So far, so good! My family recently moved so I began searching for pediatricians not too far from me. I specifically was looking for African-American pediatricians that had good ratings on Google and Yelp. It was hard but finally I came across TLC pediatrics and I was so happy I did! We are still new patients; my daughter's first visit was less than two weeks ago. Everyone we encountered was very nice and personable. Even when I scheduled the appointment, the receptionist was very kind and patient. There was not any long wait times... just a typical 5-10min here and there. My daughter enjoyed her visit up until her immunization shot lol. The rooms are definitely kids friendly and they have toys to keep children at ease. My husband and daughter returned yesterday for a sick visit and it was super easy to schedule! He also told me that it was empty and he had no wait time. He told me he really loved this office and looks forward to continuing to have our daughter go here. Btw Dr. Long originally saw us and then Dr. Washington yesterday. read more

I did not have a good experience with this office. I have two toddlers and we loved visiting with Dr. Thompson she is very nice (and the RN)... BUT everything else is bad. The staff is very rude. The office also penny pinches for EVERY single thing in office. I'm coming from Kaiser where everything is included so maybe I don't understand how things work but my son needed to have mucus sucked out his nose and that cost $150? I could've just gone and bought a nosefrida. I should've been notified about the cost before picking the boogers out my kids nose because that was a hefty bill. Then they hounded me for the money as soon as I got the bill. I paid it and we did not last more than 6 months with the practice. read more

This place has good and bad days. I went to an appointment that should have been for vaccines, and after waiting 40 minutes, I went to the front desk and was told my appointment was moved back 30 minutes. There was no communication that the appointment was moved when I walked in at my correct appointment time or via email or voicemail. After this long wait, I was told the appointment was changed from a vaccine only to a wellness visit. Again, no communication from the doctor office. Apparently a wellness visit is required before 4 month vaccines. Again, this was not communicated. The doctors are nice, but the communication is atrocious and wait time is horrible. Save your time and go to a more established pediatrician. read more

I was told they are not accepting new patients after doing everything they requested! BEware this office does not honor their word. I absolutely love Dr. Thompson-Chittams. I cannot express that enough. She is caring, thoughtful, and thorough. I wish I could continue seeing her. Even my four month old adores her. She has always followed up with me and even came to visit me in the hospital when I had both my daughters. As noted in other reviews, the staff is horrendous. They are rude, incompetent, and just outright nasty. I have called about my daughter having a 105 fever and the receptionist simply just blew off my phone call. Today one of the receptionists hung up on me as I was speaking. I will not be going back to this practice but it is upsetting because I really appreciate the doctor. read more

Wonderful doctor, HORRIBLE STAFF! It's a crying shame. Smh... We changed insurance policies once we found out Dr. Thompson left Woodside Pediatrics. We left that practice to follow her. We unfortunately had to leave TLC Pediatrics due to being overbilled and having our daughter subjected to a procedure that was not needed. We were told to talk to the business manager and our complaints/concerns were not dealt with. Tried to talk to Dr. Thompson and she refused to get involved. It's sad, because we really wanted to support Dr. Thompson due to her wonderful bedside manners with her patients and their parents. Oh well. read more

