Came here with my sister for a girls night. The inside seating wait was about 30 mins but the outdoor seating was no wait. They have heaters outside that works very well. Once u are seated, u can take ur mask off. The severs come to ur table pretty quick. I had ordered the hurricane drink (very strong) and i had the combo that included crab legs and shrimp but i added black mussels to my combo with garlic butter sauce. It didnt take that long to come out. OMGG it was literally the best seafood i ever had. It was soo flavorful. It was a beautiful weekend evening and Bon G and I decided to take a road trip to Oceanside to try Ben's Crab. We had checked it out on Yelp and the reviews and photos said "you gotta try it" which we did. The first time we tried this type of dining in plastic bags was in Las Vegas and it was Vietnamese in nature. Theres not much in the way of knockoffs left on Long Island so this was a real treat for us. We arrived circa 9:30 and were ushered to the upstairs dining room where it was loud and people with bibs and gloves were partying hardy! Our server was Frankie, and he was great! he knew when we wanted something and he was Frankie on the spot! Drinks were first and Bon got her Tequila Kamizaze requested strong and I an Abita Beer. After perusing the menu we started with a bag of clams in Butter Sauce. The quantity of clams was disappointing but the sauce was good. The standout we ordered was the combo shrimp/crawfish bag in Ben's special Cajun sauce made Spicy! Finger lickin good! We knocked it off and ordered another pound of crawfish..just couldnt stop eating them...Oh so good!!! I've been to ben's crab one time and it was decent. I believe they had just opened and was giving free shrimp with you're order which was a great way to promote.. So I finally tried one of my Bookmarks today. I ordered takeout. Seafood bag which was snow crab legs, shrimps (unfortunately headless because it's all they offer), and a whole lobster. I also ordered sausages to go along in their specialty sauce.. One thing I can say about every crab spot I've been to is that none are the same. Every spot offeres a unique twist to their butter sauce. Ben's sauce is garlicky like every other place, and have a sweet smoky taste that I don't care too much for honestly. But the sweetness isint too over powering. On the other hand, I can appreciate the slight sweet touch.. Today was my first time eating a whole lobster. I got it because I've seen people extract peices of meat from the head but when I cracked the head of the lobster open, I was instantly reminded of my Phobia' my serious fear of insects. Weirded out I ended up throwing it in the trash. I also wasnt too crazy about the claw meat. I guess to each it's own but next time I'll stick to the tail. Still dosent take away points... Nevertheless this place is good. Its price is similar to any other seafood spot so expect to apen over 50 bucks if your a seafood lover and like a variety bag. Ben's Crabs is sooo good that it's virtually impossible to get seated without a significant wait, but it's definitely worth the wait. One of the best boils I have ever had! Of the apps, the lobster Mac and Cheese is a must try. I also loved the shrimp and the mussels... the sauces were addicting and literally finger licking good. Soft shell crab and oysters were also tasty. But, the reason to go to Ben's Crab is obviously for the crab so don't skip out on them. I enjoyed both the King crab and Dungeons crab... king is meatier and more closely resembles lobster meat but very easy to peel while dungeons is more delicate meat that has to be worked for. The crab entrees come with a variety of seasonings to choose from (you really can't go wrong), boiled potatoes and corn. Louisiana is KNOWN for their crawfish, and the home of crawfish is at ACME On bourbon street. Since my outstandingly long ago visit to Louisiana, i often crave a good bowl of crawfish and some garlic butter sauce. I noticed this place had some good reviews so i decided to stop on in and give it a try. Upon walking in on this hot sunny Sunday, there wasn't too much going on downstairs, but as soon as you walk up the stairs, there is a nice bar (which i love to sit at, and outdoor seating. They play good music to set a "feel good" experience. The soccer game was on at that the bar so it's both casual and romantic. Upon looking at the menu prices are fair and started off with a drink at the bar. When i checked in i noticed they have a coupon for a free Cajun fries. The gentleman at the bar was kind enough to help me and started me with that. I then ordered the (A) 1 lb crawfish and 1 lb shrimp medium spicy and the Cajun blend rub with a side of garlic butter. I normally like spicy but i wasn't sure how hot they ranged so i played it safe. Before the food arrived they give you a waste basket for shells gloves and wet naps. I have NEVER been to a place that gives gloves, EVER! I'm a messy eater and i enjoy sucking the juices off my fingassss?! gross?? Maybe, but i don't care. It's the experience. You have to experience it. But if you are a hypochondriac, you are free to keep your hands clean. The food arrived. And i noticed there were a lot of crawfish claws but i didn't say anything, i tend to eat with my eyes and think negative but i wanted to give the food a chance. The taste was AHHHMAAAZZINGUGHHH!! I could of picked the bowl. Honest to God! I did want a little heat but the medium wasn't as spice as i hope it would be. If you like heat go for the last two and if you don't like heat at all the medium spicy is perfect! It was very flavorful. Maybe a bit peppery (if that's a word) but not like hot sauce or hot peppers. Pretty mild. It came with sweet corn and potatoes. The garlic butter sauce was so scrumptious. It was not watery at all. A very thick garlic butter sauce. Trust me when i say make sure you ask for the garlic butter sauce!!! The shrimps were huge! And halfway through i didn't care that i was just sucking on empty claws there was more than enough food for the greedy foodie i am! The fries came out towards the end but by the time i finished my meal i had no room for my fries. They came with some tasty sauce but to be honest I'm still dreaming about the special Cajun blend. I could bathe in it!! I'll be taking the fries home. I spoke with the bar keeper and honestly told him the same thing I'm going to tell you, ACME on bourbon street is NUMBER 1 for ALLL CRAWFISH hands down, but this place in Long Island, it's a gold mine! It's right up there alley. I'd honestly say they are a tie with Acme. Totally worth a try and this place also does UBER EATS so you have no excuse to not try it. This is not just another seafood spot, Ben's Crab (Uniondale) is anything but! I went on a dinner date with my husband on a Friday night. