We took our youngest son (15 years old) out for a fun dinner since the older ones weren't home. Glad we made reservations because it was a busy, busy Sunday afternoon. Actually we had to do 3pm because nothing else was available. We checked in had to wait a good 15 minutes, but we did get there on time at 2:55pm. Service was slow after the lady took our initial drink order. It was another 20-25 minutes before they took our order. Sides came pretty quickly, but there was another 30 minute wait before the chef came out. The dinner took close to 2.5 hours. BUT the dinner and entertainment is all worth it. I wish I had taken mental note of our chef, but he was fantastic! Prior to him coming to our table I was watching ones around us. Some are super good, some are okay, but yikes there was some I was like I hope they are not coming to our table! The entertainment is the highlight of why people come here, so you really need to make sure these chef are highly trained on the "entertainment" aspect of their job. They really are like actors and comedians, so they need to be good at that as well. Besides being a talented chef. Food was good, so nothing to complain about that. Really good choice is to upgrade to the fried rice. It is very tasty. You can choose, shrimp, chicken or beef. I did beef since I chose the seafood dinner. Soup and salad on the side was tasty (no complaints). Our dinner came with a scoop of ice cream, I had the green tea. All and all it was well worth the price. Just know you will come out smelling like a grill (don't do what I did....wash my hair before I came here). Very loud, since there are air vents and other chefs at their tables entertaining. One thing I found hard was trying to flag down your waitress as they are doing multiple tables and it doesn't seem to be near each other. Hope to come back soon! read more

We moved up here from San Diego about 10 years ago. We have been going to shogun in the same shopping center and always compared it to our San Diego Benihana. It never compared. I was a little nervous to come to this location because I would see mixed reviews on here and also in the Temecula Talk FB group. We decided to make a reservation for our sons 11th and I was so happy we did. When we checked in we had to wait about 15 minutes. That's okay because even at shogun we have to wait with a reservation too, but at least at Benihana you don't have the raw sewage smell that you do at Shogun. The service here and the food quality is by far superior over Shogun. I was shocked. Since it been a decade since we have eaten at Benihana, I didn't know if I was just putting it on a pedestal compared to shogun, but I wasn't. It's far better and the prices are basically the same. We will definitely be coming back over and over again. I'm so happy we have a new place to do birthday celebrations. read more

Disappointing at best. untrained chefs, waitstaff forgetting items/ bringing incorrect items, and the wait time for a reservation till the chef arrived was over an hour from sitting down. chef burned all the seafood, make jokes rather I politely and with inappropriate language, and threw a raw egg on my lap trying to show off his, lack of, skills. No comped on our bills or more napkins brought after he tossed the egg on my hoody and crotch. Never called manager over to resolve the issue he created. I loved growing up going to Benihanas for birthdays at the Bellingham location near San Jose, CA. sad to say I will never visit any of this lack luster franchised to shit chain. 1/10 read more

Redemption!!! So my family & I came here to eat the first month they opened. We had such a terrible experience!! So we decided we'd give Temecula Benihana another chance. So glad we did! Thanks to our Chef Kevin( Nivek) he showed up and showed out! He was kind, friendly and humorous and our food was delicious!! We had an awesome experience thanks to Kevin! One thing I will say is that I wish all Chefs at the Temecula location were as experienced as Kevin. The Chefs are the star of the show! Horrible way to spend $500 on dinner. Went there for a birthday diner. Took approx 1 hr after reservation time to get seated. "Understandable" What is not understandable is if I order a cocktail with diet coke don't just give me one with Pepsi like its all the same. It should take 30 minutes every time to make a cocktail. Dinner time the cook was great! Food was great! Never was offered a desert after dinner ? Never sang happy birthday to my son! We were there for the birthday dinner and we were asked at the time of check in. We seen many other birthday parties and even enjoyed the one at the table right next to us. I recently dined at Benihana on September 5th between 5:30 and 6:45 pm and ordered the Filet Mignon and Scallops 6-course meal, while my dining partner had the Spicy Chicken 5-course meal. Unfortunately, my experience didn't meet expectations. First, the positives--Bill, our server, was fantastic. He was attentive, made sure our drinks were always filled, and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the issues stemmed from the back kitchen. I ordered my filet mignon rare, but it came out rubbery and overcooked, more like a well-done cut of beef. The scallops were also underwhelming in size. Timing was another issue. The chef prepared my steak and scallops first, and by the time my partner's Spicy Chicken meal arrived, my food was cold. If the chicken takes longer to cook, it should have been prepared first to ensure both meals were served fresh at the same time. I know this wasn't Bill's fault, as his service was impeccable. However, whoever was working in the back kitchen needs to improve their timing and cooking quality. This kind of experience, especially at a restaurant like Benihana, was disappointing. Yesterday I went to Benihana to celebrate winning at Pechanga with my friends. We were able to walk in without a reservation and waited only a few minutes before being seated by an extremely friendly hostess. Once seated, our server Jolene greeted us with a smile and took our drink order. After selecting our dinner choices Chef Kevin joined the table. He was charismatic and fun. Someone at the table (not with us) was dining for the first time and you could tell that Kevin was trying to show him a special experience. The food was delicious as usual. I had the Deluxe Treat (Filet & Lobster Tail) which was perfectly prepared. The entire staff was attentive but what was most noticeable were the smiles from every single member of the staff. I can't count how many times and different locations I've eaten at Benihana, but this was certainly one of the BEST experiences of had in quite some time! read more

While we were waiting for our chef to come to our table, the manager, Nicole, came to check on us, making sure we were having a good time and didn't need anything. Went here recently to celebrate a birthday. Had so much fun! The service was excellent. Our waitress Jazz did an outstanding job both being friendly and on top of our table of 10s needs. Plus the food was delicious and the show was entertaining. It's obvious this restaurant is still working out some kinks as the wait was a little long despite a reservation but I would still go back again and again. All the staff was working hard to make our experience positive and looking around it seemed like that was the case all around. Went to benihana's November 22nd. Levi was our cook and I think he put on the best show I have seen at any benihana's in years. The restaurant was very clean. We only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. I had steak which was excellent. Lobster cooked perfect. The soup the salad the shrimp everything was great even the chocolate ice cream. The people that were at our table were lots of fun and it just was an overall great time. I was very hesitant to come because some of the reviews were quite bad but I feel that's because they just opened and now that they are up on their feet they're doing a great job. So to be clear it's been yearssssssss since I went to Benihana. But last time I did it was amazing. This time? Utter fail. I ordered the chicken and rice through Uber Eats. Which led me to believe there actually WAS chicken in it. Especially since the picture shows pieces of chicken in rice. It was delivered and all it is, is chicken flavored rice that is oily and was packed into a hard square. I got this because I have a stomach ulcer and wanted something that is easy on the gut. Can't eat this because someone got a little too generous with the spices. Oh well. read more
