The interior is beautiful and they have a nice terrace for outdoor dining. When we sat down our eyes immediately went for the appetizers. I love appetizers usually more than I do the entree. I already knew staples I had to have were the crab cakes and mac & cheese. We ordered some calamari as well as a crab roll. We were a party of four and when the appetizers came out, I thought it was a JOKE! For $12 you get one tiny crab cake. Appetizers are usually meant to be shared. This place however does not think so. The mac and cheese was more like a side order, served in a tiny metal to go tin. The calamari was over cooked and flavorless. The crab roll was this tiny little thing, it was okay but nothing stellar. The crab cake itself had way too much mayo, no lumps of crab and came with a slaw that was covered in the weird sweet mayo dressing. After this I did not order an actual meal because I felt as though it wasn't worth it. The crab cakes were decent but on the small side and you only get two. Definately check in on yelp for the free cajun fries, they are delicious! The combo boil bags were fun, we ordered the king crab and shrimp and snow crab with old Bay, I added sausage to mine. The service was pretty good but could have been slightly faster here and there waiting for drinks etc. Overall the food came fast and they set you up with a bucket, gloves, tools for cracking and wet napkins. I came here with a couple of friends and was able to be seated right away for a party of 5. This place does allow you to make reservations. Our sever was Alex he was helpful and attentive, and made our experience entertaining. During happy hour which is between 5pm-7pm you are able to get certain deals such as $1 oysters. Our party ordered the crab cake, mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, garlic bread, oysters and the fried shrimp to start. For our mains we ordered the shrimp and crawfish combo, and 4 snow crab legs. All with different sauces and spice levels. All mains and combos come with corn and potatoes. Because we order a main course we received one pound of shrimp for free. With the free shrimp you can choose any sauce and spicy level to your liking. That special is only one per table. The ambience is relaxing and casual, a great place to get a good drinks and good food and hang with friends. Oysters - The oysters were absolutely awesome. Whoever is shucking them didn't have the best technique as there was some dirt/gravel on a few of our oysters but damn these oysters were fat. They tasted really fresh... less on the briny side and no fishy taste at all. Shrimp - The best bang for your buck here. The shrimp are huge and go best with their special Cajun blend sauce in my opinion. Suck on the heads after you rip 'em off to get even more out of each shrimp. Snow crab legs - I was surprised how much meat I could get out of each crab leg. So so delicious but pricier than the shrimp and they won't fill you up. I feel like crab meat tastes best with just their garlic butter which happens to already be super thick. Crawfish - I'll pass on these next time. The tail meat is not filling at all and just don't taste as good as the crawfish boils in New Orleans. Stick with the shrimp or crab. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We had the $1 oysters happy hour special (5-7pm everyday), soft-shell crab basket, 1 lb crawfish with their special Ben's Cajun sauce and a free 1 lb shrimp with the butter garlic sauce. The largest shrimp we've ever had to date at a boil place. Dessert was a delicious slice of key-lime pie. We highly recommend this place. Definitely a delicious meal. read more

A hidden GEM. I had originally planned to visit Claw Daddy in the city. My friend who is 8 months pregnant wasn't feeling up to the trip. The place was very quiet, that made us happy. We were able to choose where we wanted to sit. I was blown away. Because inside was well decorated. It was cozy and friendly. We ordered 2 Frenchman to start off with. Because it had my favorite (Hennessy). It was literally amazing. I'm a drinker but this drink I sipped. It was potent. We redeemed our free Cajun fries through Yelp. We got buffalo wings. We ordered 2 pound crab legs, 2 pound shrimp a side of sausage. We did Mild for the flavors. We got Bens Cajun, garlic butter and Old Bay. WE LOVED everything we ate it almost off. We just couldn't go anymore. We even ordered food to go for home. Total of 6 Frenchman later, stomach full on seafood we got a bill for $155.00. For 6 of us. We were extremely pleased with everything. Everything is just so flavorful. Dip every piece back into the boil bag to get more flavor! The corn in the bag just soaks everything up and tastes AMAZING. We split two combo orders among 3 people and we were good! My family also likes getting the lemon pepper flavor, as well as the garlic butter one. Let me begin by noting that I already feel like I am being promiscuous with my 3-star rating because although the food is undeniably good, the cavalier attitude of "AshSlay" owner of Cocoslay minks, co-owner of Driipjuice, and most notably the bartender, left a much nastier taste in my mouth that I have yet to get out. We will get back to that one later on this review but she has a re-occurring role ;-). We chose to come to Ben's crab because we had dined there before and enjoyed the food and enjoyed the ambience (They play music at night at varying levels of volume so feel free to roll the dice). Upon entering this particular night, we instantly were greeted and seated at a round table that