I live in an old house. The shower lost most of its pressure one day so I called a local plumber. They estimated that I needed a new valve and they would cut a hole into the wall outside the house to access the valve. This would cost $2,200.00 and they would not patch the hole - I'd have to pay to have it closed. This estimate cost $95.00.
Risking another $95.00, I called Benjamin Franklin for a second opinion and informed them of my problem.
They waved the estimate fee because I just paid for an estimate and then they sent a seasoned plumber to my house (same day).
Mike arrived and explained to me that he would attempt to repair or replace the cartridge in the shower before looking to install a new valve. Also, if he had to install a new valve, he would do it from inside the house and repair any holes he would make.
They couldn't fix the shower on the scheduled day, so they gave me a $300.00 discount to wait three extra days.
Gregory Stanwood performed what turned out to be a (relatively) easy replacement of the shower cartridge. He was professional, informative and refused to be tipped. It was difficult, but I wouldn't stop until he took the (small) tip.
I highly recommend Benjamin Franklin for your plumbing needs. read more
