My husband and I ate breakfast here for the first time during a recent trip to Cortez, CO. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The price was also very reasonable! Highly recommended if you're in the area! read more

Don't go to Denny's! Come here! The portions are immense and they're hashbrowns are delicious shavings instead of strips. I had the homemade chorizo, and it was some of the best I ever had. Great place for a small town. The waitresses are kinda cute, too. I highly recommend this diner. Especially since it's homemade good rather than prepackaged stuff that you can get anywhere on the road. read more

A very popular breakfast place in Cortez. My wife had a cheese & avocado omelet, which she thoroughly enjoyed, while I had a classic eggs and hash browns. Though our meals were very good, there was something weird tasting with the toast. Since it affected two different types (rye and wheat), it was not likely the bread but more likely the butter. We'll eat there again if in the area, but our less-than-perfect experience prevents me from giving Beny's four stars. read more

Beny's Diner - Beny's Diner entrance - Mexican Near Me - Cortez, Colorado

After a morning of yard saleing we stopped here for breakfast. We were greeted immediately and were directed to our table. The dining room was very empty. I did notice how clean the place was so that made me optimistic we were in for a great meal. Ummmmmm..... We were given the very diverse menu with little more than a nod. My mother in law and husband ordered the chicken fried steak. My husband ordered a side of biscuits and gravy and 2 extra eggs. Luckily, I wasn't hungry. The biscuits were doughy and flavorless. The gravy that was on the biscuits and chicken fried steak was bland and more like a flour paste than a gravy and was absolutely inedible. The chicken fried steak was one of those pre-made jobs instead of hand breaded and fried as we would have expected from a place with 4.5 stars. The over easy eggs my husband ordered were perfectly cooked. The toast and hash browns were delicious were delicious but not enough to make us forget the sins of the gravy. Apparently we should have ordered the Mexican food everyone raves about on Yelp. Just to be safe we will roll right on by Beny's next time we are in Cortez. read more

This was a breakfast stop for us while traveling. The food portions were gigantic, so be prepared to unbutton the top button on your jeans. I had huevos rancheros. It was totally different than what we have on the east coast, but still very delicious. Most of the breakfast meals come with breakfast potatoes and toast, so it's a lot of food. The owner is clearly obsessed with cars, and they are in almost every picture. If you love decently priced gigantic breakfasts and also cars, then this would be heaven for you. read more

YUMMMM!!! Everything we had was great!!! My husband's chile relleno omelet with green sauce was the winner, though. Def worth the stop of you're nearby. read more

This place is busy but large enough with indoor and outdoor seating that the wait is not too long. The food portions are ridiculously large so consider sharing unless you want a ton of leftovers or burst your pant button. The cinnamon French toast was mouthwatering. The orange juice was fresh and delicious. They offer a variety of kids options. The service was friendly and definitely has a family friendly atmosphere. read more

Great Restaurant, gotta try it. They just (mid-2016) moved to the main street location and Did a fantastic job with the remodel. Outstanding food and service. read more

Lately when going to Beny's there's been a pronounced conservative bent. Usually, Fox News is playing on the T.V. If you don't let women order first, you will be admonished by the owner in front of everyone. Any other breakfast outlet is preferable. read more

Our family stopped for dinner after finally reaching Mesa Verde. The restaurant is bright and cheery with a car theme. We were seated quickly and the servers were pleasant and helpful. Both my husband and I had cheeseburgers, they were fresh, juicy and delicious. The cost was reasonable for a traveling family. We would come back again read more

Beny's Diner - Mexican Near Me - Cortez, Colorado

Stopped at Beny's for breakfast after reading a few great reviews, and I have to say the you can BELIEVE THE HYPE! The food is great! Had breakfast with my tour mates after a show in town the night before, and we all agreed it was the best breakfast we'd had after 12 days on the road. If you're ever in Cortez, CO or live there... I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

This place had great normal breakfast food and had normal prices. The waitstaff was very attentive and very personable. Highly recommend.

