Do not use this moving company! We were supposed to move Thursday morning. They call us 12 hours before our move telling us they have no one available. They say they can move us to the next day, Friday. We say yes because we have no other options. Friday morning comes and Bellhop has moved our move AGAIN to a the next Wednesday without telling us. Husband calls and they just say they have no one available again. Do not use this company! Horrible company. read more

I requested an admittedly short notice job, and wouldn't have been at all irritated or surprised if I had been turned down. I was tentatively penciled in and told they'd be in touch to confirm. Then I received a confirmation from the lead on my job. All good- I was impressed with the tech-friendly method of booking. Except... Then I got a 9:30 pm (Saturday) call telling me they couldn't fulfill "both portions" of my job. They had a crew, but no truck, so did I have a truck? Dude, who pays for a moving company if they have their own moving truck? Bizarre. And since it was 9:30 pm, I was in a pretty disadvantageous situation for any chance at completing my Sunday 3 pm move. (2 hour job of just a few pieces). The next day, bellhops called me again to tell me I was still on the schedule for two men and no truck. That's a hard pass. Just disjointed and unprofessionally handled. Tech is great when it works. Otherwise, you're not improving or disrupting anything. The dude who actually completed my move from another company didn't have fancy tech, but he and his guy AND TRUCK showed up on time and did great work. That's worth more than an app or gimmick. Hopefully Bellhops will tighten their process for reserving trucks and crews together, which is pretty much the point of professional movers. ‍ read more

I'll break it down by each step: Scheduling: The scheduling process is easy. It is through the website you can see their availability. The day of my 2pm appointment: I get a phone call saying they would be late and to push it back to 3 pm. I get another phone call saying never mind, it's at 2 pm. And then I get a text saying 3 pm. I get it, it's a busy time in the triangle area to move, I honestly didn't mind that they would be late. However, they ended up showing up 1.5 hours late from the original time at 3:30 pm. The moving process; That part was fine, it look only 1 hour. The moving staff were friendly and respectful of our property. we didn't have trouble with damaged property. However BEWARE, there is a 2 hour minimum. So if you have something that you think will take less than two hours, you might get charged roughly 400 dollars. This was NOT clear on the website, as the price is advertised as "hourly". I complained to the company who then reduced my price down to only one hour which is what I actually got. TLDR; mediocre communication with customers on the day of the move. Great moving staff. They require a 2 hour minimum. read more

