Visited my daughter in Brooklyn Heights, Salter House was the first place she took me to. There I had the best decaf I ever had -- and good decaf is hard to find in New York. Well Salter House has the best. Anywhere, actually. I don't know how they do it, next time I visit I will ask what the secret is. The place reminded me a lot of Pierre Lafond's coffee plus shop in Montecito, CA (a suburb of Santa Barbara). This was a pleasant surprise since I used to live in Montecito and miss it. So thank you, Salter House, till we meet again! (BTW, customer service was great, we felt treated with attention and respect, and the decaf, tea and pastries were the best. We sat at the window; the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant.) read more

I was very disappointed with my Salter House experience. I ordered the Gardana Clogs and used their size guide to select my size, but when they arrived, they were far too big--even though I had ordered the smallest size available. Given the price point, I understandably wanted to return them. Unfortunately, the return process was more difficult than it should have been. I had to email Salter House just to learn that I would be responsible for return shipping, which was nearly $30 due to the weight of the shoes. They did not provide a return label, despite the sizing issue stemming from their own guide. Overall, I found the customer service disappointing. At the very least, they should have provided a return label. I expected more from a company at this price point. read more

Unique shop with a very cool and relaxing atmosphere. The staff is absolutely amazing! There is an array of quality items, from clothing, accessories, gifts, household items as well as a small cafe that offers coffee, tea and Gluten-Free pastries. This is truly a Brooklyn gem! read more

Also the employee paused making the bagel, touched merchandise (specifically a try-on shoe) with the gloved hand, then went back to making the bagel. read more

This is the cutest coffee shop inside a what I'll say upstate farmhouse vibe with vintage objects. I had the 12 oz cappuccino and it was really good. Highly recommend. Generous seating too. read more

similar to other reviews, the staff were really rude there. i just spent a nice chunk of money there and was given an attitude by the salesperson (i believe manager) for no apparent reason. i understand retail isn't fun and it's challenging to work w certain customers, but please be mindful of how that's getting displaced to people who are simply supporting the shop. read more

Such a special shop and cafe. I've been a longtime fan of their sister store Picture Room and was over the moon when they decided to expand and open a home goods space next door. Salter House offers such a carefully selected collection of home wares that are all natural, and the kids items I've purchased there have been so loved. Favorite time to go is on a weekday afternoon and sit down for a proper tea service by the window and see what's new in the shop. read more

I was new to the neighborhood and in need of a house sitting gift for my friend, not only did the incredibly warm staff assist me in selecting the perfect present, but I ordered a really great coffee to eat with a treat (I'm vegan and gluten free!). I really wanted to love this place. I gave it three chances. All three times I went in there I was completely ignored by the staff. I don't really like staff that hovers over you. But this was the complete opposite. Not even once did they look up and say hi. Not once did they stop their conversation and ask if I needed help. My third visit I stood there for 3 minutes and they never stopped their conversation. I walked out. They are horrible. read more
