Hi so dinning during Covid is different. When you come into the parking lot there is Valet parking. I don't think there's an option to park your car on your own. They do it for you. It's a nice thing to do but during covid I definitely felt a little weird. My friend and I sat down and the day we went it wasn't too cold. The sitting was outside under a tent, and there were two giant heaters to make the area warm. I think during colder times the heater is a must. So I'm glad this establishment had it. We looked at the menu and wasn't too sure about what to get. I didn't really go into the inside of the restaurant so I can't give commentary on the appearance. Staff and fellow customers did follow covid guidelines, so that's a plus. The drinks were also made exceptionally well. A balance of sweet and alcohol. I didn't feel as if they skimped on the alcohol. They do give you a bucket, gloves and a bib as you're eating the crab. The restaurant also places hand sanitizer on every table and throughout the restaurant. The food is also prepared exceptionally well and I love every second of it. 1lb of crab is literally two giant snow crabs, and they toss in about 10 pieces of shrimp thats equivalent to a 1lb. The lobster was also amazing. Although the place does cost a hefty penny, I think its worth it especially if you love seafood and fine dining. read more

Ugh. All frozen seafood. I ordered a dungeonoss crab that smelled like it was in a freezer for a year. I like fresh seafood.

My family and I visited this restaurant for an early dinner. The dining area is up a long flight of stairs. I hope they have an elevator. The crowd there was fairly young, not a place for a quite meal. The food was ok. I ordered the lobster tails and shrimp in garlic butter sauce. I truly did not care for it. The meal is served in plastic bag with all your meal choices thrown into a melange. The garlic sauce was a bit on the clumpy and almost pasty like. It lacked flavor. My daughter had the old bay seasoning. Well old bay is old bay, what's left to say. I rather liked it, but then again I am a fan of old bay. The french fries had what tasted like parmesan cheese sprinkled and baked into it. I didn't care for the combo. The desert taste like they came out of a box and warmed before serving. Yuck! I don't know that I'll be returning. read more

So, so disappointed unfortunately. I had to use my weekly lunch stipend from my company, so my husband and I decided to try Ben's since they have the best rating on Seamless for crab legs (and our usual spot, Voodoo Crab, wasn't on there). 2lbs of crab legs - garlic butter and special cajun sauce wings mac & cheese chicken tenders and fries EVERYTHING was bland except for the fries...I'm not kidding. Which was so surprising because everything "looked" well seasoned, but once you bit into it - both my husband and I looked at each other like, "where's the flavor??" Both sauces for the crab legs were so oily and flavorless that we took the legs out of the bag of sauce, tossed the bag in the trash, and ate the legs with our own garlic butter sauce that I whipped up in the kitchen real quick. The mac and cheese was awful - mushy and bland. We took one bite and tossed it, no joke. Please, please save yourself the trouble and just go to Voodoo Crab. Better quality and more flavor. read more

So honestly, I was shocked by the vibe of this place once we stepped ins wide. It was very trendy and the music was perfect-- a millienial and genz's space for sure. The servers were also really nice which made the experience great. Very similar to most seafood boil places, the food was pretty tasty. Not overcooked which of course is always a plus because I cannot stand a soggy corn or shrimp. I will definitely be back when in the area! read more

