Unfortunately, not everything was on the same level as the pork belly taco and when you're charging nearly $7 for a taco and $17 for a burrito my expectations are going to be high. Steak and egg taco (3/5) - It was cooked well. I just cant say it was anything memorable. Pork Belly Burrito (3.5/5) - it has many of the same flavors as the pork belly taco but the rice and just doesn't do anything to enhance the meal. It's more filling than the taco version, but I'd rather get three pork belly tacos for the same price than the burrito. Belly Cali Fries (4/5) - high price tag for what it is but the flavors are on point! Spicy sour cream gives it a kick while the lime in the guac cuts through the richness. I picked up an order from Belly yesterday for lunch and really enjoyed it! Placing the order online was easy. A staff member even called to clarify a question with part of the order. Pickup was seamless. I definitely want to dine-in next time. A great bright space amongst other great local businesses and restaurants. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Bowl. The fried chicken stayed crispy yet moist inside even after picking up a little late and a 15-20 minute drive home. I will definitely be back to Belly to try more from their great menu. This place is chill and a nice spot to grab lunch with a friend or pick up something easy. The people are chill but attentive and they had a nice playlist going for the afternoon. The veggie burrito alone was plenty for me. It's a little more expensive then the average burrito but it's also made with fresh quality ingredients. The veggie burrito is made with a sweet chili glaze - reminded me of dressing at Thai restaurants or a dipping sauce for fried egg rolls. If you don't like sweet this is not for you. The tofu was so tender I really liked it - it was fried perfectly. They give you a choice of 3 salsas for dipping and you can order burrito as a bowl if you want. The veggie taco also has the sweet chili glaze so it might taste similar - would be cool if it had a different sauce to mix things up. Nice addition to Rockridge. Would definitely come back again to try more things like the Korean fries subbed with their yummy tofu which I checked is totes an option. Also they have beer and wine! read more

I must say that at damn near $20 per item was definitely not worth the price in my opinion and in the opinions of the people I was dining with. The steak fries looked a bit anorexic in the steak department. Hardly any protein. The tater tots were just tater tots and whatever sauce was drizzled on them was sparse at best. My partner and I ordered takeout and shared a veggie burrito, 3 tacos (pork belly, southwest, belly), garlic aioli LA COB (elote), sweet potato fries with chipotle ketchup, and their house lemonade (tart and refreshing - mint and maybe some pomelo in it?). We were impressed with the creativity of the taco flavors and all their sauces (spicy with a kick). The meats were slightly overcooked/tough, but hefty portions for the burrito and tacos. Solid place! Excited to have a new restaurant on Rockridge. We ordered takeout and got the surf and turf burrito, belly burrito, spicy chicken burrito, and veggie taco. The prices are slightly high for a burrito, but it is obvious that they use real, high quality ingredients. The surf and turf burrito had a excellent combination of flavors and we loved the addition of the fries. The spicy chicken burrito was more of a "wrap" but super tasty and packed some heat. We liked the belly burrito although I tasted more rice than I did steak. Considering how expensive the burrito is, you would hope for more steak in there. The salsas were great though, especially the verde. Overall, it was a seamless takeout experience and our order was packed ready to go when we arrived. They accommodated our special requests (aioli on side, no cheese) which was great. Looking forward to trying more of the menu! read more