My husband and I moved across states and this was our first time using moving service. The team was excellent! They were on time and we worked well! The teams from both states were on time and moved fast! The drivers were also friendly. This was an excellent experience. Also, the service was very affordable! If I could give negative stars I would! We arranged 4 movers for 6 hours to move us. On the day of the move only 2 individuals showed up. While the guys that showed up worked hard, they were only able to move 1/3 of our belongings. The problems really started when I called and asked about getting the rest of my items moved. I was first insulted by being offered 20% the second move and no money back on the original move. After HOURS on the phone they agreed to refund a portion of the original move but couldn't "reschedule" and additional move until several days later, well after my husband and I would need to return to work. We are now on DAY 7 (post move) and I have yet to receive a single penny of my money from Bellhop that was promised. To make matters worse I had to pay ANOTHER moving company to finish the move. We are now out MULTIPLE days of work and almost $3,000 between the two moving companies! I have moved a lot in my life (20+ times) but this was by far the WORST MOVE OF MY LIFE! These guys are amazing!! Here's why: 1) Setting up the Appointment was easy and pleasant. Kevin was courteous, thorough in asking about the job, and thorough in explaining how the team would work and how the payment would work. Then I was sent a team intro with their photos. I like that. 2) Day Before: Team Lead Orlando called to talk about the job. He was very very courteous and thorough with his questions. I liked that he called to introduce himself and discuss the job so he knew what they would be doing. 3) The Team: (Orlando, Marcus, Vincent) I have never met a nicer group of young men! They all showed up with masks. They were pleasant and very helpful about deciding the best way to get stuff done. They worked steady and fast, but were very very careful of my furniture and walls. NEGATIVE 7.5 STARS! These people ditched me. Left me high and dry. Here's my story in bullet point form: - I reserved almost 2 months in advance. - The move was scheduled for 3pm. - One guy actually showed up a little early and even started to strategize on how to do it. Good start. - The driver called around 2:45 to say he was going to be a little late. - Right at 3pm it started drizzling. - At 3:15, the guy from the office called to get my opinion the weather, and then said that he just got a weather alert about lighting and they don't move in the rain. - By 3:30, the driver was called off, the guy who showed up took off, and the office called me to cancel for the day. - It rained for less than an hour, and only maybe 30 min of steady, moderate rain. It was completely over by 4pm. By then, the office told me they were going to rebook me. And I'm not even getting into why they don't move in the rain, even though it was about 6-7 footsteps from my door to the truck at most. And I wasn't worried about items picking up a few drops of rain. - This so-called "professional" moving company with a supposedly large network called me back around 5pm said they tried but couldn't find anyone else to help me that day but they could get a team to me by 11 am the next day. I said I would take that if that was all, but would rather do earlier in the morning if they could. They said they would try, and call back with the results. - No one had called me by 6:30, and then I got an automated email saying my request couldn't be fulfilled. Obviously, I'm infuriated at that point. -So I called them. I got someone on the phone who (as "luck" would have it) couldn't hear me or whatever. It probably someone else whose shift was about to end and wanted to get off the phone -- I used to work at a call center so I know these games -- and hung up on me. - Then I called back, sat on hold for 20 more minutes, and the phone was disconnected because the call center closed for the night at 8pm. - Finally, I got an email saying my reservation had been cancelled. ENTIRELY FRICKIN CANCELLED!! They refunded my money and completely washed their hands of me. - I sent one more email to them telling them how much they sucked (a day or two later some regional head guy sent me an email apologizing), and then when I finished panicking, I remembered that you can book a truck and helpers via UHaul even at 11 pm, a time at which none of these moving companies are even reachable, so I set that all up for the next day and managed to pull off the move slightly later than I wanted, but just barely in time. So anyway, save yourself the trouble and just do that instead. Whatever the case, Bellhop was the absolute worst experience I've ever had. I mean, unless you want to take a chance that they overbooked or that it will rain for half an hour on your move day or that their half-ass subcontractors will decide there's an episode of Days of Our Lives that they need to watch instead of doing your move. Feel free to roll those dice if you want to. read more