They opened up a Ben's crab by me in Massapequa, I have never eaten there, but planned to try it out one day. So my girlfriend and I we're out by Long Beach, it was late and we were really hungry. At first we were going to eat at a Gastro Pub, but on our way we saw Ben's and decided to try it out. From the outside it looked big an nice. Their parking lot was full, so we thought they must have really good food. As we came in, you could hear loud music coming from upstairs. We were seated on the main floor, which was more quiet. I was not impressed with the decor, and the bathroom was not kept. So as we're looking at the menu it was not what I expected. I didn't like the wing choices, there were a lot of appetizer choices, but most were fried and battered. They also didn't have other options for the entrees except for the seafood boil. So I ordered lobster Mac n cheese and a lychee martini. My girlfriend ordered the lemon pepper wings and Cajun fries. We also ordered the crab cakes and hush puppies to share. Usually when you haven't eaten all day and you finally have that first meal, it'll taste three times better than usual. Well, this food was NOT the case. First, they gave us water which had some weird taste to it. We had to squeeze lemon in it to make it better. Then, my drink came which was ok. Didn't really taste the liquor and wasn't made the way I am use to. And I am a big Lychee Martini drinker. Now the food comes out pretty quick. I take a bite of my Mac n cheese. It was not firm, was a bit too soft as if it had been sitting and reheated. The flavor of the lobster was ok, but overall it had to be the worst Lobster Mac n cheese I ever tasted. I was so hungry, I didn't want to send it back and have to wait longer. Strike One!!! My girlfriend said her wings were flavorless inside. She really didn't care for the lemon pepper crust. She didn't like the Cajun fries either. I tasted it and agreed. Strike Two!!! Our crab cakes are served, she takes a taste of it and spits it out in her napkin. She told me to try it myself. Yuck!!!! It was tasteless, mushy and didn't look appetizing. Strike three!!! The only thing that tasted decent was the hush puppies that we shared. Never again will we ever eat at a Ben's Crab. Although their service was good, the food will NOT want us coming back for more. I'll stick to my favorite seafood boil restaurant by me. read more

Food 10/10 service 9/10 only because our serge who actually brought out our drinks was flat. No excitement she seemed like she didn't want to be there lol but the girl who took our orders was actually great. I wish I could remember her name. Visited on a Friday night. It wasn't too crowded and we were seated right away. Music was a mix of hip hop/rnb. It did seem a little loud at times but once we got our food not much talking was being done. Lol we ordered the crab boil I think on the menu is letter F. Soooo good. That sauce is still in my dreams. It was what I imagine a mix of alfredo with O'bay would taste like. Shrimp were huge and fresh. Wish I took a pic of the food. I wish they had one of these places along the whole east coast. read more

First time here, cute place out in Ocean Drive. My co workers and I came to Bens Crab for a bday dinner/ girls night. Food was awesome! Great Cajun seafood get your hands dirty, finger lickin' good! You can get a variety of food items. Buckets of crab legs, lobsters, etc. I'm personally not a fan of cracking the legs on anything so I went with the shrimp. Shrimp comes w head on or off and it has skin. My friends got the seafood bag combos, good for the price. You are provided with gloves and a bib, I mean this is the real deal. The alcoholic drinks are great and not a pocket killer! Also service was excellent, we stayed from 8pm-midnight and not once did our server rush us, he was so nice and cool and lively! The only thing that sucked was that a fight broke out but we didn't let that bother our night. Everyone went about their business. Overall, if you want great seafood, good music (loud reggae, hip/hop & rap) good company) and great service... this is the place to go. Parking: Valet read more

The food was fast and hot, had the scallops as an appetizer and they were excellent. The crab cakes were also good. Like a lot of seafood restaurants, the crabs/lobster main dish is prepared and served in a plastic bag. That said the food I ordered (snow crabs and shrimp)was flavorful and did not taste like the bag it came in. Service was friendly and they took care of any needs quickly. The music was loud (which the staff did warn us about before seating) but I still managed to take a phone call and could be heard on the other side. read more

- 5 stars because our waiter hooked up the henny drinks - don't forget to yelp check in for your free cajun fries * only one per table tho * the free order is smaller and less fresh than the regular order of cajun fries - awesome Friday night contract - The crab too up the flavor very well - The lobster tail was kind of small for $15 - the ben's sauce is one of my favorite crab sauces - the 'spicy' is not very spicy - they give you a lot of mussels read more

