My family has been using Bennett Excavation to pump our holding tank at our Cedar Glen cabin for the past 19 years. After rebuilding due to the 2003 fire, we were not allowed to have a septic tank as we are located too close to a nearby stream. We have had Sean and his brother Aaron out numerous times to pump the tank. It is fairly large, but they are able to get it done in about 20 to 30 minutes. They are always prompt with getting back to us when scheduling a service call and arrive well within their window promised. I feel their price is a bargain too as although gas prices and dumping fees have increased over the past years, the $350 charge has not gone up much over the years. I can't say enough good things about this company! I bought a property that two previous owners gave up on because the septic system was complicated and needed a completely new system. Sean and his team made it happen and our new system was signed off last week. He worked tirelessly with the County for approvals and exceptions and always gave honest and quick replies. Previous to hiring them I hired another company who charged me over $9,000 for things that either didn't work or we have had to re-do because they were wrong. What Sean Bennett did to us wasn't right. We put in new leach lines less than 2 years ago, and they are failing. When I asked why, I was never given an answer. I spoke with Brandi (who was extremely rude), and she had no answer. I was told me to speak with the owner, Sean. When I asked Sean why they failed after less than 2 years, he had no answer other than there's major saturation. He said a broken water main or natural spring under my ground. I asked if I would be able to see this "saturation", on my property, if theres so much, wouldn't my groud be viable? he was beyond rude and told me I sounded like I was the professional and had all the answers. I called out the water company and 2 other septic professionals, and all 3 agreed there are no natural spring or water leaks on my property. All 3 professionals agreed that what Sean was doing to us wasn't right. I had Mick Hill fix the job. He assured me his work is guaranteed, and there was no saturation. My kitchen sink had been draining slowly for the past 6 months despite having it snaked and I knew it was time to have my septic tank serviced. So, I called Bennet Excavation and thought I'd have to wait a few weeks until they could come out. However, they were able to come within just a few days. They checked my tank and pumped it which took all of 20 minutes max and it cost exactly what they quoted over the phone. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful and now my sink is back to normal. I was also able to buy commercial grade enzymes from them for monthly maintenance AND they put me on their annual maintenance plan. I highly recommend this company. Had a hole appear where our septic tank lies, called company same day and they informed me that they would call me back Monday as it was a weekend. Waited all day Monday with no call back. Called back myself to get an update, they were going to call and schedule a time for them to come out as they were very busy. It has been a week with no call back. I had to call four more times with the same reason. "Will text this to our crew and they will call you when they can" Office staff was friendly but lack of communication is not there. HOMEOWNERS BEWARE!!! These guys replaced my leach lines when i first purchased up the mountain. 2 years later, the leach lines fail, and im told it could be a water leak from the main water line, a spring, something creating too much saturation, or whatever excuse they wanted to tell that day. Their only solution was to get new leach lines in a new location in front of house at a higher price. When asked if there was a discount since the leach lines were less than 2 years old, i was told digging the trench myself was the only way the price would come down. If you ask too many questions, they'll tell you to go somewhere else. The water company was able to come out and confirm there was no water line leak. Got another quote from Mick Hill, who couldn't find the saturation Sean kept blaming things on. He couldn't find any logical reason to move the location of the leach lines, and he guaranteed his work. Sadly, the mountain community is getting hustled by Bennett Excavation. I couldn't tell you the reason for the leach line replacement 2 years ago, and when asked, Bennett couldn't tell me either. I wouldn't be surprised if "saturation" is the new post storm excuse to push more expensive services. Save your money and go with someone else. read more

