Remarkable veggie burger! This little burger joint has a decent sized parking lot and indoor / outdoor seating. On the day of our visit, it was busy but social distancing measures and other safety protocols were in place (masks, signs, hand sanitizer was available, 6ft spacing markers). We ordered at the counter and found a table. We ordered 2 Westside Veggie Burgers and a beer. Our food was brought to us after a moderate wait. The burgers were well plated and in good portion. They came with fries. We were shocked how tasty the burgers were. I'm a vegetarian. I've had black bean patties before and they can be somewhat plain so I wasn't expecting much. My bf (not a vegetarian) also ordered one. We both loved how seasoned they were with the peppers and mushrooms. My bf felt it had a strong "kick" of heat. I though it was just right. Was very hopeful of this place as it's ranked best burger in town on multiple sites but ended up being a big disappointment. I ordered online and picked up in person because I figured it might take a while. It told me to pick up 30 min after ordering. I got there 15 min after ordering and it was super cold. I ordered the the bend burger with bacon and side salad. In addition to getting the salad under my burger, they gave me a lettuce wrap and no bun. It was basically a patty with bacon in a container of lettuce. Very odd. They should clarify that side salad actually means no bun. Upon entering the woman at the counter was extraordinarily helpful so they get credit for having friendly service. The menu has a steak sandwich made from smoked tri-top w/ cheddar and sauteed onions & green peppers, a side of fresh cut fries that were perfectly cooked -- not soft. They bake all their buns fresh, and the flavor reflects a fresh baked bun and awesome sandwich. I had to add a strawberry & Marion berry shake w/ just a little bit of whip to go. Bend Burger Company the locals all rave about this place. I heard several of them say that it's the best burger that they ever had. For me this burger was a fail. The house made bun was too large and really wasn't a showstopper. The meat was overwhelming dry, over cooked and over salted, so much salt. If this is what locals think is the best I feel sorry for them. We also ordered a BLT. The bacon was terrible. I pulled a piece out of my mouth that was a hard curled up ball. My husband and I just left Bend Burger. Both of us thought this place deserved a decent four stars out of five. The service was friendly and the burger I had was good. When my husband quizzed me on my burger it occurred to me that I couldn't really remember the meat patty all that much. I remembered a lot of lettuce and the other toppings, but the burger patty itself had not stood out to me as I was eating it. Perhaps it was a smaller patty than I'm used to, or perhaps it was buried under all of the toppings. Or perhaps it wasn't seasoned in a way that stood out to me. I really can't say. But I'd much rather eat this kind of burger than regular fast food. The fries are thick cut. I prefer more thin fries myself, as I prefer crunchy to soft. I felt that the fries were okay but not the best fries I've had. They do give a lot of fries, though--neither I nor my husband were able to finish ours. Saw this place online and had to try it out. The girls inside were super friendly and welcoming, the restaurant was very clean with lots of tables to eat. We tried the Bend Burger with sweet potato tots and garlic fries. The burger was so good, big and juicy, full of flavor in every bite, just wished it came with cheese. The bread was soft and tasted home made, perfectly paired with the burgers. The sweet potato tots were crispy and delicious, you get a hefty serving. Damnit, damnit, damnit. Bend Burger has been one of my go-to places during covid and I've been very appreciative that they've been open. I have had dozens of delicious burgers from them over the years. That said, they have obviously thrown in the towel. I saw the owners $100K+ truck in the parking lot while picking up my food at the drive-thru and that still didn't stop anyone from burning the sh*t out of the fries and serving raw bacon on the burgers. If you just don't care anymore, be honest and close your doors. I hate to see you go, but $30 for two burgers and fries is too much for the crap you are putting out lately.