Ben's Crab is my go to seafood spot on Long Island. I used to travel into LIC or the city for good Cajun seafood, but not anymore. I initially stumbled upon this place a few years back while looking for a restaurant for my mother's birthday. I believe they had just opened and I wanted to give them a try. Since then I've been coming every couple of months. Everyone who I've introduced to this place has falling in love, and returned on their own. I usually get the snow crab leg and shrimp combo with Ben's sauce. It comes in a variety of spice levels, I like fire...but it's hot, so be careful. The music, the food, and the drinks are great. I always find myself singing and dancing along to the old school R&B. They're getting ready to open a second location. I hope it's just as good as the first. Will definitely try once it's open. read more

My girlfriend took me here for dinner one night. I had been meaning to try it so we did and I'm glad we did! It's delicious and reasonably priced. The seafood was cooked perfectly. My complaints: 1. The shrimp still had the vein in the back which, the should have removed because that's where the poop comes from. 2. The music was so loud that we could t hear our server talk. 3. The oysters were a bit dirtier than I'm used to My praises: 1. The margaritas were strong as hell!!! 2. The service was friendly and fast. 3. The atmosphere is quite welcoming. 4. The fries and the crab were delicious. Overall we had a pretty good experience!! We will be back. read more

Second time coming here I have no real complaints service was excellent I had attentive servers who wasn't even my server tend to my table. The drinks are perfect if you like both a strong ass and tasty cocktail. I don't like to get dirty so I don't order boil bags but from what it looks like a lot of people come here for the bags. My favorite thing to order is the lobster mac and cheese. It's not prepared like most traditional lobster mac and cheese. it's loose but has the perfect amount of creaminess from the roux the cheese and the best part there is lots and lots of lobster claw and knuckle meat plus it's seasoned well. The servings are kinda big you can easily order one meal to split or take food home. Would I come back? Hell yes read more

Ben's Crab Oceanside - Cajun Fries Thanks Yelp! - Seafood Near Me - Oceanside, New York

We enjoyed our seafood dinner at this place. We ordered a Cajun fries as appetizer, shrimp pasta, king crab leg combo and lobster combo for the meal, and the food portion was surprisingly big! Every single dish had leftover except for the fried. I strongly recommended the lobster combo with the garlic butter sauce. Added some noodles as side for the lobster combo made it very delicious because the noodle came out great with the garlic butter sauce. The king crab leg order came with two claws and the meat was fresh. Each combo came with a few potatoes and corns. The three of us had leftover for lunch for the next day. The services was exceptional, staff stopped by to check on us to see if we needed anything. Very friendly staff and helpful with placing an order. They knew their menu and made great recommendations. The interior decors were good. Overall it was a place that we would like to come back. Food quality was good. read more

Loved this place so much! It was delicious and best of all our waiter was amazing. The whole staff is very friendly and smiley! We got great recommendations as well. We tried the lobster with the shrimp (Cajun sauce) and the snow crab with shrimp (garlic butter) They were both delish! I personally like a little spice, but my friends do not, therefore I asked for a spicy sauce on the side! I will definitely be coming back. 10/10 read more

I used to love coming to this kind of food in LA, but it was in LA. So, when i found out the same Louisiana food here @ Ben's crab i am so happy because now i dont have to go far to eat this cajun style seafood. The place is big and crowded on the weekend, the music is very good, the server is nice and the food is amazing. My Favorite food from appetizer is fried shrimp basket and i like the lobster cajun pasta then i love to have my king crab with garlic butter sauce and my clams n shrimp with Ben's cajun special. While im enjoying my seafood with the good music also additional to that is the good drink. Overall this is a good place for the crave with reasonable price ( its seafood, so with the price that they offer is of course reasonable) read more

