Espresso is great, it doesn't need any sweetener! I always get their latte and it's perfect. A great place to study for a couple of hours. It's a little packed but I somehow always find a spot. They also have a few outlets if you need one. It's also in a plaza so you can always find a spot to park. This is one of my favorite spots especially for getting work done late at night. read more

Pros: decent wifi, good location, 24 hours, good drinks. Cons: internet did cut out on me, temperature was uncomfortable, even with a jacket. You shouldn't freeze people out just because it's hot outside. Made for an uncomfortable work environment. Left and probably won't come back. Freezing your customers doesn't "sell more coffee". It makes them stay at home or go somewhere else. 74 degree is uncomfortable unless you're in bed under blankets. Won't return. read more

I was hanging out while waiting for a flight and loved the two lattes I got (Don Quixote and the last one on the menu, maybe called Oliver Twist?). The place is so chill I almost fell asleep. People were quiet and respectful, seating isn't too much of an issue, outlets seemed plenty enough, and I didn't have an issue with the wifi over a few hours. Barista was also really chill. The times I have gone have been around 9pm and it was pretty busy at the time. Staff is very friendly and they have a wide variety of drinks and teas along with bites to eat. I drink tea and like the fact they give you a tea bag and you can go back for hot water refill at no charge. This is my new go to place for studying when I need to and love that it is open 24/7. The only thing I struggle with is the parking sometimes but does not stop me from going. read more

I am an avid customer of this fine establishment, and could never really give it a bad review, however something's been bothering me that I would like to put in the suggestion box. I don't really coming here at night to study or paint because it's very hard to concentrate. Why, you ask? Because the barista, whom is a very cool dude whom I have no hard feelings, ONLY PLAYS PRIMUS THE WHOLE GD TIME! I can handle a lil bit of it, but dude, it's not the best flow of energy when one is trying to find a calm space to think. As a barista DJ, you have a lot of responsibility setting the space, primus is just not the right vibe for the setting. Extremely rude. I am from out of state and I called asking a simple question, if they had any teas that didn't have caffeine. I was asked to be put on hold for a moment (which was fine) but I then proceeded to listen to the girl talking about me to a coworker, cussing me out as if my question was so irrelevant and inconvenient. I waited until she came back on the line and when she came back she picked up the phone and hung up. I then continued to call back and they kept ignoring my call. For the amount of time it took for her to talk crap about me to a coworker, she or someone else could have answered my question and we all would have been in our way. I was only a half mile away so I went to the store to confront the girl and talk to the manager. The girl had pink hair and said I was the one being rude and that they were so busy to answer my question. When I pulled up there was no one there, so according to her they beat the rush within 2 minutes. Very rude. Either learn to properly put someone on hold, or teach better customer service. read more

It was my first time coming here and ordered a cold brew with vanilla. They filled the entire cup up with ice and there was barely any coffee and was completely watered down. I asked the barista for a new coffee and she just gave me a black coffee with no flavoring and not what I asked for. Very disappointed with my first experience at Bennu's. read more

I ordered the pull apart muffin and one of the mochas that was suggested when I asked what the best drink is! Really good coffee. The americano was great, no bitterness, smooth as silk. The iced Bennu (sweetened iced coffee) was also really good! This place is great for coffee enthusiasts and for normal fans of coffee-based drinks, and I'd recommend it to anyone. It's the best coffee I've had in Austin, and some of the best I've had in TX. The location is great, the ambiance is great, and it's easy to study in here due to the great lighting (doesn't make you wanna fall asleep, but doesn't burn your retinas either). The service is fine, but the coffee what really shines here. The only downside is that this place is really packed nearly all day long, but if you're patient you can snag a spot to study even during peak hours. read more

This is a great place to get work done if you can find a table. It can get crowded. The tables are big enough to spread out with a laptop and a book, and there are outlets everywhere. The coffee is strong and good. The food selection is good for a coffee shop. If you're reading or doing something not involving a laptop you'll have to search a bit for a spot with enough light. Almost always have seats, always find parking, service is always friendly, fast and helpful, decent amount of wall plugs around, caffeine in coffee is strong, food is pretty good. Love the fact that they are open 24x7. A very cool hangout spot. Delicious hot cocoas and signature coffee options. What didn't work for me though was the fact that they were very sweet. Like too sweet to even finish a regular sized glass. And if you ask them to make it less sweet, then they don't add the extra pump of dark/white chocolate to your cocoa, so you don't really get the cocoa flavor that you want. TLDR: this place is great except Aimee who needs to be fired . I would give this coffee shop 5 stars if it weren't for one employee. I have great relationships with all the other employees - Fred, Alberto, and Nadia in particular always make my day and I look forward to seeing them. In the past I used to go to the other Bennu on MLK all the time in college. Eventually one of their employees, Aimee, was so rude to me and so passive aggressive that I vowed to never go again. She played terrible emo music nonstop, and she always acted like you were an idiot if you didn't order things exactly as they came. Basically her whole demeanor was very patronizing. Over time she and a few of her friends made it a place I disenjoyed going to because they were always the entitled barista stereotype and made me feel bad for getting coffee. When Bennu took over the Dominican Joe's on soco next to my apartment I was upset because expected it to be a rude place for their ride baristas to be rude again - and I loved Dominican Joe's. However, they proved me so wrong. They were so nice I totally changed my mind - but when I told people I like Bennu I always clarified I was talking about the Soco location. Most people who know Bennu were skeptical - they had similar experiences at the other location, and when we met for coffee they all expressed how surprised they were the staff was so nice. For some reason they moved her and now she's back, jerking up the place, at my favorite coffee shop. Today I asked her for the same thing I always get, espresso with some topo on the side (which is how Espresso is supposed to come Bennu) and she told me they don't do that. Then when I said they always do she made a big show of bringing it out to me at the register and acting like it was such a chore to have to come up with a price for it so I felt dumb. I don't like to feel dumb or like an inconvenience - I go far out of my way to be sweet to people and tip everywhere I go because it matters. I won't be going in if Aimee is working - which is a huge inconvenience because Bennu is right next to my apartment - but I can't stand her and I won't contribute a cent to her jerking up my favorite coffee shop. read more

Shocked by the good reviews here. 24/7 is what they have going for them, and was our main reason for visiting since it was a holiday. If I lived in Austin, this would be a go-to for studying, reading, or just catching up with friends. Just stopped by on a Saturday around 11am and there were plenty of open tables. There were lots of interesting specialty drinks that looked tempting but we got an iced americano, a chocolate chip cookie, and a poppyseed almond muffin. There were lots of sweet and savory food options, including vegan and gluten free choices. Something for everyone! All in all, this place has a great atmosphere to work, nice outdoor space, solid vibe, tasty baked goods, but the coffee is horrible. This place deserves five stars for the coffee and service. But the wifi service here simply doesn't work, at least for me. It has always been very difficult to make a hook-up connection here, and even then the service pops in and out.