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and live, fun atmosphere. The music was good dancing music (Urban). I almost got up and dance. The restaurant was full but not crowded. (it was almost 9:00 pm) but we managed to snag a table in less than 15 minutes. We was greeted soon after by our friendly waiter. I showed him a promotion on Yelp. He explained that the promotion didn't apply to their location and said he would tell his Manager. When the Manager came he gave us 10% off our dinner instead. The food was incredible (king crab legs & chicken wings basket) The food wasn't salty and cooked just right. I wish they gave more King crab legs because 2 legs shouldn't cost $40. The food was disgusting. I felt like the seafood cane literally from the sea without anyone actually cleaning it. It literally tasted like ocean water instead of tasing fresh. I had the crawfish and shrimp with medium-spicy Cajun blend. It wasn't even a bit spicy, I couldn't taste anything and usually Cajun has a kick to it so I wanted to be safe. The shrimp was over cooked and even tasted mushy. The crawfish had a weird color on the inside of it. I hated it. The only thing good about my meal was the corn. THE SERVICE- HORRIBLE! No one came at asked me how my food was, no one even spoke to be, there's free refills and I didn't even get my cup refilled at all, the waiter was no where to be found and when I spoke to him he was in a rush.. Ever time I eat spicy food my first thought is, Would fellow yelper Dick G. find this spicy enough? Well, Dick, I think you might! All meals allow you to pick a sauce and a spice level. I choose spicy Ben's special cajun blend and it was pretty spicy for my taste buds, but they do have a fire level which might be your trick. I ordered this over snow crab legs and it was delicious! We also ordered the catfish and fried shrimp basket which came with a choice of regular or cajun spiced french fries. I loved the fried catfish! The fish was plump and juicy and the cajun fries were crisp. I would swear clear of the fried calamari though because the batter was off putting. The restaurant is kind of wierd. The bar is upstairs and the bathrooms are downstairs. The dining room downstairs was closed the second time we were here and I had to walk downstairs twice to wash my hands, (the food is pretty messy to eat especially if you're cracking crab & lobster or pulling off shrimp heads) They do have an elevator to navigate the floors but that just felt lazy to me, and how would I push the buttons with cajun sauce all over my digits? I had crab cakes that were soggy and bready that I could have gotten better from Costco. Their gumbo was in a thin tomato based broth with some sausage and shrimp. Disappointed to say the least. I so badly was craving seafood and my usual go to spot was closed. I searched high & low and came across Bens via yelp. I read the reviews and couldn't wait to try the food! I placed my order over the phone and drove over to pick it up(Takeout thanks to covid). When I pulled into the lot, it was SOOO crowded. Another + in my book because well, everyone was flocking to the front door. I anxiously drove home and dug right in. I ordered the crab legs/shrimp in Bens special sauce and my mom had the old bay sauce. Both bags looked identical. They lacked spice even though we ordered spicy. The food was plentiful so I let the spice slide. A few hours later I started to feel nauseous. . I figured maybe it was just a stomach bug. Well I had also ordered garlic noodles that I had the day after and the same feeling of nausea accompanied with vomiting and diarrhea were present. Looks and taste are 2 very different things. Went on a Thursday evening but the place is busy (tables are widely spaced though so they still practice safety measures, but business seem to run good and I hope it will continue to be so haha) anyway... service was excellent! the staffs were very pleasant and friendly. we had blue point oyster, Fried Shrimp & fried calamari for appetizers, Shrimp & Lobster combo, clam & snow crab combo, and shrimp & snow crab combo with garlic noodle, garlic bread, and cajun fries as sides. The combo came with potato and corn (yes it was A LOT of food). the appetizers were crispy, squidgy, and came with nice dipping sauce. oysters were fresh! the fries might be better if it were more sharply seasoned. garlic noodle was not bad, but my fav sides is the garlic bread. they were so tasty dipped in the sauce ( which was heavily oil-based but somehow it did not taste greasy) and the main dish... the crab flesh was tender and did not smell fishy at all. the potato was perfectly cooked. overall it was a great meal. it's a bit hard to open the lobster but regardless it looked pretty epic. they provide gloves, bib, and shell cracker, but they didn't have scissors (it will be very helpful to eat the crab with scissors). it's a bit pricey but i think it's still reasonable. read more

They're open during Covid-19 but they probably shouldn't be because they can't handle the work load. I understand we're in a pandemic and things are different but I've been to so many other restaurants and service wasn't this bad. We finally got seated after an hr and 45 mins after that, we finally had drinks in front of us. I order shrimp and crab legs. The shrimp wasn't deveined so I really couldn't eat it. The crab legs were okay, you can't really mess that up right? The sauce was tasty but I've had better. The establishment plays loud music and certain parts of the restaurant are rowdy. It gave us time to relax and unwind for a bit. We ordered their combo pots. They came with gloves (so it's good for those of us with newly manicured nails). Holy guacamole everyone MUST VISIT this place. I've seen YouTube videos of places with similar concepts and wanted to go so badly. Thrilled this has opened here on the island. The seafood is so fresh and delicious!! Mom and I enjoy crawfish and crab legs. We were also able to take advantage of the yelp offer and get a pound of shrimp!! Delicious!