Great concept, great service. This place gets packed quite quickly so I'd advise going early. seems the most popular item here is getting a bag filled with boiled seafood. I on the other hand opted for a shrimp basket which was very flavorful and the lobster Mac and cheese. My brother cousin and I decided to go out to dinner as we hadn't been out together in a long time. I was in the mood for seafood. My cousin suggested Ben's Crab. We were greeted and seated upstairs. A lot of good energy in the dinning area with people enjoying the food and music. Our drinks and appetizers can right behind each other. BBQ shrimp basket and fries. Flavorful. We then ordered the fried shrimp basket. Flavorful. Then the mains came. Snow crab legs boil. Perfect!!!! You must try the garlic butter sauce. At worst get it on the side. This place was so much fun! I love a good seafood boil any day. My aunt and I stopped in on this place which is truly in the cut of Oceanside. There was a bit of a wait (45 minutes) but on a Saturday night what could we expect? We got lucky and we're seated in 15 minutes! It's a 2 story building with lots of energy and good feeling. The owner is welcoming and the hostess was kind. I ordered the combo seafood boil of shrimp- head on , and crawfish with the Ben's Sauce (a combination of the 3 sauces in the menu.) for a drink I got the Mojito that had grenadine, mint, lychee, and rum. WHO CHILE! This drink packed a lunch and it was just what I needed! It had a sweetness and the lychee was a good additive to the flavor. Loved it. This seafood? Fire. It was so good, as I love garlic - let me tell you right now if you don't like garlic do not get Ben's House Sauce! There was flavor and kick (I got level 3 spicy) and just yummy goodness!! I would do it all over again. The music was anyone's 90s 80s 70s fantasy, the DJ was on fire. 10/10 would recommend and you can believe I will be back. read more

I loved this place so much I went again and was completely disappointed! Got the twin lobsters and 1 pound shrimp this time around lobster was dry and had no flavor even with butter and shrimp portions were way off definitely not a pound. I'm not sure what the issue was thing time around but the service wasn't up to pare either we had to wait over 10 minutes for a table because the hostess wouldn't let the waitress bring us to a table then we we finally got a table we were shoved in by the bathrooms where the floor was sticky and tables smelled musty after spending over a 100 bucks on a horrible meal very upsetting safe to say you lost a customer don't go here on weekends! I'd swear they were farmed shrimp. Cocktail sauce, blah. And my favorites, scallops, over seared, chewy, lots of sand and smothered in garlic. Scallops are a mild meat that shouldn't Be overwhelmed with a sauce. Ate two, left 4. And as my picture shows, the worst beer pour ever. Music is obnoxious and way too loud. My boyfriend and I came here early afternoon to try out the food here and ever since the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we had a great experience. The staff is so kind and hospitable and the environment is calm. My boyfriend ordered Lobster Cajun Pasta, 6pc Raw Oysters, and New England Clam Chowder Soup. I ordered a Snow Crab w/ Shrimp (head off), but substituted the shrimp for mussels instead. When we got our food, our server (who's name I forgot to ask for) placed a bib on me and gave me some gloves for my crab. I loved that I was given gloves so that i don't have to worry about the smell of crab getting on my fingers. Plus, it made everything super easy to clean up once i was done eating. Yelp I've recently voluntarily spent my coins here twice in the past two weeks. I took a break for the winter but once I had the cravings for some decent seafood I made my way right on back. I always order the shrimp and snow crab legs with the Ben's Sauce (which is excellent). I've also had the crab cakes, lobster bisque, seasoned fries (free if you check in), and the mixed Hennessy drink (I forgot the name I tend to forget after 2). It's best to go on the weekend if you want to crack your crab legs in piece (peace...get it?....no? Okay) Anyways I went this Saturday night around 10 and whew chile it was crowded! I've never witnessed it so busy. Although it was crowded, the food was still tasty and the seafood bag was full and fresh (as usual). It's always a good idea to spend your money here. I feel like the henny drinks have a generous amount of henny in it. You definitely feel it after having one. We also had catfish tenders which was well seasoned, the clam option was good but i feel like I had more garlic butter than anything else. Only reason why I took off a star. What can I say? The food is tasty. The 'house' sauce was pretty good and the seafood tasted very fresh. The drinks were flavorful but very weak. The garlic bread is a waste- don't bother.