So lucky to have found this gem in Cortez! The food was delicious and the restaurant was spotless. I would say it is the best restaurant that we have ever eaten at in Cortez, everything was outstanding! read more

Multiple orders were wrong. Chorizo skillet meal was black on bottom and chorizo was so over cooked that it was crunchy. The wait staff and kitchen were clearly unorganized. I'm sure Denny's would have been a better choice. read more

Found this restaurant through Yelp recommendations. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions, food quality and overall taste. Definitely not high brow dining, but if you are looking for quality, satisfying and filling food with warm and welcoming wait staff- look no further. I had the eggs and homemade chorizo and my partner had the eggs and cheese enchiladas. Both are recommended. read more

I lived in Cortez for the most recent 2 years and whenever we wanted to go out for breakfast, this is where we'd go 95% of the time. The service was always attentive and the food was consistently good - the breakfast burrito (especially with their chorizo) was a favorite, but we had the Cinnamon Revolution French Toast and Pancakes sometimes, too. We tried various things off the menu and were never disappointed - if you're in Cortez and looking for a great breakfast to start the day - you should stop here! read more

Mmmm! Good solid diner type breakfast food (I've only gone for breakfast). You can get eggs, and a meat (including corned beef hash) with biscuits and gravy for a good price. They always make my husband's eggs correctly too. The waitstaff is always friendly and the place is really clean. read more

When we arrived, there were people waiting at the door to be seated. We waited about 5 minutes until we were able to be seated. The place was swamped. My initial thought was "This isn't good. We are going to have to wait for service and food." I was wrong! The server took it drink order almost immediately. We ordered and had it good within 10 minutes of being seated. I had the Huevos Rancheros con Chorizo. My wife had a Chile verde omelette and my son a breakfast burrito. All were delicious. read more

This is truly my absolute favorite place to eat in Cortez! The staff is honestly the best around, the food is something I crave all the time! Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat there. Absolute BEST omelettes and hash browns. Also they have a GF menu that is pretty fantastic read more

We were looking for a great breakfast/lunch place since we were in town for Mesa Verde and couldn't get tickets until the afternoon. This place is AMAZING. We had breakfast burritos, traditional American breakfasts, a Mexican influenced breakfast (enchiladas and eggs) and a hamburger at 9:45AM (they serve breakfast and lunch all day). The red and green sauces were very good and we were pleased with everything from the nice and friendly server and the great food with huge portions! If you need food while killing time waiting on Mesa Verde tickets, this is the place to go!! read more

Delicious food, served quickly and with a smile! I had the huevos rancheros and took half of them home with me. Beny's opens at 6:30 am for those needing to get an early start. I'll definitely be back! read more

Very good food, great service always, clean and located right as you pass thru town. We always have the BLT with tons of thick bacon, crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes . The side that comes with it is always a substantial portion as well. ( we always get the salad as a side, and it is really all we need to eat, very fresh and crisp.) The prices are more than fair, and we always see the police, firemen and locals eating there, which is always a testimony to the establishment. read more

The cinnamon french toast was amazing! It was like a top notch cinnamon roll made into french toast. Incredible. Staff was friendly, and food came really quick. Big portions, reasonable prices. Would definitely go back. (I think they're moving to a better spot on main st too....saw a sign for "Beny's Diner coming soon") read more

Not much else was open on a Sunday in Cortez. Drove by, looked cute, and thought we'd give a try, despite there being no Yelp reviews (ooh... big risk, right?). The burgers and fries that we had were awesome I got the "ortega swiss burger", which had a tasty, big green chile in it. The reports of the Mexican food on Trip Advisor were good but I cannot directly comment on that fare. The service was stellar. The ambiance was a little old and it was a bit chilly inside. We didn't notice until after we ordered but they have a daily specials menu where things where classic lunches (e.g. hamburger and fries) and breakfasts (e.g. eggs and potatoes) were $5. I went back and forth on 4 or 5 stars. I'm giving it 5 stars for the fact that it has a family owned feel (e.g. kids running through the kitchen) and the service was so great. read more

I would have liked to have been able to actually rate the food here, as the majority of the reviews are four and five stars. However, after having been seated in the back of a half-full restaurant and ignored for 20 minutes while seeing that people who were seated after us had drinks AND food, we finally left in frustration. No apologies, no attempts to get us to stay and offer service. Screw you, Beny's. We won't be back. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

Have always loved this place until today. We arrived about 1045 and were seated at al little table by the door with high traffic. Asked to move to a booth, several were opened just not cleaned. As they were cleaned, they were filled. Our waitress never came back so we left. Will go back but will hope for the other wait staff who are awesome! read more
