Excellent salads! I had the pear/ Gorgonzola, my partner had the spinach/ pistachio with chicken added. Best salads we've had in a looong time, and for much less than spendier restaurants in Bend. We sat outside with the dogs, in the shade at 2pm in July. Nice perk. Our friends had the pizzas, one of which was gluten free, and they said they were also excellent. This pizza left a lot to be desired... I'm pretty disappointed in the lack of toppings and flavor for the price. Let me start by saying that I did carry out the pizza, but I was able to snap the photo and eat the pizza within 10 minutes of my pickup time. The gluten-friendly crust up charge was $6 - which I don't mind paying, however, I do expect to have the pizza cooked correctly if there's going to be an additional charge (cooking time longer for crust/cheese ratio?!). I paid for extra cheese and I still feel like there is a dusting of cheese baked onto the pie. Absolutely empty at 1:30 on a Friday which was amazing because I had my birthday party there! Go sign up on their website- you get $10 off for your bday! My friend paid for me which was so super nice. She got me the gluten free pesto cheesy bread and the gluten free Tumalo Falls. The crust was as good as everyone says- it was soft! So rare! A couple of other things I hadn't heard that are so good- you can get a personal sized gf pizza. Amazing. If you are gf you know so many places force you to get a big pizza. Annoying! I really appreciated getting a normal sized pizza for once. Also- usually gf pizza crust is super thin garbage and I can eat a whole ton of it.... But this crust was real, hearty food. With the cheesy bread and my personal pizza I have 3 meals! Now for the toppings. I really liked the pesto and cheese. So tasty. My partner and I love BPK. It's so good for parties, especially if you have GF and vegan friends. They do it all. We usually used take-out, but more recently we have dined a couple of times. The staff is friendly and able to answer questions. The quality is great. I know it's expensive, but Bend is expensive. We don't eat here every day, but at least once a month. A friend of ours who has lived in Bend for years, told us about the Bend Pizza Kitchen. She recommended the deep dish, but also likes the regular pizza. It's become our favorite Bend pizza. We like the deep dish so much that we haven't tried the regular crust. A 10 inch deep dish is enough pizza for two people. We love the flavor of their red and pesto sauces and it feels like a wholesome meal. It's an excellent choice you can dine in, have it delivered, or pick it up. read more

I'm torn because the food was pretty good, but 47 min for 3 subs on a Sunday when there were only three other parties in the place? That's pretty bad. I know many restaurants are experiencing a shortage in labor, but I've worked the line in two diff pizzerias by myself at times and never took that long to bust out 4 pizzas (other parties in front of us) and 3 subs. Hopefully, this was an anomaly, but def left a bad taste in our mouth. As far as the food, the sandwiches were ok. My buddy and I split the meatball sub and a chicken Parmesan sub. My kid ordered the Bacon Club sub. The chicken parm was ok, but chicken was a little tough. It also didn't seem to be deep fried. There were some crispy Parmesan tuiles that provided some crunch and made up for the typical crispy bites in chicken parm. The marinara was pretty tasty. The meatball sub was good but had some engineering challenges. I was initially pleasantly surprised at the size of the large meatballs. However, once I tried biting into the sandwich, I found it difficult to get a bite with bread, sauce, and meatball in any similar proportions. The peppers were nice on the samdwich and while I'm assuming this was the same marinara as the chicken parm (where I didn't see them), I noticed large chunks of tomato in the sauce, something I really enjoyed. Overall, I think slightly smaller meatballs would make the sandwich much easier to consume. Either that or request a fork and knife. I didn't take a bite of my kid's bacon club, but did try a piece of his chicken. Unfortunately, it was drier than the chicken on my sub! We all agreed the Sparrow bread was really the star (no surprise given Sparrow's consistency and quality) The only other thing that I would comment on is that they still have no indoor seating and the bathrooms are not available. When I hopped on to write this review, I noticed the only Covid update on their Yelp page is that there is no indoor seating and no bathrooms. That notice was from September 2020! I know everyone is managing the situation a little differently, but to still have zero indoor seating and no bathrooms in July 2021 seems a little extreme. I may try again down the road, but for now I feel there are better places to grab a meatball or parm sub in town. read more

