It was a busy Saturday and the hostesses were kind when we arrived and thank goodness was we had a reservation. We had such a fun time with chef Kelly and her tricks and information about the delicious food and ingredients! The egg toss for the fried rice and Pac-Man design to gobble up the veggies my kids loved. The shrimp tails in the hat and of course the disco ball with fire was the highlight! Everything was cooked to perfection, scallops can be hard to cook but they were melt in my mouth epic! What a fun family night! read more

Came on Halloween. A bunch of people apparently called off. Everyone who called off should be fired because word of mouth in Temecula is everything. Waited 15 min for a beer. We waited even longer for a miso soup lol. Wtf for real. Classic case of bad management, and bad hiring upon opening. If they don't find new chefs, who actually show up....this location will need to close immediately. There are two managers sitting in the back doing nothing. Wow customers are sitting unhappy and writing bad reviews. The cook that I had had been at this location on this day for over 12 hours His commitment and hard work was not unnoticed, and I was very impressed. The workers who called off need to be fired and the workers who stayed need to be promoted. Me and my family of 8 came for a late night reservation for my youngest brother's HS graduation. The service, ambience and everything was amazing! I've never been to Benihana and the service and experience exceeded my expectations. First off, there's so many stunning individuals that are staff here. Emma was our server and her personality was top tier. Sweet and fun which added to the experience. Erik, the head chef that prepared our food, was exceptionally funny and talented. My brother is a hoot and Erik was keeping up and going toe to toe with him comedically. My whole table of 9 was dying of laughter. We decided to try Benihana on a Sunday afternoon for the lunch. We noticed that they weren't very busy, and they hadn't planned their staff correctly, so they didn't have enough chefs to handle some of the people that were there. Our chef was interesting, but his Program seemed to be extremely rehearsed, and not well received by the three different parties at our station. Without mentioning other competitors, Benihana felt like a cheap copy. The food wasn't really exceptional, but it was good. I was a little disappointed. read more

We were sat right away because the restaurant wasn't busy but the service was very slow. We waited at least 45 minutes for the cook to arrive at our table to begin cooking. We were big fans of Benihana back east, so we went there yesterday for dinner for the first time. We usually go to a competitor in the area but wanted to try this location. We used open table which was easy and had plenty availability. We first sat down and were waiting for our drinks. The chef next to our table didn't turn on the overhead vent and smoked out our area and was so extremely loud. I know they are supposed to be fun and engaging but he as literally screaming lol. The server was very nice and attentive, and brought our drinks right away. Right away we noticed all the drinks tasted off....alcohol, water and sodas. Thinking it was in my head my family and I all tried each others drinks and they all had the same weird aftertaste. Pretty sure it was the ice that tasted funky. Ordered Edamame (amazing with garlic butter), and Soup and salad were good. Rice was unfortunately not cooked all the way. Def a bit hard and undercooked. The main course we went for the Hibachi supreme. Unfortunately everything ended up just being bland and a tad overcooked especially the lobster tail (super chewy) The chef was def very entertaining and attentive, but the food was just disappointing. The reviews posted are actually pretty good reviews, maybe once you are seated? Our experience didn't pass the front door. We were not greeted, by the two overwhelmed hostess that had nothing to do with the over booking, large crowd, and little space to work environment due to the gathering of the crowd of people in the front. We made a recreation for 6:30 arrived at 6:20 to check in. We were told by one hostess that it would be 30m, so we decided to go somewhere else, because the place bar area/ waiting area was packed. There were families with young kids waiting in the cold, and elders sitting on benches outside. After 30 minutes we came back to check on our reservation, and another customer in front of us was speaking with the un apologetic manager, who continually reiterated that they were short staffed. During the conversation I asked the hostess for our recreation and she said unfortunately now she couldn't give us a time. I continued to listen to what the manager had to say, but it just kept going that the manager didn't know what to do since the restaurant was short staffed. From the time of check in to the time of rechecking in, it seemed like the amount of people grew waiting in the lobby. We decided to eat somewhere else, due the mangers perspective and no idea of wait times even with a reservation. The restaurant called me one hour and 22 minutes later after my check in, and said our table was ready. What is the point of a reservation? The hostess that called didn't have any remorse for the long wait time. It seems like this is a going theme for Benihana based off of some social media posts and from employees. They must not care because the restaurant still has the business, just a bummer that a fun place like this is ran so poorly. read more

