I met Bennie while in Cafe Bagel next door. He mistook me for a family member and we struck up a conversation. I told him I'd come back later in the day for pizza and man am I happy I did. I liked how quaint and old school the restaurant was. Table placement made me think of places I've been where strangers end up striking up conversations between tables. The excitement on Benny's face also made my day when he looked up, saw me and exclaimed "You came back!" It wasn't just Benny though, the entire staff was very welcoming. We ordered a large pizza that was bigger than expected. It was a NY style pizza that was on point. Good sauce and not to much I'd say the perfect amount, good pepperoni and the meatballs tasted homemade and were absolutely amazing. We also ordered Teriyaki wings. Easily the best wings I've tasted in Venice so far. I look forward to trying more dishes upon our return to Venice. Benny's will now be a regular stop for us when we visit. read more

I was surprised that no one was wearing masks last Friday when I picked up a carryout order. When I commented the manager said "they don't do any good ". He basically made fun of me for wearing one. Well I guess I should start off by saying this is a small pizza place., I thought it was a larger restaurant... Not... A bit small and you can definitely feel the heat from the ovens... I'm not one to complain about heat.. But it was hot. Garlic knots were yummy... The pizza looked yummy .. Dinner well we were undecided. Half of us liked it, the other half not so much. The red sauce is delicious. My carbonara sauce was runny and tasteless. The broccoli rabe was good, the Zuppa de Pesce was tasty, the vodka sauce just ok. Excellent food, and Excellent Service. When you walk in the restaurant, you feel like you have walked into a Italian Kitchen, they make you feel welcome. Worst Service ever! Waited over 30 minutes for a non existing table. After being told we had he next available table and it would be several minutes, we were then told the table we were patiently waiting for has now turned into a reservation! Then we were told if we wanted to we could continue to wait. Trying to get a straight answer out of waitress was a joke! We walk in sit down and waited for our friends to show. Waitress sked if we wanted drinks right away. Yes she was awesome. But this guy walks out from the kitchen sat down at the table next to us started talking about food and I said someone told me this place has the best Calamari he proceed to talk about how to cook the calamari fast a not to Crispy. My wife who does not eat calamari because it is to chewy wanted it crispy. He said let me cook it for you. He proceeded to go in the back. We cannot seem to get good pizza anywhere in Venice. Ordered one pizza and asked for light sauce and extra cheese. Pizza came an hour and a half later extremely cold and looked like it had been sitting there the whole day. Paid for extra cheese and did not get anywhere near extra cheese. Sauce was heavy as well and pizza was soggy it seems like it was sitting there so long. I wanted to like this so much. The best part was the family working there. They were all happy, friendly and having a good time. We ordered pasta and everyone says the pizza is the stuff to get there, so we may try it again. Chicken parm and seafood capellini both had very mushy pasta, very watery sauce. Have been looking for a good pizza place since moving here and have tried everything from the cheap to the expensive. We ordered takeout since delivery would have taken over an hour (which was fair since I called during prime dinner time). The restaurant is part of a strip of stores and would have been easy to miss if you weren't looking for it (and GPS). When I walked in there was a cozy feel and most of the tables were occupied with the dinner crowd. I noticed a few tables drinking wine with their dinner and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. I had ordered a large pep, sausage and mushroom to go and with any new place I always order their garlic knots/rolls. It was hot and ready to go when I arrived. The staff was friendly and offered to bring my order to my car for me since I had a little one in tow. When we got home, the pizza was well covered with toppings so each bite had a bit of something. The crust was crusty with a good chew to it. Sauce was sweeter than salty and it was definite New York style as it was thin and you could fold it to eat it. The garlic knots were delicious. Now if you like your knots covered in garlic and oil then get this. It also came with a side of sauce which was sweet and complimented the salty garlic knots. We will be ordering from this place again and hope that they stay consistent and do not disappoint. Tip: dip your pizza crust in the garlic oil!!! read more