Four of us went to lunch at BPK yesterday. The food was as good as the company we ate with! Zowie! We shared two pizzas - the Canadian bacon with pineapple was terrific. The bacon was the real deal, no filers etc. and the pineapple was fresh and sliced thin. None of that out of the can, chunky stuff! The other pizza was the Molto Carne - tons of toppings. Various meats and veggies. Both were served hot and were delicious. They sell slices, 7", 10", 14" and bigger. A size for everyone. Plant based pizzas too. Now let's talk salads. The have a lot of choices and are among the freshest, most delicious I have ever had. I had a Mediterranean Caesar salad. Yum! Interesting twist on the classic Caesar. My friend had the pear Gorgonzola salad. Yikes! Looked really great. They have several beers on tap and serve a smaller list of wines, but adequate. There are non-pizza choices too. Give it a try. Many vegan options. The pizza is too doughy for me and the prices are very expensive. There's no table service and I wonder if the prices would improve if they just stuck to take out. I also didn't like that they only serve sandwiches until 4pm. Unless you run out of buns why would you stop? If you're vegan and looking for many fake meats for a pizza this is the only place in bend that has them. Update: I received the following email from BPK. Well I was impressed. So the story goes we live in NWX and have seen a few restaurants come and go from this excellent location. We were excited to see BPK move in and own the space. First visit we looked at the prices and said, this is pizza and not equitable at $30-$50 for a pizza? Ok, we did not invest in trying them out first, we just did not return until recently. The Location: Excellent NWX indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is usually fairly easy and walking or biking is always the best. The menu: A large selection with a build it yourself options. Great salads and beer and wine. The Pizza: Got to say we ordered a large, combo specialty pizza with thin and crispy crust and it was awesome. Maybe a little salty for my taste but I shoved 4 pieces of pie down the hatch. Had to run a few extra miles the next day. They also deliver, I see the black KIA pretty busy zipping around NWX. Value: well that is a tough one, if you're on a budget maybe find other menu items or a Domino's but for us and we only eat this kind of food a few times a year so for us a good enough value, we'll return. Although they're not currently offering dine-in due to COVID-19, they went above and beyond in providing customer service when I visited. This was my first time here, and I was impressed with what is offered. They have a large menu with plant-based and regular pizzas in addition to "make your own pies". Most importantly, my boyfriend and I were able to split a large pizza into two different kinds (best of both worlds). In alternative, they had outdoor dining that was clean and welcoming for guest to enjoy the nice weather. It was approximately 25 minutes for our pizza to come out, but staff members sitting around us were emphasizing that the chef who makes the pizza "makes them with love". My family was craving pizza and when someone saw that Bend Pizza Kitchen had deep dish, they all voted for a stop. It was around the lunch hour when we were passing through and found the parking lot behind the building to park. Stepped inside and it was pretty empty. We stepped up to the counter to place our order and had a seat. I noticed they had beer & wine, but I didn't try any. I think they were short staffed that day because food come out in different order than expected. Pizza came out before the cheesy bread. I did not order an entire Chicago-Style Deep Dish, but a slice. As for that Deep Dish slice? It did not taste Chicago style. The crust was not buttery nor flaky crispy. The mozzarella, sausage nor the pepperoni captures the Chicago rich flavorful ingredients, but tasted bland. I was very disappointed in this. However, I tried a bite of my sons pizza and it was better. Overall, I would stick to one of the other pizza offerings. read more

Now this is some tasty pizza! Glad so find a vegan pizza spot in town as I am constantly on the hunt for a viable pepperoni substitute, I just might have found it. The location is clean and inviting, well lit and an open floor plan. The option to choose from are numerous and easy to decipher - giving you both standard menu items as well as a vegan. They do have pizza by the slice available as well but not the vegan options. We ordered the vegan "pepperoni" pizza and read though the other menu options while we waited. The pizza came and it was excellent. The crust was the perfect combination of airy, crisp and doughy. Very flavorful and flaky but not so flaky that it cannot hold the toppings. I am unsure what the pepperoni alternative would s but it was good, though could have used a little more on the pie. This is one of my all-time favorite spots for vegan food in Bend. The crust is top notch (and as a New Jerseyian, I am PICKY) and the vegan Mt. Bachelor pizza is THE BEST. Try it with some vegan chicken wings and vegan ranch and get ready to have your mind blown! The deep dish, Dolly Llama, and Pesto Popeye are also great. I hate to give a local small business a hard time, but we've been pretty let down the two times we've eaten here. The pizza crust is tasteless and lackluster. Not much love put in there. I've gotten the vegan wings a couple times, which I'm grateful that they're offered, but they leave much to be desired compared to many other places I've had something similar. Practically an imperceptible amount of buffalo sauce on them both times I've had them. Lastly, ordering online is absolutely awful. There's such an enormous and chaotic list to order from that there have been times that we just decided to order elsewhere. Please consider the user experience of ordering and consider cleaning that up. You're likely losing a lot of business because you're making it so hard to order. Guys I REALLY wanted to love this pizza. Being able to get vegan pizza with vegan cheese and "options" is a big deal to me. But BPK just didn't deliver. The pizza dough itself is mediocre. I like my crust to be crispy but not flat and hard. I like some puff to my dough. And air in the crust. Oh air pockets in the crust is the best!!! But their pizza is just meh. Service is also meh. The staff all seemed to be new or training or just in a different role at the restaurant. The beer and wine wasn't even redeeming. It was all just okay. We have been there twice and the experience was the same. Not great food, not great service. If you're vegan, skip it and grab a Daiya pizza. The vegan cheesy bread here was awesome. If the pizza had a crust like that we could have redeemed some points but nope. Just skip it y'all. It was such a let down. read more

I'm used to getting pizza without cheese since I can't have dairy, so was super awesome to be able to get cheese on mine! Person who took our order was very helpful and nice! Only thing I wish is that they had indoor seating. Although food was average, the service we received today was terrible. We ordered a couple of pieces of pizza served by the slice, and one sandwich. The pizza came out after 5-10 minutes of waiting. We also ordered a single sandwich though. And it took 40+ minutes for it to be made. Which to us meant they had likely forgotten about it. I went up to the counter and asked about it after 25 minutes and were told it was being "wrapped up." 20 minutes later and we finally checked on it again, and said we needed it to-go since our "quick" lunch had now turned into an hour. With no apology, we were given it to-go, as if that was a completely normal wait for a single sandwich when there were only two other groups in the entire restaurant. We will absolutely not be back. The sandwich was nothing special. But, the best part of the sandwich was the sparrow roll it was served on. So we will just go next door to Sparrow in the future. Because I know people often exaggerate these things I just want to point out some photos and screen shots of our time there. We arrived at 12:40 and had to wait 10 minutes to actually order. Which wasn't a big deal because we figured you have to wait for good food. Our order was processed at 12:53 (see email) You can see that the restaurant was not very busy. We finally received our sandwich from them at 1:36 (see last picture... that's my hand holding their to-go box as I walked out of the restaurant.) I just hope that if the owner sees this they start some customer service training with their young staff that appears to be working here as their first job.
