This is a nice local fly shop that offers equipment, instruction, and even escorted fishing trips to various places locally and globally. I've been here twice and found the staff knowledgeable and friendly. Marc seems like a helpful guy, for example. There's a "sale room" with decent discounts and bunches and bunches of flies for sale in the center near the back. I did not experience any high-pressure sales or condescension that you can see in some shops. Located near the interstate with a moderate amount of tight parking spaces. I emailed a question to them twice without response, so I'd recommend giving them a call if you want to reach out. They may not check email. One can sign up and pay for in-store instruction classes online. If you're looking for a local fly shop, I'd recommend you stop by and see if it works for you. In my two visits, I came away pretty happy. read more

Small shop but they have what you need. Good prices great service. They work with some great guides. Great casting instruction too.

Super awesome shop! They were very welcoming, resourceful and respectful. Brought in my grandpas family heirloom and they were able to help me set it up for display. Also was able to get a new setup for myself. Being a beginner, they were showing me the ropes and were very helpful and patient. read more

Chris at AZ Fly Shop was immensely helpful today at the Winston Fly Rods event. I learned more spending some time casting with him, than all of the casting lessons combined. His practical, insightful advice transformed my cast. We just bought a Scott rod there, can't wait to get out and practice. Thank you Chris!!! read more

This is such a great and welcoming shop. I always like to stop by fly shops when I'm traveling, but I'm so lucky to have the best shop in my own backyard. Last year I was in Scottsdale and stopped by the Fly shop. They gave me some great advice about the local grass carp fishery. They were sold out of a particular Fly, so the owner let me borrow the vice and tie what I needed. He ate lunch while I was tying, and we had some great conversation. He gave me some great tips. Thank you! Sincerely, Brandon Bertagnole Park City Outfitters read more

These guys all fish the equipment they sell and have no secrets they help everyone try to catch more fish!

I've unsubscribed, sent STOP texts, and avoided this place in person... they continue to reach out for feedback and send coupons. So, now, they get one. About a year ago, I went in, got my things, and went to check out. The cashier took over 8 minutes to look at his registor and realize it didn't work. He then walked me to the free checkout stand where we stared at eachother for another 3. I told them that I am in a hurry and had to go and left my merchandise on the counter. One of the employee's [woman, blonde, over the hill] chased me into the parking lot with items in hand and proceded to pound on my car window and yell about it. Until I pulled away with her still on my car. I'll never be back to this shop. What is your problem, lady? read more

I was planning a trip to the San Juan river then head up to Durango. Went into the shop hoping to get some information about fishing those areas. The service was excellent, they took the time to give me some great fly patterns and places to fish They even recommended a guide and a place to park my RV. Both recommendations exceeded my expectations. Expert to beginner,I strongly recommend this store. read more

The folks here are very knowledgeable and generous with their time and information. I have had several great experiences at this shop, and the employees are more than happy to answer questions whether it's about what patterns they suggest, tips and tricks on how to tie, or just spending time trading stories. A specific recommendation to talk to my guy Beartrap (yes, that's his real name). read more

I stepped in a bear trap and it turns out that's a good thing. The team at Az fly shop know their stuff, have the gear and make the experience fun. Lots of information and classes and opportunities. No snobbery allowed, be fun or get out. I brought my daughter in for her birthday because she wants to stand on shore in the quiet and look busy. Lots of help and lots of product. The front is loaded with the good tools that will bring success. The back is stuffed with clothes and ... I didn't go back there because ... phhhht, clothes. Also there is a "shop??" next door that probably isn't trafficking. It isn't the pool store, it's the fly shop. When you get off the 51. be ready to turn right immediately or you''ll be forced to make a U in the "at home" parking lot and end up buying patio furniture or something. You gotta go in to understand the "bear trap" thing. read more

Everyone who works in the shop is absolutely awesome! Found everything I needed and more .

I went here today to get my husband some gifts for our anniversary. I don't know anything about fly fishing and was a bit nervous to pick things out, but when I walked up to the front door there was a sign that said "the friendliest fly shop in the world". That is a FACT! The owner, his wife, and other staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and overall just great people. The owner walked around with me for a bit, making polite suggestions, then let me shop and explore their very nice store. Like I said, I don't know anything about fly fishing, but I started asking questions about what the guys were doing, as they were weighing lines in the back - and they explained they were testing the strength and quality of the products. Pretty impressive to me! Once I picked out some "cute" flys, a hat, shirt, and a gift card, the owners wife (shoot, I should have gotten their names, sorry!) even wrapped up everything beautifully. Honestly I was so impressed and appreciated the time they spent with me. My husband had been hearing great things about this shop and wanting to go. Now I can support his shopping spree because I know these people are awesome! read more

Recently relocated to the Phoenix area. Searching for local Fly FIshing store, I found AZ Fly Shop during a "Maps" search. Have visited them on a few occasions to gain local knowledge on fly fishing locations and updated equipment. Everyone has been extremely nice and willing to help. Today I attended their monthly "Specialty Fly Tying Class" and I will have to say Mark Noble was amazing. Not only did we spend time demonstrating various fly patterns, he spent an equal amount of time talking technique and locations to practice with the flies we had tied. Everyone at AZ Fly Shop treats you like a friend not just a customer. Can't recommend this family business enough. read more

As many of us have been in fly fishing shops all over the west, we find many friendly and professional people who love the sport of fly fishing staffing them. Bar none, the staff at AZ Fly Shop are THE FRIENDLIEST! Had a great time talking with Rich about local fishing, casting, float tubes, the works. He was kind enough to show me what flies work locally and "donated" some from his personal collection to get me started. The entire staff just wants you to enjoy yourself fly fishing. If you want to hang out, go hang. Great selection of rods, reels and anything else needed. Thanks for all you do for Phoenix fly fishing! read more

We had the best afternoon yesterday. My husband needed a new pair of waders and so we went to the AZ fly shop. As it turns out, my husband was fairly hard to fit and the sales people at the store were amazing. They have a tremendous stock and were very patient and super helpful. My husband tried on many brands and many sizes and finally found one that fit and was perfect. The sales staff even called the manufacturers while we were in the store to see what options my husband had in terms of sizes. They did everything that they could and we had a very successful time. It's nice to see that there are still stores like this around and they have definitely earned our business. If this is how wonderful they are with people who come there to shop I can only imagine how wonderful their fly fishing trips are. We can't wait to travel with them! Keep up the great work. read more

I have just discovered this business and I have only been in the shop three times. I can tell you that they are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. Their willingness to share their knowledge and expertise is very apparent. I took a 2 hour fly fishing course designed for beginners from them. I was taught by a gentleman named Mark. He did an excellent job and I learned a lot. The reason I went into the shop is because I used to fly fish about 30 years ago and have decided to see if I wanted to take it up again. I have most of the necessary equipment but technology has changed and I wanted to see if there was anything I needed to replace or purchase besides new backing, fly lines, and leaders. They made a couple of sound recommendations for a newer rod which made a lot of sense. Everything else that I have including my reels was just fine. My point here is that these guys are not out to just sell you something. They are genuinely interested in helping you to have a good experience enjoying fly fishing. In this day and age, it is a pleasure to find a business that really cares about it's customers! read more
