    a row of tea brushes

What a beautiful store upon entry, followed by slight disappointment when I asked if the space in the back was for sipping tea; it is not. A true shame. Even still, I browsed around and laid my eyes on almost every item that had on shelving and tables. If you're a true tea connoisseur, you'll love this place. Temperature controlled tea pots, matcha sets, tea cups, and of course, loose tea to name a few things. I laid my eyes on this beautiful loose tea sitting in a small dish in front of its canister. At first whiff, I knew I had to take this home. No 14 Valentine - you're welcome

Enter the door you would not expect what lies behind those doors. Tranquil tea atelier, with gourmet curated tea flavors, decorated so quaint and lovely. The tea can be bought in smaller paper bag pouches or in the adorable yellow or black tin cans. Definite must stop if you are in the area. Staff were so friendly and nice.

When I entered Bellocq Tea Atelier, I felt like I'm in a tea house in a quiet mountain village. The scent of the store made me feel calm. They have a variety of tea and some teacup. Great decorated store, great designed tea-case for gift. quite high price.

We found this hidden gem when we were walking around Greenpoint and we were so glad that we did because this is now one of our favorite places to get tea in the city. It's definitely up there with Kettl, another tea place in Brooklyn although Bellocq has a wider variety in terms of where the teas come from because Kettl focuses on Japanese tea. The shop is a bit hard to find, but they usually have a sign outside of their door when they are open. The shop is gorgeous with pastel pink colored couches and is the perfect place to stop by on a cold day. They usually have two types of tea that you can taste as well as a few selections of jam. Their teas are also packaged really nicely so they are great for gifts and they sell ceramics as well. The people who work here are also really friendly and knowledgeable. They will do everything they can to help you look for something that's right for you. They also have a free tea tasting based on different themes and regions for a few hours on weekends (the times and days change depending on the season so make sure you call ahead of time before making your way to the shop if this is something that interests you). They had three samples of Himalayan tea the first time we went, which was interesting since I had never had Nepalese tea before. Whether you're looking for gifts or a special tea to drink at home Bellocq is worth a visit on your next trip to Greenpoint.

I've had this Earl Grey 'pin' on my Tea board https://www.pinterest.com/Christylmom/tea/ for years now. Always loved the gorgeous canister... however the price was high and I wasn't sure when I would be able to actually go to visit or order on-line. Skip ahead a few years and they had free shipping on orders over like $50.00 I proceeded to order the following: No. 47, The Queen's Guard - Yellow Traveler Caddy (4.75"), 2.5oz/71g No. 01, Bellocq Breakfast - Bellocq Box, 3oz/86g No. 35, The Earl Grey - Bellocq Box, 3oz/86g this morning I enjoyed a cup of Earl Grey it was strong and scented my home nicely LOL. The packaging was meticulous, from the bright yellow textured cardboard boxes the teas come in to the parchment paper they are wrapped in and sealed with the initial 'B' this says classy. I ordered on Tuesday of this week and it arrived yesterday... not bad from New York to California. I like that I received timely emails regarding my order and I can't say enough about how I am wowed at their overall care with presentation. Respectfully Reviewed

Mediocre quality, poor customer service, and lots of twigs and sticks in certain teas -- I don't want to pay for 1/4 of my purchase to be sticks.

I'm from LA and was visiting NYC for vacation. I wanted to grab my mother something from New York but not too touristy. She loved tea and so I made my way across to Brooklyn to this small shop hidden away. I was not disappointed. I was greeted with a warm welcome from one of the workers and was given a mini explanation of the store. There were so many different kinds to choose from and I felt a bit overwhelmed but thankfully the store worker explained everything. It was easy to make a choice after that. My mom loves the tea. I wish she could've been there to see the store. The environment is cozy and it feels like what you would think a natural herb tea store should feel like. I would definitely recommend going here if you love tea or want to pick up tea for someone else?

I blog about tea, so in "the circle" I kept hearing about Bellocq Tea Atelier so I decided to meet with a friend there and check it out for myself. It's the second time I ended up in this part of Brooklyn. I guess I love my neighborhood too much to venture out of the "hood". I really enjoyed going there, though. The place is small and you have to ring on the doorbell to get in. There is a rope by the door (I thought that was the thing to pull in order to ring the bell haha). Anyway, the place is lovely. The selection is really nice, and all the teas presented are of great quality. I also noticed that they sell silver strainers, which is something I would love to get next time. My friend knows I love tea (and even blog about it) and decided to get me some Dragonwell. I had some today and it's definitely a great tea I love to drink in my little Gongfu set. Highly recommend for all tea lovers or anyone interested in experiencing tea as it should be. Removed one star for that doorbell thing. Quite unwelcoming. Also, the person at the counter was a bit cold. Maybe she had a bad day but really when it comes to this kind of high-quality tea, the best is to have someone who shares/shows some passion. We potential expensive tea buyers after all.

