more affordable. Also important note is that they had NO DRYER for your nails. She had to bring over a mini fan that was useless. It already made a chip and bubble in my nails. Not worth it... come here if you have someone else pay for it, and to support the women working there who do your nails but I wouldn't come here to pay for it myself.

Prob also depends on which tech you get as well, but for now, I'll def stick to my usual nail salon and gel x applications.

I got a pink color with chrome powder, it lasted about two weeks. Overall, for around $50, I feel like you get what you pay for. I had a terrible experience at this nail salon, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who cares about the health of their nails. I came in to remove my Gel X extensions, and instead of using proper techniques, the technician aggressively ripped off the extensions using a nail tip to pry them off, even though the glue was still holding strong. This caused my natural nails to be ripped off with the extensions, exposing my nail beds and making them bleed. I repeatedly told the technician that it was painful, but she ignored my pleas and continued. I had to tell her angrily that it was really painful before she stopped. At that point, it was already too late, and my nails were severely damaged. What frustrates me even more is that they clearly knew there were better techniques available. They were soaking off the extensions on one hand, while on the other, they were aggressively yanking at my nails and even drilling into some of them. It was obvious she lacked the patience to do it properly and rushed through the process. I've been to many nail salons around the world, including in the UK and China, and never experienced anything like this. In every other place, they've used a drill to gently file down the extensions, a technique that is both painless and effective. When I told the technician she had ripped off part of my natural nail, she completely dismissed my concerns and said it wasn't her fault, which is ridiculous. It's unacceptable to ignore a customer who is clearly in pain and to not use less damaging techniques when they're available. The entire experience felt rushed and careless. Each time she repainted she did so without a base coat, when I suggested she start with a base coat it finally stuck. - The top coat was not smooth at all, but patchy and I had to request they apply it over many nails - The glue under the Gel-X was so thick it actually cut my skin and I had to file it at home - The actual gel x nails started to fall off as soon as I got home. I asked another salon closer to where I live to reapply and they were shocked by the job that was done. - More nails kept falling off - 6 so far. It's been 3 days. I would have gone back to get this completely redone but I was traveling and am out of town for the holidays so I have to fix this elsewhere. Update on 12/22/23: Hi Glamour Salon team: Thank you for the offer to refill, but I have to travel to three cities this holiday (which is why I was hoping these nails would last). I had to squeeze in an appointment to a nearby salon to redo my nails. While I won't be coming back, I would appreciate a refund of the manicure (not the pedicure or the tip), if possible.