This was so disappointing it is hard to know where to start. We had reservations at 7pm, it took forever to get drinks and water and have a server come to the table. The bar couldn't process payments. The service was lacking, one filet that was supposed to be rare was overcooked so they had to get another one. One person at the table was shorted fried rice and it had to be brought from the kitchen. She was then shorted the zucchini and when the chef went to get another one and cook it she was giving it mostly raw. We spoke to the server and manager in training then the manager and it was an overall horrible experience. The grates on the grill were disgusting and dirty and looked to be days worth of grease not just one evening on cooking. We will never be back and it is embarrassing to have brought friends here who had to experience this entire meal. We will never visit another Benihana in any location. read more

I had a wonderful dinner with my husband and kids here. We went here for the entertainment and weren't disappointed. We had Kelly as a chef previously and came back because she was so skilled and fun! She knew all the Benihana tricks, like the volcano onion and beating heart made from the fried rice. Our family came during early dinner on a Thursday to celebrate Father's Day ahead of the crowds and I am so glad we chose this location to do so. As it was our first-time at this newer location! And I did make a reservation ahead of time via Open table. Our server was very witty and attentive and our chef Levi had energy that was a great follow-up. It pains me to write this but I just can't let it go. We've been to a Benihana many, many times just not this one. I saw online that you had a special in the bar or lounge for $39. We decided we wanted to try that, you get all the same things just not the cook in front of you and the kids really didn't want cook in front of you. We get there just before 5pm, 2 parties in front of us waiting and I tell the front we want to sit in the lounge and she says ok I can sit you in there give me a few minutes. We wait, and wait, and wait, and wait and at about 5:20pm she tells us that they don't have a table big enough to sit us in the lounge! I mean she could have told us that at 5pm. Ok that's fine we'll sit at a teppan table but now we need to wait until 5:30pn for a server to arrive. Finally we get sat down. The menu states we get a soup and salad, shrimp appetizer, vegetables, and then your choice of meal. We get like 4 little pieces of zucchini by itself. No other veggies mixed in like carrots or onions like what you would normally get at a place like this. He overcooked our daughter's steak supposed to be medium rare and it was well done! Shrimp appetizer came at the end because I asked about it. Onions came after the meat. The entire experience was so weird. He was awkward and not funny, food was totally under seasoned. For $350 I should have walked out of there feeling full and like it was the best meal we've ever had! We sadly will go back to our long time teppanyaki in the area before ever walking back in here again. For a business as big as Benihana this is beyond disappointing. We went there for lunch. We were there at 2pm, lunch is served until 3pm. We were given menus, unaware they were dinner menus. When the check came the amount was $141 ( for lunch? ). I asked the waitress if the lunch menu and dinner menu were the same and her answer was no, they are different and that we had been given the dinner menu by the hostess. I could have argued about the bill, but decided to just pay it and leave. I'm sure we were given the higher priced dinner menu on purpose. Cook was great and very entertaining his server was great , but the area we were sitting was very cold . there were 3 parties in our section at first i thought it was only me at first, but and we sat there the other parties also were very cold , we asked the server to please lower the ac but it seemed like we asked for it to be colder do to that cold temperatures our food got very cold fast , sorry I sound like a Karen but I would of love to enjoy my meal and not sit there cold and having to get up walk away from my area to avoid the cold temperature and having to take my meal home , cook was excellent server was excellent read more