If you live on the mountain, or down the mountain, but especially if you live on the mountain (which is where I live), Bennett Excavation is the way to go. These guys know what they're doing. Plumbers recommend that you empty out your septic tank before doing any plumbing work for a reason. Because a lot of times your tank is just backed up. Not only did these guys know exactly where my tank was, they dug the ground up so fast and was able to tell me what the issue was. I had 3 other plumbers out here that told me that my cesspool was not my cesspool. They were wrong. Bennett knows where your tank is, if it's working, about how much longer it will last and will also let you know if they need to be called out in the future or not. Very strong guys for the digging. Professional and obviously knowledgeable. I called another septic company and Bennett's prices were better. Horrible Experience! I do not like leaving bad reviews but I have to warn local residents in the San Bernardino Mountains. I choose this company because they had a good reputation and Bennett Senior did good work and was ethical. Not his son Sean, at least not with us. I had a simple job done to have my driveway widened and re-asphalted, plus a wall built between the driveway and the street. First off, he made me source the blocks for the wall. I emailed him the specifications with the link to webpage with the block type to make sure I was buying the correct ones. He confirmed via email 2 times that yes - those were the correct blocks. Then the wrong blocks were delivered and I was charged a large restocking fee by Sepulveda in San Bernardino. Why is he having his clients source his materials to begin with? I should have found a different company to do the job afterwards, but I didn't. Next they did a horrible job on my driveway and told us that we had to resurface it ourselves, which we did within the correct timeframe. The driveway quickly began falling apart and melting from the weight from a chair or a light weight item, leaving large dents, cracks and potholes - which we filled ourselves. He wouldn't fix the driveway which was falling apart after one season. He said that it was normal wear and tear! Since then, I've had other contractors look at the driveway and they explained that Bennett must have used cheap material and he did a poor job compacting it from the start. Next, after two winters, our wall is falling down. Sean refused to fix the wall and add some dirt to reinforce it (which he should have done to begin with). He made it sound as if we pushed the blocks over ourselves, when in fact it is our heavy winters that are a factor plus to poor construction job. Overall, I would absolutely not recommend Sean Bennett. It seams he viewed us as a quick money job and he would not stand by his work. If you do work with him make sure the project is permitted so you have a 3rd party review his plans. What we have is a deteriorating driveway and wall that is falling apart after spending $4,200, plus the expensive blocks, plus a $600 + restocking fee. Very disappointing! read more

I've already left a review for these awesome folks, but I wanted to share one of the many amazing times that Sean and Brandy treated us like family instead of invoice numbers on a sheet.. My 5 year old son was paralyzed from the neck down and I was struggling to save money for stem cell treatment. I had opened a GoFundMe to raise the money and was trying to spread the word. First time to pump my septic tank in 24 years. Sean and is assistant of 13 years quickly located the tank. Said it was steel and in good condition. Whew! Gave me 10% discount for being over 70, as well as new client. Gave me choice if wanted to use a device to aid in removal or to take longer just using suction, since all solid. They sell their own bacteria for $60 for 1 year supply. Usually charge $100 digging labor, but waived that for first visit. They were very kind and efficient. I purchased my home 4 years ago and during the escrow process, it was mandated the septic tank be pumped and certified. A local licensed C-42 contractor, Sean Bennett from Bennett Excavation pumped and certified the septic tank, NEVER disclosing the tanks severe health and safety hazards, due to the condition and location of the tank (located under the cement slab of the garage, which supports the second level of the home and manholes sinking). I did not discover this severe issue until, the septic tank was pumped last year. Mr. Bennett denies all responsibility! Regardless, the tank continues to deteriorate and I am extremely concerned for my safety and health as well as, my families. As a "professional" and "knowledgeable" contractor, Mr. Bennett should be accountable for fraud and negligence. I highly adverse, be aware and stay away from this company!!!!!! read more

I hired the Bennett family to empty my existing septic tank. They had availability and flexibility to fit into my busy schedule. They arrived promptly and were prepared for the job. When they completed the job, they had to deliver the bad news that my existing septic tank was well beyond its expiration and I needed a new one. I called around to other companies to see if I was getting a fair quote from Bennett or if anybody could offer a better price, but Bennett was the absolute best. I scheduled them to replace the tank, and they made an appointment which, once again, was convenient for me, my schedule, and my wallet. The job only took a few hours, and they came out, despite the weather being extra gloomy and mildly rainy. They left minimal marks on the property, despite the fact that they used a backhoe.
