Love the curated sections like the one with BAM-recommended titles. They also bring new releases in at lightning speed. A few weeks ago, I came for Richard Scarry-themed Inciardi prints and a new book but stayed for the quaint yet busy atmosphere where turning every corner feels like uncovering a hidden literary world. The kids area in the back is ADORABLE and features a little reading cave. In love with the cookbooks and architectural books around there, too. Their website notes upcoming literary events and is well-organized; full of fun BAM-themed merchandise. Open 10AM - 6PM *daily* -- support local!

We had the worst experience at this bookstore in trying to return a new book . We were told the…read morebook was "used" because we opened it to look at it . How do you discover a book without "opening" it . The woman was so rude , the book they sold didn't even have a barcode . The seller was even flustered when we said we didn't want it and wanted to donate it then and she almost would not take it at a new and USED bookstore. The staff unfriendly and unhelpful.

Recently, I was there on a weekday afternoon - literally only one of two people in the store, the other being my friend - and we were looking at books, casually browsing, and chatting to one another at a quiet volume. I visited this Brooklyn Heights location of Books Are Magic this past weekend with some friends…read more I'd been to the shop's first location (Carroll Gardens) before - it opened in 2017, but I hadn't realized that this location opened in 2022! But we were wandering around and just came upon it. The store is a good size; you can definitely lose time exploring and browsing. It doesn't feel as tight as many independent bookstores can either. Founded by author Emma Straub, both Books Are Magic locations have some really wonderful touches: lots of recommendations by booksellers on the shelves, a large section of translated fiction, and merch for bibliophiles. I had to be dragged out - but not before I picked up a book that I hadn't seen on/in any tables, endcaps, pyramids in any other bookstore in the last few months. If you love to read, Books Are Magic is well worth a stop to browse and get inspired by a new read!

The Community Bookstore has everything I want in a neighborhood independent book store. When the other store didn't carry it (disappointing), I knew I would find it at Community Bookstore. They carry an excellent selection of new fiction, harder to find fiction, classics and everything In between. If you can't find what you are looking for, they will happily order the books for you for pick up and even delivery. They have an amazing author events which, I really enjoy. Books are a huge part of my life and I love to Community Bookstore.

We even ended up chatting about the latest season of the Bear, which made the visit feel really welcoming and personal. I actually walked out with a physical book, which is rare for me since I typically use the app Libby to read. I ended up picking up Yesteryear and the waitlist for this book on Libby is MONTHS. So I was happy to finally have a copy in my hands instead of waiting. The store has a cozy neighborhood feel, and it looks like they also have a little outdoor space, though I didn't get a chance to check it out. Definitely a great spot to support an independent bookstore and browse for your next read.

I am an average breeder and I would much rather purchase books from independence store and from online. The store is a nice space aesthetically. There is also a coffee bar which is a good plus. I feel the service is only fair. Sometimes, I have had helpful and friendly staff and at other times, I have felt either invisible. It's not a warm cozy bookstore.
