Dr. Donald Schneider and Dr. Zachary Schneider are hands down the best doctors I have ever met of any kind. We mostly saw Dr. Donald Schneider but both passed a very difficult test - one subjects tha t mattered to me theyy were better informed than Wikipedia or simpe Google searching. They had been recommended by a friend of a friend and so while pregnant with our first child we went for a meet-n-greet. I was impressed by Dr. D. Schneider. He was honest, to the point, knowledgealbe, kind, and humble. Every answer to a question was a balance of experience and up-to-date knowledge on various subjects. I had no interest in the alternate vaccination schedule, but asked what he thought. He said he did not reccommend it but it was "not my wy or the highway" - he was always mindful of us being our child's parents and working with us on our son's care.
He was straight forward and whie not insensitive did not sugar cot things or ty to give us s sales pitch. He could always justify clearly and analytically his recommendations. If he did not know, he would say he did not know. They were amazing and while we did not always take their advice, they were always right.
A few examples, our son had diarhea that was getting worse every day. We talked t othe doctor and he immediately knew tah what was going onw as not an infection (any more) and a temporary diet change cleared it up the next day. In the hospital after the birth of second son, he eard a hear murmor. No one else hat even noted it. An echo confirmed he was correct. He was also always practical and in other instances accomodating. Our older son had a condition tha required semi-frequent urinalysis. They had the dip test machine in office buthad to send out for cultures. Our specialist wanted our son to be catheterized each time (which increases risk of infection and is super uplesant because our son screamed through it). Dr. Schneider said he would not do it anymore (Dr. Zach Schneider did it actully) a bag would have to be good enogh, BUT they would make sure the sample got ot the lab right away as opposed to sitting around waiting for the normal pick up.
About bed-side manner, our son was afraid of doctors after so many unplesant trips to Children's (he even screamed once when we went intoa nursing home because it smelled like a hospital the moment we walked in the door). Any pediatrician who is any good at allis good with kids and plays with them while doing a check up, but he was always patient with our son and tried to lay games and distract him while he sat terrified on my lap. He never lost his cool with our son. He does speak very quicklyand give a lot of info in every apt. and my husband and I always left feeling like we wished we had recorded it because we knew we were forgetting something...we did take notes.
It is really a special place. The waiting room si fun (if atypical), the staff is super friendly and on top of things. The office is quaint and home-y to say the least. There is a CBC machine so we got blood test results quickly for most things. The nurses were friendly. There was no seprate waiting room for sick/healthy but the time spent in waiting room is always short because they prefer you wait in the rooms. I am unsure if the rooms were spearated by scik healthy, but it seems possible based on our experience.