Dr. Thompson and her team are nothing short of amazing! Where else can you visit the doctor and your entire staff loves on your child and has a loving kindred spirit?! And as for Dr. Thompson herself, she's such a warm person who's genuineness is unimaginable. She goes well beyond that which any Doctor has to from calling to check on your child after hours if there was a major issue to being available on the weekend when the office is technically closed, to take your call because somethings wrong with your baby and you don't know what to do. I am beyond satisfied with TLC Pediatrics and how they treat their patients, parents, and business. I LOVE this place!!! TLC is known for shorter wait times than most doctor offices and for being knowledgeable and personable when it comes to TLC clients and their history. They are always going the extra mile! We inherited Dr. Thompson-Chittams over 10 years ago during her tenure at a different practice after our original doctor retired. I was a little hesitant to schedule an appointment with the "new" doctor but I figured what's the worse that could happen... Well my kids and I all fell in love with Dr. Thompson-Chittams!!! I started with a pre-natal consultation in 2008 and have not regretted that decision since. The staff is always pleasant and professional, and Dr. Thompson-Chittams is the absolute best. When I had each of my children, she was the first physician I saw in the morning. Even though the hospital had a pediatrician on staff, she wanted to exam the children, as well as check in on me. This place is the worst! Please do yourself a favor and do not take your child here. When my daughter was born, I researched pediatricians in the area and selected TLC. They allowed my child's mother and I to attend appointments for the first 4 appointments and then only allowed one parent after that per COVID policies. The mother and I separated and unfortunately became involved in a custody dispute. During the dispute, I called to get copies of my daughter medical records. TLC kept stating that they sent me the records but did not. I had to call 4 times over the span of a month leading to a custody hearing. When I finally got the records, they revealed that My daughters mother called the office and had my information removed as a contact for our daughter and I was no longer being informed of appointments or updates concerning our daughter. TLC was aware of the custody dispute and was likely trying to hide this information from me. Her lawyer then argued that I hadn't been to an appointment in months after it was agreed that she would inform me of all information regarding our daughter's care (because only one parent could go per COVID policy). The mother never told me of any appointments and the office removed my contact information without my knowledge or consent. After a hearing where I was accused of being uninvolved in our daughter care because of not attending pediatric appointments, I called TLC to have my information reentered as a contact. TLC front office manager explained that I needed a court document saying that I could be contacted regarding my daughters care when I was the original contact that enrolled my daughter there and they didn't ask the mother for court documents to take me off or inform me of anything. I attempted to explain this and the manager began arguing with me and talking over me. I told her I'd be there with court documents today and she told me not to come and hung up on me.. Needless to say my child will be unenrolled from this unprofessional establishment and that's the ONE thing that her mother and I actually agree on. Her mother claims that their documentation of our daughters checkups is skewed and that they have made many mistakes regarding her medical history as well. I'd give this place 0 stars but 1 is the lowest. DO NOT enroll here! read more

We are first time parents and interviewed other pediatricians in the area along with Dr. Thompson-Chittams. She is fantastic! She takes her time to answer any questions we have, and we've never had a long wait to see her. When we called the after-hours number, Dr. Thompson-Chittams called back herself and within 10 minutes. What we like most is that the office does virtual visits and offers email support. You can even send an email from a mobile app and she is VERY responsive to inquiries. I would definitely recommend her to any parent looking for a caring and very knowledgeable pediatrician. read more

If I could leave this company negative stars, I would. Let me try to keep this short and succinct: 1. The front desk staff is incompetent, improperly scheduling my 4 month old for 6 month old's shots and scheduling his supposed 6 month wellcare appointment a few days after he would turn 7 months. (Good thing I caught each of these mishaps before my infant was adversely affected.) 2. The doctors and her admins are crooks; they continue to try to incorrectly bill me and my insurance to try to make more money for the practice. Specifically, the doctor falsely deemed my son too sick to receive his vaccinations because he had a slight cold that he picked up from his brother who is in daycare. Because the doctor did half of his check up on the first visit, then said he was too sick (which he was not), then told me to come back and finally gave him his shots the following week (when he was coughing the same as before), the office manager and the doctor decided that it was fitting to bill both visits as "sick visits." The issue in this comes in the fact that "wellcare visits" are typically covered 100% by individual insurance plans, versus sick visits which typically come with co-pays and prepayments. So, this fraud actually cost me more money than it was supposed to. I also just received 2 bills totaling about $70, charging me $0.76/page for vaccination records that they obligated me to send to them by fax. (I have never ever been charged to send health records to a provider, nor have I ever heard of this. Furthermore I offered to email them, since I live 35 minutes away from the facility.) 3. The doctor (Toni L. Thompson-Chittams) made me sit and wait in her office for about 30 minutes, on my first visit. I'd like to mention that my child was bare naked for all this time and it was not until I literally stood in the hallway, between check up rooms, that she noticed me and remember that she had us waiting to be seen. 4. The doctor ran a test on my son to determine if his cough was asthma, on what should have been a visit to receive his vaccinations, and though the tests came up negative she still prescribed him an inhaler. I could have lived with this precaution, however, she/her staff did not explain its proper use on an infant, nor did they notify the pharmacy (or me) that the medicine needed to be administered using a mask and air chamber. So for an entire week, my son was going untreated for what the doctor was trying to convince us was a viral infection in his lungs, all because she did not ability, professionalism or wherewithal to communicate to a parent, the proper application of medicine to an infant. 5. The "office manager," Lucrecia is very unprofessional and seemed bothered by the fact that I was questioning why 1 wellcare visit and another sick visit (which they coerced me into doing because they made me believe that my child had asthma), was being billed as 2 "sick visits." When I politely asked her to explain how that made sense, she twisted her face up at me, shot her eyes all over the place and talked to me in a condescending manner as if I was one of her sister-girls. It literally took every fiber in my being to keep from jumping over the counter and get "sister-girl" on her for real. In the end, it is very disappointing that TLC Pediatrics handles patients, parents and their business in this manner. There was one thing after another. I really wanted to love this place; it was recommended by a friend, it is black owned and I was simply looking forward to supporting another small business. However, after my laundry list above, they will not get another penny of my money. read more