I wanted to try a place for Father's Day that we haven't been to before and chose Belly. I'm happy to report it was a great choice. I was super hungry so I ordered the steak and egg taco, a surf taco and the Korean hot chicken sandwich. My wife had the surf and turf burrito and we shared a classic fries. Everything was unique and delicious. The steak was cubed and super tender and the sunnyside up egg on top made for a perfect "brunch" taco sauce. I'm sorry I started eating before taking a picture because the presentation was beautiful too. I then dug in the hot fried chicken sandwich. Hostestly, it was the best tasteing chicken sandwich I've had since Bakesale Betty's closed downtown. The seasoning and crunch were fantastic and the chicken was hot and juicy. This is going to become a go to lunch spot for me because of this sandwich. I could eat one every other day! The surf (fish) taco was my least favorite and it was still very good. I didn't taste my wife's burrito but she said she'd order it again. And the classic fries were made my favorite way, shoestring and crispy good. I'd love to try them in one of their many burrito choices. While she was alone in the front and very busy with all the Sunday customers, our host/server was gracious and helpful and did a fine job. I would rate this place a 9/ 10 honestly very BOMBB. i went here bc i was really craving Tim's Avenue from OC so i looked up on yelp what was similar here. We ended up getting the belly burrito and the korean cali fries (replaced sirloin w/ pork belly). it was super super yummy. definitely satisfied my craving. it is comparable to tim's but the original can never truly be replaced. the fries were SOOO crispy and delicious. every bite was packed with flavor. the burrito was super filling and had purple rice which was very yum. the beef in it was also super tender and flavorful. this place was so cute and not busy. I noticed she sat guests after I ordered which I thought was weird because it was different for me--I just sat myself. The customer service could be more upbeat. I've been here a couple times and am a fan. You do have to order through a QR code on your phone which I don't love. Everytime I've been it's not super crowded so service is pretty quick. We walked in to get our pick up order but because our baby had just woken up from a car nap we thought we could actually enjoy a meal out at our Oaktown fave. We walked in and thought, "great, no one's here so we can sit." We told the lady on her laptop, behind the counter we'd stay and eat and she said that it was against restaurant policy for takeout orders to dine-in. We looked around confused because there was NO ONE in the restaurant. She looked at us and said "it creates too much waste." We're already eating out of compostable containers so...? So we took our food and our baby, walked back to the car and started our hour plus drive home. Total bummer. read more

Popped in for a late lunch. I got the Belly Bowl as well as an Arnold Palmer. I liked the decor and the clean vibe inside. When I came in there was no one at the counter so I wasn't exactly sure what to do but once I saw the QR codes I figured it out. I did see another person order at the counter later, however when I arrived there was no one at the counter. My Belly Bowl was underwhelming. For $17 it's rice, steak, aioli, and what looked like either chopped romaine lettuce or napa cabbage (not sure if that's the "Korean Slaw"?). The steak was cooked and seasoned nicely. However because the rice takes up about 80% of the volume, I found the dish to be bland. The rice was also mushy. I think maybe changing the ratios of ingredients could help, or adding more salt to the rice. My Arnold Palmer was really good but it was $5.75 with no refill. Overall I found the prices to be very steep, even for bay area, especially considering you are ordering via QR code. I found the main dish to be underwhelming in flavor and not allowing refills on iced tea + lemonade seems a bit extreme. I did like the interior design and laid-back vibe though. Sounds like perhaps I should try the tacos if I come back again. read more

Belly is yummy! If I'm really hungry I get the veggie bowl, if I just want something small, a taco is perfect. The tofu is crispy, with a sweet chili glaze that's mildly spicy. The southwestern steak burrito was literally one of the top 40 or 50 things I've ever eaten in my whole life, and I'm 53. Eaten a lot of stuff. And the owner, Alice, is super nice and just wants some Rockridge neighbors to stroll on down and try some of her great offerings- the same ones they serve up down on Telegraph in Temescal. The shoestring fries are super hot and crispy. Kids loved em. The chocolate chip cookies are also amazing, served up nice and warm. I want to try so many things on the enticing menu, but the steak burrito was so good, I just don't see how I'm gonna have the balls to stray from it. read more

My friends and I were headed to Crepevine, but were stopped by the free samples on the sidewalk at Belly. The tacos were so good that we couldn't resist coming inside for brunch! Everything we tried was excellent, especially the shrimp & avocado tacos. All of the staff were extremely kind and attentive, and the owner even came to check on us multiple times throughout the meal. Whoever was on aux deserves a raise because the music was so good. The person behind the counter was not wearing a mask. I asked her about it and she said that "it is not required". While it's unclear what the status is in Alameda County, I think it is very disrespectful to customers to be working with food and people not to wear a mask. Ordered a burrito and a bowl and I see what they are doing - food quality and presentation are high can't argue there.
