I had a really great experience at this shooting range this weekend! I believe reservations are required, at least a day in advance. We came here for some afternoon target practice and it was a gorgeous day. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms, a water refill station and fountain. There was a store on site and a chilli dog truck nearby too. After checking in, we went to our assigned lane which was clean! Apparently this range also offers archery and clay targets, so lots of options! They have multiple gun ranges too! Looking forward to coming back here. read more

My 18-year-old Patriotic Daughter took her 2nd trip to Ben Avery (first as a Freshman in High School), and now as a Senior, she loves shooting! Great Range Safety Officers offering advice, making her feel welcomed, and great people left and right offering moral support! Easy and simple shooting, the staff is helpful, it's cheap, my only issue is it's far out but that's to be expected for an outdoor range. If I have the time and it's not a million degrees out I'll usually go here. Also the lobby in nice and the restrooms are clean. read more

Always a great experience. Tip I have learned the hard way - cases are required - can not just carry with a sock on as trigger can be manipulated through it. If you shoot binary or full auto you must be seated . I stood with a binary and was instructed this is a no no. read more

My Family's 1st time here, visiting from CA we definitely will be back, easy to make a reservation, the range masters went above and beyond especially for our two children shooting, providing safety tips, helping them load and shoot targets, and even letting them use a foam pad and rifle holder so they can hit the target. They were very happy to hit a target! Also, they were very informative and friendly at the skeet range, my wife and I got to enjoy a round of skeet shooting! This is the first outdoor range I've been to and also only the second time I've been shooting, but I loved it! It felt intimidating going in but I got over it and I was simply just nervous. I like the range rules, shooting every 15 mins with breaks to change out targets, etc. The range workers are nice and very helpful. They could probably tell I am a novice but they corrected my mistakes graciously and I was very thankful for their kind attitude. They have a small shop on site to buy targets and maybe some merch, but not much else. I wish they sold ammo too! My husband and I will definitely come back and make this a regular outing of ours. read more

The Ben Avery guy lectured me 5 times and told me to leave if. 6th time says; I'm not picking on you. So; I found a free BLM range. A few miles away. 1- stand at the firing line not behind. 2- hold pistol so it won't hurt ur thumb 3- If you keeping shooting after loudspeaker, ur out. I never heard it. 4- took ear plugs out. Could hear speaker, but couldn't tell what they say. Told him. He said pay attention to beep then. 5- u must shoot at a target not the burm. Go watch a 4 min video and purchase a target. I said no thanks. I'm done. 6- comes and says I'm not picking on you. I said; that never crossed my mind until just now. 7- guy next to me said drive down a few miles to free blm ranges. The range officers have an important job To do, I respect that , and respectfully listened to him. But customers are not mind readers. BLM had rules posted on a pole. Ben Avery could do similar. Instead Their loud speakers are hideous. Can't hear it. Loud guns going off. All the time. Speaker is from 1920s era. 2 officers standing behind me and ignoring 50 other customers. This review is not for the actual shooting facilities. The review is for the grounds themselves. We attended the annual Arizona Fish and Game Outdoor Expo. Ben Avery is the perfect venue for the event. Facilities are already in place for the shooting demonstrations, and trials. There is plenty of room for all of the vendors, as well as all of the information booths. Booths may be spread out a bit, so people have room to explore and enjoy. Various food trucks were there for the event. Ample parking was available. Parking was in dirt lots. Trailers shuttled guests to and from the parking lot. For how hot and sunny it was, it would have been nice if there were some spots set up with shade tents and/or places to sit. read more

Attn: Management, Visitors, I have been visiting this Range for over 10 years and have noticed a marked improvement in Staff Customer Service, prompting me to write this review. Range Officers such as Jeremy, Russel, Dale, Chris and others have been extremely helpful and efficient in caring for visiting shooters. There is a definite skillful aspect to the ability to manage a large number of sometimes beginner level personnel, and these Officers mentioned have all exceeded that, in my opinion. I have recently been "Checked-In" by Management @ Tower (Bob) who has always accommodated my needs for table placement. I visit this particular Range every Sunday along with their other facilities (Clays, Steel) and appreciate all the employees that are there and how I have been treated lately. I had been warned that this was a very unpleasant location to shoot at before I had ever visited. Upon arrival I learned everything I have ever been told was true. The range instructors gave an unpleasant experience by basically mobbing me with 4 range instructors immediately while I was unzipping my firearms. They complained about me having too many firearms at the shooting table. They complained if I loaded guns at the shooting table, they complained if I had a shoulder holster. They complained if I wore my holster on my front left and cross drew. They complained if my revolver was even slightly tilted forward while loading shells. And all 4 of them complained over each other at the exact same time. They personally inspected my firearms then began investigating and questioning me wether my firearms were legal or not. Binary triggers are perfectly legal. I was told rapid fire was allowed before my arrival over the phone. But when I rapid fired while shooting the range instructors became very upset. Also the entire time staff was stuck on me 4 deep they were ignoring every other novice shooter including the young mixed race couple next to me shooting their first firearm. I feel like the ultra obsession that they fixated on me lead to a lack of supervision for the less experienced shooters in my area. I was told the uncomfortable amount of supervision that was fixated on me was for safety by a guy shooting next to me. I responded then why aren't 4 of them standing over literally anyone else first off and second how come c2 tactical can operate their ranges with none of the same rules and only 1 instructor with no safety violations or accidents and have a much better experience. the only response the guy next to me had was "GOOD POINT". read more

Been shooting here since the 90s. At the time it was the largest range in the world! They have this place really nicely set up for covid. Buy your range time online. The range opens for check in 15 minutes before. Find your name on the pre printed clipboard and you're at the lane number you see next to your name The place is HUGE but not as complicated as it appears at first. The clay target shotgun area is my favorite by far. Go online to learn the difference between skeet, 5 stand sporting clyas etc before you go and try them all! Lastly there's a 1000 yard range too. This place has shooting setups for all skills and disciplines. Just took my 500 magnum out for a spin. 8in barrel 44 magnum in picture for comparison. Ammo comparison too. So ...go to Ben Avery and (literally) have a BLAST! read more

The worst run range in AZ. I highly recommend you go somewhere else. They run events and charge you but don't have anyone directing traffic. So about 100 fellow shooters got stuck for more than 1 hour trying to get out of a parking lot because the range was either too dumb or too cheap to hire someone for $20 an hour to direct traffic with some flags. Horrible management! I'll drive out to Usery from now on. This is the second time in a month. I'm an avid shooter and, I will never go to this range again. read more

Great place to do some outdoor shooting. Prices are very reasonable and they have plenty of staff to assist and make sure everyone is safe. They allow shooting for 15 minute at a time and then a break to change out targets. They also check everybody's firearm during this break which was strange but I'm sure it is for safety reasons. We were allowed to shoot all our firearms including the shotguns...although they required different (metal) frame targets for it. Overall, fun place to be outside and shooting. Great shooting range! The staff is friendly, respectful and knowledgeable with all things guns, and their top priority is everyone's safety. You need to book a reservation for a shooting lane, however once you arrive, you get to start shooting quickly. The rules are cut and dry, and easy to follow to everyone can either try out their fire arms or get more comfortable with handling their piece. I also enjoy that this range is outdoor, rather than indoor. Highly recommend going to this range! read more