We switched to TLC Pediatrics from another practice over 5 years ago. We couldn't be happier with our decision. Dr. Thompson has great bedside manner and really takes her time with us. There is usually little to no wait and I've never seen more than 1 other family in the waiting room with us (usually there aren't any!) The nurses are great, too. The office staff is also very competent. I never have problems making an appointment and I appreciate the email reminders. read more

Horrible experience. I had a meet and greet appointment and wasn't seen for 45 minutes after the appointment time. After waiting 30 minutes I spoke the rude receptionist who pretty much told me to get over the long wait time as the doc was seeing patients. When the doc saw me she met with me 4 minutes although it was suppose to be an hour appointment. She asked what was important to me when seeing a doc and I told her I didn't care for long wait times. Her response-get over it. An apology would have sufficed but none was offered. I understand that some patients require more care which may put you behind schedule but at least show good customer service and apologize for the wait. The doctor thought she was doing me a favor although I would be paying for services. This practice was unfriendly, unwelcoming, and rude. No way would I ever give them my business. read more

Dr. Thompson and her team are wonderful! There is almost no wait when we have appointments and she has always made same-day accommodations to see my son when needed. She is easy to access and has been wonderful when I've had sick-baby questions and concerns. If there has ever been a billing question, it is quickly resolved with a phone call to the office and/or insurance company. The practice staff are responsive and respectful and always address my needs with a simple request. TLC is prefect for persons who have realistic expectations of their health care provider such as: 1. your child will be treated for their illness (this may include testing and medication) 2. unforeseen things happen in life and medical practice and you may sometimes have to wait a few mins to be seen (this wait will always be met by an apology and comprehensive and friendly service) 3. You will be billed for the services rendered (billing problems should be worked out by YOU with your insurance provider) 4. You may need to ask questions as the providers and staff are not mind-readers (being receptive to the response is helpful also) Every practice doesn't work everyone but TLC makes healthcare for children easy. I absolutely love Dr. Thompson. I have been taking my kids to her for 5 years and she's had two of my kids since birth. I live a little over an hour away and I will continue to make that trip so my kids can continue to receive great care. Dr. Thompson has great bedside manner and really takes the time to make you feel like you're the only family that matters. She offers sound advice and treatments. The staff is friendly. I've never encountered any rude or curt behavior from any of the staff. I never have a long wait time either which is a bonus! read more

