On the B103 heading home, I noticed a new bookstore blocks before the bus turned on Coney Island Avenue from Church. It took a couple more trips until I finally had the chance to visit (just a quick walk from the nearby limited B35 bus stop at Coney Island Avenue). This space is definitely roomy. I can imagine this as a convenient place for parents of young children to take them for a time. Like a typical independent bookstore, it has recommended books and tags throughout the store. Everything is spaced out in obvious sections so you won't get confused trying to find a book. So this place is definitely designed by someone with bookstore experience. What I like about independent bookstores is when they delve into their themes if they have one. In this case, I could definitely see some pigeon themed merchandise that I thought was so cute. In addition, they like many good bookstores have local non book products including candles, stickers and notepads. They also sell cards (I won't confirm or deny that I bought two Beyoncé themed Christmas cards). They also have a membership where if you spend a certain amount, you get $5 off. Which is great if you have a book addiction. I can see this place a nice place to go and peruse.

NEW LOCAL BOOKSTORE! I'm thrilled to see Lofty Pigeon Books opened! I visited the new store on Saturday for the first day of their soft opening. Their Grand opening is on September 9th, so the store is not fully stocked. They renovated the space of a drab eyeglasses store and transformed it into an airy, bright store with nicely designed tall shelving on either side of the store. And two tables of books to browse in the center. The vibe was welcoming, and I could see smiles of appreciation as people opened the front door for the first time. I bought a book, Hotel Splendide by Ludwig Bemelmans -- Pushkin Press, one of the friendly owners rang me up. Congrats to them and their new independent bookstore! I can't wait to return for more. Lofty Pigeon Books is a few stores down from Hinterlands (great bar) and Der Pioneer (fantastic bakery and coffee), so there are great options for buying your book and finding a nearby nook to start your read.

Very friendly and well stocked local book store!

Such a cute spot! If you are ever looking for a custom gift to give to someone (or for yourself!)…read morethis is the place to stop at. Handmade jewelry, candles galore & specialized small batch food items, like tea & hot sauce. Some of the items are a little over priced but over all the place seemed affordable! Walked away with a chai tea concentrate that I'm excited to try!

This was the first Brooklyn gift shop I went to when I first intentionally looked for a gift shop…read more I was already along cortelyou when I remembered this place existed. I needed some small trinkets for a friend's daughter and they delivered. I appreciate that it delves into different topics despite its small space such as food and related accessories, drink accessories (ex: corkscrews/drinking glasses), clothes and home design. Nine times out of ten I can get a gift for a friend from here that is unique. There are items there that are made by Brooklyn/nyc artists. But depending on when you visit, there are not too many things that are NYC/Brooklyn themed (there was an ash tray, a puzzle sets, magnets, & keychains when I visited off the top of my head). To my knowledge, there is not a website that shows all they have available without visiting but I would recommend looking at their Instagram to see what new things they have plus to see what events they are holding. It is relatively cramped even when you are one of two people perusing the store. Every time I visit, there are new items to look at. This of course means that some items you may have seen previously are gone. But they do have items that you are sure to see when you visit such as Breukelen Rub spices, Mike's hot honey and the street sign magnets that I love (I have multiple). If I am looking for a gift for a friend and I wanted a twist, I would come looking here. Is there a guarantee that I will find what I want? Not necessarily but I will have fun trying

There's a little old lady that owns this shop. She's amazingly kind, funny, and sweet. I stumbled…read moreupon here when I was shopping for birthday presents and wrapping and she helped me out picking to match colors too. My two best friends had a dual birthday and I noticed this was next to Heart to Heart, so I decided to check it out. This store has a variety of funnies so it's cool to check out and also a shop I impulse-buy-indulge on. Each section of the shop is well put and often restocked. I liked how there were sample testers for the lotions. Also there's your usual card selection in the back along with gift wraps, gift bags, and decorations to pick up. I also love cheese, but I'm just tempted to buy one of those mystery cheeses near the shelves or those seasonal delights/chocolates/cookies on the middle table. Also, I'd come back for the Pre de Provence soaps, Crabtree & Evelynn sets, and Tea Forte samples/cannisters. This is probably going to be my favorite shop.

They have a much better selection!!! Also they have little gifties! Plates, napkins etc for birthday parties, like Hello Kitty !! My personal fave ;) They sell candles, incense, books and some funny gag gifts like gum with funny sayings or pins that say Brooklyn Princess.. Okay maybe the princess thing isn't really up my alley but it's still pretty cool! I will totally come and pick up some funny things for my friends upcoming birthday. They take CC but beware there is a 10 dollar minimum! Though with all the cool items they have , it seems like an easy sell to me :)