was great for our party's size (5 people). This all would have been great save for the music that was blaring so loud we had to yell at each other actually to hear each other. Let me take a minute to note that I work in entertainment, so I am no stranger to music being played in many different types of venues. Still, my problem is when I cant actually talk to my friends casually without shouting. I tried to get one of the four waiters working the area around my table and got the "Give me the 1-minute finger" thrown up and didn't make a big deal because I know that waiting on people is not easy. Adding Covid compliance and the loud music can't be any easier, but I digress. A waitress finally came over, and I politely asked if a)The music can be turned down or b) Can we be moved to an area that is not near the speakers. She told me she would have the music turned down. Less than a minute later, the music was turned down to a much more manageable level, and with a sigh of relief, my party was able to have our first normal volume conversation. Less than a minute later, the music was turned back up even louder, and I immediately noticed the bartender "Ashslay" glaring at us while she worked the bar. I quickly put 2 and 2 together and realized "Ashslay" controls the volume and does not care for my request. My friend decided she would intervene and talk to her directly to see what can be done so we can carry on. My friend did not have to give me a play-by-play about what was said because from "Ashlay's" body language and her chicken neck emphasis, I knew the conversation did not go well. My friend came back and told us that "Ashlay" said that she would turn it down a little "But just so you know, this is how it's done on nights like tonight," my friend asked for a manager, and "Ashlay" responded, "I don't know where they might be, but I'll see if I can find them" Of course, we know "Ashslay" was not going to get us a manager. I immediately knew I needed to talk to a manager and sought out the manager myself. I told him what happened, and he gave us a table downstairs in another section to accommodate us. Thankfully the music was much more tolerable down there. However, "Ashlay's" cavalier attitude towards us and death stares was still fresh on my mind. We were in a section that was not generally opened at that time because as we dined for the rest of the evening, the waiter stood a table away the entire time, waiting for us to finish. Let me emphasize, the food was delicious, and the manager did accommodate our request to move. I'm sure our complaints may be why my BF, the birthday boy, didn't get a little birthday shout-out as everyone else did. However, I can't shake the fact that the only way "Ashlay" would feel so empowered to talk out of the side of her neck to us like that is if management empowered her to do so. And maybe I need to find another place to eat or spend our money elsewhere. It wasn't the loud music that bothered me so much; it was the reaction to the request that I can't shake. So I will conclude by saying that Ben's crab has excellent garlic noodles, their old bay seasoning and king crab are so satisfying. The drinks were okay but inconsistent. It was ranging from heavy-handed to barely any alcohol. And that is okay because it will be the LAST time they get my money as long as she is there. Many people will pass this off as a small thing that I should let go of. However, we should not spend our money at places where people don't respect us, and I stand by that. I would say fight me, but I suspect that "Ashlay" would be up to it, and at the end of the day, she ain't worth my money, and neither is the obscenely loud atmosphere of Bens Crab. read more

They quickly move tables out after they're done, which was not problem for me and my bf because we went to FSU and leave. The prices a really reasonable and the drinks are strong. The food was hands-down some of the best seafood plates that I ever had! 4 star rating is misleading. Average to below average at best. Review is from non seafood eater. My wife is the expert on this matter. So this is a collaborative review. Food - Limited Menu for non seafood eaters which is to be expected. I had the Kobe Beef Sliders which were pretty good. I also had the southern fried wings which were very crispy. A bit on the small side and not much flavor. It comes with a dipping sauce (ranch I think). Hot sauce would probably be a better option. My wife tried the fried catfish basket. Basically the same as the chicken wings -very crispy. No flavor. She believes they were frozen and a little bit over fried. She also had the snow crab and shrimp combo with butter and garlic sauce. They prepped her with a bib, gloves and a bucket. The order came out in a large bowl in a "boil bag". The shrimp and crab legs were covered with the butter and garlic sauce. She would have preferred the sauce on the side so make sure you make them aware of your preference. There was enough food just not very tasty - average at best . Service - Friendly but could be better. After our initial drinks and our food arrived, no one came by to see if we needed anything else or if the food was ok. Atmosphere - Nice place fairly modern. So glad I discovered this place. Everyone is right: so much better than Joe's Crab Shack. There's much more flavor on the seafood. The waiter was very nice and friendly. I shared the 1 1/2 lb lobster and shrimp (the waiter was nice enough to switch the original crayfish for the shrimp) with my husband. We got a free 1 lb of shrimp (thanks to Yelp).