Let me first start of by saying when I first met Dr. Thompson-Chittams I was in a panic. I was pregnant with my first son and hadn't thought about a pediatrician yet. I went to see my OB and had to go immediately to the hospital. The question came up who was our pediatrician but I hadn't selected one yet. After leaving the hospital I was placed on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy. Once home I called every pediatrician that took our insurance. Dr. Thompson-Chittams was the first to return my call. I immediately perked up because all other offices just stated for me to call back after my son was born. She took the time to tell me about herself, her practice and how she practices what I like to call holistic medicine and that she would meet us at the hospital after he was born in 24hrs. Being in the medical profession myself we have biases when it comes to providers or practitioners caring for family and also ourselves. From the moment I met her through our conversations over the phone but also in person she has been professional, compassionate, caring and what I liked most is that she treated me like a mom and not another healthcare provider who has children. She always takes the time to listen to my concerns and gives the best recommendations and advice. I have always been able to reach her afterhours and she has at times when not on call followed-up because she remembered the condition my child was in while in the office. Her staff is always polite, professional and helpful. I have referred some many family members to her practice. I joke my whole family is being treated by her team of professionals. I trust her with my family of three boys and will continue to recommend her practice to anyone looking for a pediatrician. read more

I have been with TLC since both of my children were born. I knew Dr. Thompson-Chittams was for me and my children when she checked on my first child the day after he was born at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She and her staff have been nothing but awesome with me and my children. She and her staff are friendly, awesome personalities, and down to earth; willing to work with you whenever possible. I'm starting to well up a little, but on Tuesday July 26, 2016, my son was going into anaphylactic shock. I phoned a few times driving my child to the office, as we were closer than a hospital would be. Each time I dialed, not knowing, because of slight panic, I spoke with Ann, Joann, Cretia, and Mia. The awesome staff at TLC was on it, asking the right questions and calming me at the same time. When we got to the office, they took us back immediately, Ann was there calming my son, while Dr. Thompson-Chittams and others rallied together in help and support to get the proper things in order to be administered. I'm not only thankful to God, I'm thankful for the quick thinking of all at TLC Pediatrics for helping to save my sons life. I am totally thankful and grateful for them. read more

My child is 1 month old and I have been pleased with TLC so far. They address Dr. Thompson and nurse Kathleen have been wonderful to me and my child. All of the physicians seem to work with the parents to put their minds at ease and properly diagnose their child. Ms. Dia is awesome with quickly calling back after hours and that is a good practice quality. You may have to wait for a few minutes to be seen but it's no biggie. Dr. Thompson and her entire team are AWESOME!!! I'm not just saying that, to be saying it, I truly mean it because I have received exceptional service from TLC Pediatrics for years. I first learned of Dr. Thompson from my sister, who is a nurse. She always raved about how Dr. Thompson was "so good with her children." At that time, I was pregnant with my son, and I really wanted a doctor that was thorough and offered good bedside manner; which is often a lost art in today's medical world. Anyway, I met Dr. Thompson and when I delivered my son, she saw him in the hospital, and she has given him excellent care since. She is professional, and well versed in managing the health and well-being of children; and YES, she provides exceptional bedside manners. That experience was wonderful, but I can't praise Dr. Thompson enough for what she did for me during my next pregnancy. While I was pregnant, my unborn child was diagnosed with Esophageal Atresia with a Tracheoesophageal Fistula (EA/TEF), a rare birth defect where her esophagus did not connect to her stomach, but rather, connected to her lungs. I was terrified! Not only did I not know about this condition, but I didn't know if my child would survive. I reached out to Dr. Thompson, and she provided a level of support and concern that I could have never dreamed of. She took me by the hand and led me through one of the most difficult medical experiences of my life. She made sure that I understood my child's medical condition, and she prepared me for the multiple surgeries; many invasive and non-invasive procedures; doctor's appointments and medications my child would come to need on this unfamiliar medical journey to correct her anatomy. Dr. Thompson went above and beyond her duty. She worked with me every step of the way and gave my child the best medical care possible. She gave her professional knowledge and medical resources and she was very accessible to me; day or night and Sunday through Saturday. Every call for help was answered, and her level of service was impeccable! She made me feel like my children were her only patients, even though I knew they were not. When I call to schedule an appointment, I'm always greeted in a professional manner, and the staff does an great job of getting me in to see the doctor right away. When I have a question, I'm able to speak with the doctor, and even more impressive, Dr. Thompson often times called me to check on my child; especially after a specific illness or procedure. Office visits, and we've had lots of them, were superior. The staff was ready to receive us when we arrived, and the wait time is always short. The office is BEAUTIFUL and it is designed with children in mind. All of the routine things, like well visits, vaccinations, insurance coverage, etc. were handled well; thus making my life a little easier. The on-line medical portal is great, and it allows me to monitor my children's medical history. TLC Pediatrics is an excellent pediatric medical facility, and I simply LOVE Dr. Thompson and her VERY competent staff! read more

