Troubled Sleep has a great mix of new and old books that will draw the attention of people who love every genre. They have a few carts of $1 books out front, a table of new books in the center of the store, and then shelves of used books lining the shop walls. While perusing the shelves I stumbled upon an old statistics book with handwritten notes in the margins and knew I had to take it home. Something about it was absolutely magical and I smile now every time I see it on my shelf. The owner was there working and was so kind. I heard a few people brining in books to sell as I shopped around and it was exciting to learn about the kinds of books they were able to accept. If you're selling books I'd recommend bringing in books that were written by popular authors!

A great neighborhood bookstore, mostly used, with an extensive and quirky selection.

When the other store didn't carry it (disappointing), I knew I would find it at Community Bookstore. They carry an excellent selection of new fiction, harder to find fiction, classics and everything In between. If you can't find what you are looking for, they will happily order the books for you for pick up and even delivery. They have an amazing author events which, I really enjoy. Books are a huge part of my life and I love to Community Bookstore.

We even ended up chatting about the latest season of the Bear, which made the visit feel really welcoming and personal. I actually walked out with a physical book, which is rare for me since I typically use the app Libby to read. I ended up picking up Yesteryear and the waitlist for this book on Libby is MONTHS. So I was happy to finally have a copy in my hands instead of waiting. The store has a cozy neighborhood feel, and it looks like they also have a little outdoor space, though I didn't get a chance to check it out. Definitely a great spot to support an independent bookstore and browse for your next read.

It's not loud like other book bars in Manhattan but it could get hard to find seating. The staff seem pretty friendly. However, the owner seems to be standoffish. Even when complimenting her business, she acted a bit "uppity" to me. Look, maybe it was an off day for her, but you're supposed to represent your business and that's not a good look. Yikes... I think this is a cool spot, just avoid the owner if it looks like she is having a bad mood

I attended this week a book club event there to discuss the novel, The Bluest Eye, with a woman-owned organization called Lit Club. As soon as I entered this place, I felt like I was in a Hallmark movie. I was cheerfully greeted by the barista/bartender and told to sit anywhere I'd like while waiting down the event to start. The front had the bar are and the back was where all the books were located. They had a great selection of wines, cocktails and beers. I decided to go with a glass of Hibiscus champagne. I went back to the bar for a caramel honey espresso towards the end of the event but they had turned off the espresso machine already because they were closing in 40 minutes. They also had ran out of pastries by that time. Surprisingly, it wasn't too loud with other patrons who were there hanging out while we had our book club session in the back. It definitely is a great venue for book events since the chairs were comfortable and it sets a vibe that makes you want to to explore the book world. I would definitely come back for another event but would also make sure to order cookies and coffee early in the evening.