For anyone who is a fan of premium teas, Bellocq tea is at the top-tier of herbal artistry. So although it takes a significant amount of time to get here from the city, and considering there is nothing else to do once you finally do arrive, I am still willing to give them five stars. This is because going to Bellocq is comparable to finding your way to Narnia. Near the inconspicuous, black door you'll find a doorbell. Behind it, a lush wonderland awaits! With green plants hung along the ceiling, a full wall of large Bellocq tea cases, a layout of tea samples to smell, and a back room with vintage couches and plants, there is no place I would rather get my tea. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful which is entirely conducive to tea shopping. I eagerly await the tea room that will be opening soon! It will give me another reason to haul myself over to the rapidly expanding Greenpoint area.

OMGosh am I happy to have discovered this adorably cute and awesome tea shop. First off the inside is absolutely beautiful and makes you want to just stay there and relax. Second off the lady working there when I picked up tea was super friendly and awesome and cool and I want us to be friends. Third I love hibiscus tea and green tea (they have many types) and my boyfriend loves earl grey. Needless to say, I walked out with $70 worth of tea. I'll be back!

An absolute hidden gem! An abundance of flavored, beautiful atmosphere, very kind and helpful service. Be sure to ring the bell when you arrive! ;)

The decor is incredible inside the space, and the staff are equally kind and attentive. We got the grand Vanderbilt tea option, and tried the English breakfast tea, Darjeeling, and Earl Grey. The sandwiches were all rather delicious, though I found the scones a bit dry. The desserts were small, but also delicious. I wouldn't come here if you're extremely picky about afternoon tea food as the food was pretty standard. Overall, I think this high tea is quite good for the value, and the staff were always stopping by to check if we needed a tea refills. I had a morning to kill before a work event and wanted afternoon tea! This reservation was not easy to get and I was lucky to snag a less desirable 10am ish reservation. It was cold outside (all the inside seats were full) but they provided warm, fuzzy heated blankets so it wasn't much of an issue. I wish I'd been able to pick which tea I got but the house black tea they served and picked for me was good. The sandwiches were delicious but I found the desserts to be lacking. Service was wonderful. There's only one bathroom and it was very clean and aesthetic, like most of the decor. It screams maximalist and vintage, very fun. Everything was good but I'm not sure if it's worth the steep price. There's other more reasonably-priced afternoon tea service options in the city.

This is my first time at the Brooklyn location and I really liked the zen vibes and minimalistic decor. I prefer a more earthy, grassy matcha (aka the uji) but I wanted to switch it up and went for the nishio in a hot cortado format. It was indeed very creamy and floral. I also got to try the yame matcha latte with oat milk. The yame itself is advertised to be more nutty and the oat milk definitely amplified it. Both drinks had really well mixed matchas with a good milk ratio respectively. While I would give their matcha and location a 5, I dropped it to 4 for this particular location due to their service. I'm not sure what didn't click but we had so much trouble trying to order the usucha matcha. We tried the name usucha twice and even tried alternative names like the short serving. She said a bunch of things but didn't really explain if it wasn't available or had other recommendations. We gave up and went for the yame matcha instead. I would definitely be sure to get the miso salmon next time I'm here. The place was very cute with nice little tables for individuals. The place was very cozy with lots of sunlight coming in. Very modern with plants all around. It was so loud with people talking over each other. There were too many people on a Sunday afternoon so I had to walk around or cut through people to get my way. It was that crowded. I also didn't expect this place to be on the second floor and the stairs to be that steep. It was hectic carrying my stroller upstairs. Luckily someone helped me get down! The stairs are very narrow so I had to hold onto the rail. It was not ergonomically friendly at all.

Some of the items inside look like they're either for sale or just meant for display, which is fine, but I feel like it distracts from the main purpose, which is serving food and being a comfortable resting spot. It's no fault of the place, but the vibe is a mix of reggae, African folk music, and incense, and it contrasts sharply with the environment outside. There's an Italian restaurant across the street blasting Frank Sinatra type music, so the clash is noticeable. I feel like maybe the sound could be adjusted or balanced somehow. As part of the promotion, I ordered the vegan lentil soup. It was okay, nothing special but not bad. Then I was served an iced chai latte, and most of the spices sank to the bottom under the ice. After I swirled it, the spices still didn't have much flavor. It wasn't strong or pungent, and you couldn't really taste the spices or feel any of the digestive benefits chai is usually known for. It didn't taste like tea; it was just mildly sweet. I could see myself drinking it with a dessert, but it didn't stand out on its own. The service was friendly.