Love this practice, I was fortunate my OB referred me to Dr. Thompson. She is simply wonderful. My kids go there, they love it, bright, clean and kid friendly. The practice has grown into a bigger office and added another doctor. the office is never crowded and the staff friendly and professional. Both Dr. Thompson-Chittams and Dr. Hughes are wonderful. Both doctors and the rest of the TLC pediatrics staff are personable and great with children, from the receptionists to the staff who take height/weight measurements. My daughter actually looks forward to doctors visits. Dr. Thompson-Chittams has promptly returned my calls after hours and weekends and provided great advice. Dr. Hughes has consistently taken the time to follow up with me after appointments. The office is always clean and inviting and we never have to wait long to see a doctor. Dr. Thompson is amazing but her front desk staff is rude to the point where I decided to leave the practice. I just called and asked the turnaround time for transferring my children's records and I was told they have 365 days to do this. I have belonged to the practice for a long time so when my husband received new insurance, they told us we had to pay over $200 for my newborn to see the doctor. I told them, we know the new insurance has a co-pay, why can't we pay closer to the co-pay amount until you get the full insurance information. It was not like we were new clients or had an outstanding balance, we were attending the practice for over 8 years. Since they were unsure of the insurance we had to wait over an hour before we saw the doctor. The second time around, we were delayed to see the doctor because there was confusion with my child's name. With other experiences with appointments, usually you are allowed to see the doctor while the front staff figures out the insurance but here, you are not allowed to see the doctor at all until everything is cleared up. read more

I recently visit TLC pediatrics. The office staff is very competent. When entering the office, the staff is very approachable and they always greet you with a warm hello. The Office is always clean and inviting. They recently had a fall festival for the children. My husband and I was delighted to see many of our college associates at the event. Dr. Thompson and Dr. Hughes are so caring. My Daughter was recently hospitalized with pneumonia and both doctors call the hospital to make sure she was doing well. I know you can not please every one however This practice has been a great asset to my family. read more

Dr. Thompson is arrogant, rude and has by far the worst bed side manner I have ever seen by a medical professional. I was very eager to bring my 12 & 9yr old to TLC Pediatrics. Our initial appointment was with Dr. Necole Washington the practice newest pediatrician. Upon arrival the staff was very friendly, upbeat and professional. My children had their vitals taken and we were accosted our room. The Dr. arrived and immediately begins to grill my children in a very demeaning way. She didn't introduce herself with a friendly greeting, all questions and concerns that I had fell on deaf ears. She was entirely to concerned about all of the wrong things instead of performing the physical and trying to build a relationship with her little patients. I didn't find out until midway through the physical that we were in fact seeing Dr. Thompson instead of Dr. Washington. Dr. Thompson didn't disclose any information I had to ask questions pertaining to Dr. Washington before she finally said that she was Dr. Thompson. She made my entire family uncomfortable with her behavior and rude comments. My children were very saddened by her behavior towards them. I have chose to seek quality care elsewhere. She could really use a crash course on how to speak with her patients and their families. I spoke with the staff days later and informed them of my displeasure. You would think that they would ask questions to find out the core root of the issue, of course that didn't happen. What a waste of our time, what a waste of my medical benefits with Dr. Thompson. read more
