So for years, I've been grabbing friends by the scruff of their neck as they try to walk into Starbucks, and dragging them into D'Amico. Not on my watch. I bring them over, and watch as their eyes widen in wonder. I watched her marvel over the machine mixing and roasting beans in the back of the shop (used to be in the front). I watch them peruse all the options, finally picking a blend (organic, fair trade Sumatra maybe, or French Costa Rican). I listen as they and the helpful coffee guy discuss the type of coffee machine they have, and watch him grind the beans into a bag specifically for them. And then I allowed them to kiss my ring for showing them where they SHOULD be buying coffee. For the past decade or so, we've also been gifting a bag of coffee to a lot of our loved ones, because it's a useful gift that everyone can appreciate. You can do this too, and you don't even need to give me credit for the idea.

I tasted a piece from her and I was hooooooooked!!!!!! Every time I went here to get it(Kouign-amann), it was sold out!!!!!!! It is buttery and sweet and delightful!!!!! They have other great delights here but my focus is this particular pastry!!!!! The customer service here is very polite and sweet ....like the pastryThe pastry ( Kouign-Amann) is stuff with caramel my absolute favvvvvvv!!! Usually they are not stuffed, the pastry..... Also they sell out of the (Kouign-Amann) by mid morning ( like around 11am GET THERE EARLY.....so I think the best time would be early morning..... This place gets lightly crowded so seats may be scarce... This place is great to have a sip of coffee and a snack and great conversation. The space is sweet and looks like a great workspace. Very comfortable and alluring. I give this place a 100/10!!! Absolutely a very kool vibe for sure Recommend highly

This is a really cute café that has gorgeous leather furniture, lighting fixtures, and cool plants everywhere, very modern looking. The music they play here is great too. I was a little disappointed to see that their food menu was quite limited, and by that time of day, there was really only one savory option that stood out to me, the Parmesan and leek pastry. I ordered this and had the barista heated up for me, as well as print out a receipt because this is how you access the Wi-Fi. I sat in the corner along the wall on a wooden bench and attempted to do work on one of the small metal tables. The tables are quite low, so this really isn't a great place to get a ton of work done in my opinion, as well as the fact that the Wi-Fi only works for 30 minutes and after that, you need to go back up and get another receipt for a code. I was also a little disappointed in the pastry itself, as it wasn't fully heated and was a little too greasy for me. I can't speak on the coffee here, but it did look like they provide high-quality options. Vibes and aesthetic are high but I can't say I'd come here again.

Most of the best places are too crowded to ever find a seat, and others are intentionally inhospitable to laptop parkers, for understandable reasons. Capitalism is a b*ch. I was hopeful when I saw photos of Nostrand Cafe's long bench that looked primed for coworking. Turns out said bench can get rather crowded, and you better hope your laptop battery holds up, because there are no outlets. I squeezed into a corner seat, but was happy to just hang out for an hour to work while I sipped on a matcha latte and ate my bibimbap. Which brings me to perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of this cafe. It's that they also serve Korean food. Find anything from kimchi fried rice to bibim gooksu and shin ramen on their menu. I also see now that they even sell soju, beer, and kombucha on tap, which I find a bit peculiar since they close by 5pm. I may add this to the coworking cafe rotation, but if anyone has cafe recommendations for a spot that's easy to work from and also serves savory food, I'm all ears.

Like, we-think-you-don't-have-a-day-job kind of late. Noon-ish. On a Tuesday. I don't know who their target demographic is, but it's not anyone with a functioning calendar. When you do manage to show up during their elusive open hours, you're greeted by... well, "greeted" is generous. The staff makes you feel like you interrupted their private cheese cult meeting. Don't expect warm conversation -- unless you're the cheddar. There are free samples, which I respect. If you're feeling broke and brave, you could turn it into a little snack crawl. And the cheese? It's fine. Not bad. Not transcendent. Just... cheese. Maybe you'll find something aged and interesting, or maybe you'll walk out wondering if Trader Joe's would've hit the same for less. Verdict: Free samples Absurd hours Staffed by dairy gatekeepers Cheese that says "eh," not "ooh"