Wife and I moved to the area about 10 months ago and have been looking all over for good italian food... found it tonight at Benny's Bada Bing. Pizza was the best, by far, that I've had in Florida. Wife had pasta-fagioli soup... not the heavy, tomato base we're used to... very good, almost "buttery". I also had chicken parm... outstanding! The owner sat at the next table and gave me a good natured ribbing for eating pizza, salad, plus an dinner entree... and several garlic knots (OMG! Garlic butter heaven). I wanted to try a variety of dishes to see what the restaurant was like. It passed with all A's. The owner was a very pleasant, interesting character, the restaurant is simple, small, and comfortable, the service is attentive, fast but not "rushed", and the food is the best Italian I have had in a very long time. We drove to Venice from Port Charlotte just to try it, and we will be back often. read more

HOLY CANNOLI! Seriously, Bada Bing is heaven in a strip mall. Im sad it took my husband and I this long to find it ! It may not look like much from the outside, but please don't let that deceive you. Our meal there last night was some of the best Italian food I've had in years! We started with the garlic knots which were outstanding! Not great for the diet, but everyone needs a splurge every now and again! My husband wanted pizza, and I wanted pasta- so we compromised and ordered both we figured left overs would be lunch and dinner for a few days! The house salad that came with my pasta was a good size, we split it. Nothing special, but it worked. I had carbonara on ziti ( I love that they let you choose your pasta). It was fantastic. Rich, creamy, garlic-y. I was very impressed! My husband ordered a pizza with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and pepperoni. My one complaint about every pizza place we've tried locally is either a bad house sauce or crust. Bada Bing has it all. The pizza was to die for, crispy and gooey- covered in cheese! We will be eating this meal for days. We split a cannoli ( my personal favorite) and it was perfection. This place can't be stopped. We walked in and were greeted like family. The place was busy but a table was cleared quickly. We had three people check in on us. We started with garlic knots. I was with a picky eating 10-year old and he loved them as did I. We ordered a large pizza, half cheese half pepperoni & onion. The pie was amazing. It reminded me of a place in my home town that went out of business when the owner passed away. It was NY style pizza. We brought left overs home and had them for breakfast. Delicious! Prices were outrageous! Asked for light sauce on a pasta and they drowned it and asked for a little extra sauce on the pizza and they charged me an extra $2.00 and there wasn't even extra sauce. I came down from Baltimore, I'm a NY native and frequent visitor to NY to my family's house. I'm into checking out local pizza restaurants when I'm traveling. Benny's pizza and the experience gets a total of 2.5/5. I always order a large half cheese/half topping and try the cheese for my taste test. This time was a half cheese and half pepperoni/mushroom. I didn't get that opportunity this time because the hostess/register girl got my order wrong and covered the whole pizza instead of half. All I got for a response was "my bad" and later an apology when I received the pizza. They did offer to put a new one in but I couldn't afford another long wait for it. It all started with her quoting a wait of 15 minutes which ended up being 27 minutes. I've ordered enough pizzas on a Friday night at dinner time to know she was wrong however, others may not know and would have been disappointed in nearly twice the quoted wait time. The truth is, the mistake could have been compensated with a couple of complimentary cannoli. Service gets a 1/5 stars. The pizza appearance and style is an authentic NY thin crust with a great crisp that meets a well cooked cheese. The size Large is truly a size large. Style gets a 5/5. The taste was far from bad, unfortunately it was far from good. The sauce is clearly what's lacking flavor. It just doesn't stand out at all. Taste is a 2.5/5. The restaurant itself is indicative of a narrow hall Brooklyn Italian eatery with no square foot unused. It felt comfortable and cozy. The decor could use some help. For non-Italian customers I suppose it's what they'd expect. Sopranos posters, Italian jargon and slogans on the walls, a couple of Tommy guns hanging from the ceiling, you know, all the things real Italian-Americans may be fans of but aren't actually proud of enough to advertise them. One of the filthiest places we have been to in Venice. One taste of the moldy iced tea and we were out of there. It was embarrassingly bad.