This was a very good experience from start to finish. Zach, Darius, Johnathon, and John were our team and Brandy was our driver and all were great. They were all there at the promised start of the job, worked energetically and professionally the entire time and finished in less time than was quoted. They were polite and respectful and treated our belongings carefully. Nothing was scratched or broken which was impressive when you consider the entryway was narrow and most items were delivered to upstairs rooms. We would use Bellhops again in a heartbeat if we need moving service again. DO NOT EVER use Bellhops Moving !!!!!' They showed up started loading our move. Then, they said the Move was going to take them too long and it was an unsafe environment! Then they unloaded our stuff and left!!!!!! Terms of service??? Does that include guys who just decide it's too much work? You only took your guys verbal opinion that it didn't fit the "terms." After suggesting your guys take a photo of the job site for someone to see the conditions off site, no one ever did. The guys on site totally lied about the conditions bc the job was going to take too long. That came out of one of guys' mouth. Keep in mind when I booked I was very clear on the amount of furnishings we had. My husband has a bad back and we have 4 children. We've moved 4 times in 7 years and NEVER had an issue before. I couldn't have said it better than my wife, about 13 hours into our moving ordeal: "I can't believe we paid all this money and we're still moving this %$!&* ourselves." Our experience with Bellhops started out great. We needed movers on short notice, and every local company I spoke with was booked solid. Bellhops was happy to accommodate us. The Yelp reviews were sterling. On moving day, my Bellhops showed up promptly. They were polite and eager to help, as promised. They did what I asked, and they were...let's say *kinda* careful with my possessions. Not extremely careful, but most of my stuff made it intact. I do not have a house full of heirlooms. If you do, you should think long and hard about this decision. The real problems started around hour 3 of loading. One of my two bellhops told me he was booked for another job later that afternoon, so we had about 2 1/2 hours left to finish loading the truck, get to the other house (a 20-minute drive) and unload. I thought I was scheduling Bellhops *for the duration of my move.* The company estimated the amount of hours the move would take, but really just to quote me a potential price. At no point did anyone tell me "by the way, you might lose one or both of your movers at the height of your move." I would probably have preferred to know that! So, 12 p.m., the truck was 75% full, and I was on the verge of losing half my crew. We finished up with the truck as quickly as possible and got on the road. And then: My truck broke down. I had to wait for roadside assistance. The clock was ticking on this moving crew (and the truck itself, which was due back at 6). I called my Bellhops, who were en route to the new place. No problem, they told me. They'd clock out then and there, and the company would get in touch to arrange some replacements a little later in the day. During the 90 minutes the truck was disabled I had several chipper phone calls with Bellhops HQ. I was told that they are getting in touch with replacement bellhops in my area to see who was available, and when they could get to me. I was promised a call back in 30 minutes. One hour later, I had not heard from them. In fact, I never heard the voice of the guy who promised to call me again. I hope he's okay. Let's just fast forward through the rest of the play-by-play, because it gets a little repetitive. Suffice it to say throughout the afternoon I called Bellhops no less than three times and was assured by three separate people that they could have one, and possibly two replacement bellhops to me by 7:30. Which is a good thing, because I eventually arrived at my house with a 26-foot monster full of incredibly heavy stuff. Around 6:30, we still haden't gotten confirmation that anyone was coming, or when. So I called (again). The news was not great. They could not find a second bellhop. Also, that first bellhop, the one who could definitely come at 7:30? He couldn't come either. At this point it had been 12 hours since we got out of bed and immediately started work on our big moving day. The truck broke down, our movers were reallocated, and with very little time to spare, we were staring at I-don't-even-know how many tons of stuff that had to come out of the truck so we could go to sleep. The best part: Because Bellhops *repeatedly* assured us that help was on the way, we didn't call our friends or family all day. Just by sheer luck, we were able to find a few people willing to drop everything and come bail us out. Just before 10 p.m. we finally pulled the last item out of the truck. Bellhops was a distant, unhappy memory at that point. So here's what I take from all this: Of course, not everything that happened on moving day was Bellhops' fault. The truck being temporarily disabled is just a Thing That Sucks and it's not on them. But moving is complicated, and I was completely baffled that they seemed completely unprepared to address something like this. What does this mean for you? As long as absolutely everything on moving day goes according to plan, you will probably be fine. But can you count on that? Think about all the variables that go into a move, and consider that, should the slightest hiccup occur, this company has absolutely no contingency plan. They cannot help you. At the end of this ordeal, I had to sign off on the hours my bellhops worked and give an evaluation of the experience. I rated it poorly. Their website's evaluation-bot assured me they would "be in touch to make it right." It may shock you to learn that, four days later, they have not been in touch. So not only will they double book your movers without telling you, they will repeatedly not call you back when they're trying to fix the mess this inevitably causes, and once they have your money, they're pretty much done with you. If you have to move, you should hire a moving company. This is not a moving company. Do not hire Bellhops. read more

Only one of the two guys showed up initially. The second guy showed up over and hour and a half after the promised start time. While waiting for the other guy, the one that was there wandered around moving one box at a time even though I provided dollies for their use. He also didn't put items where I asked, put boxes labeled clearly as heavy on top of light ones. He scattered items all over the house making me and my family move the boxes to better locations for spacing issues and to accommodate the boxes/items he was slowly bringing in. I called customer service and got only a 5% discount and was told I wouldn't be charged for the other guy until he showed up. The customer service to set up the move was excellent, but the movers themselves were inexperienced. First, they got lost and were an hour late. Then, they could not set up the bed properly. After several attempts, it seemed ok. However, sleeping on it felt wrong and we had to take the bed apart and reassemble. The frame wasn't screwed in tight and the frame was crooked. read more

Hired for a move across town. Two nice, but remarkably inexperienced, college students showed up with no tools to break down bed despite being assured they would have them. They then moved in slow motion. The move across town is 20 minutes; however, they showed up an hour later. The bellhop-hired truck then drove over landscaping, damaging plantings and lighting. Bellhops dinged the credit card at a rate higher than quoted and, so far, refuse to lower. I'm working through dispute now. Strongly recommend you hire someone else who is experienced if moving. read more

We learned the hard way that this "service" is not worth the price (which ain't cheap) you pay. Although the online scheduling process was easy and they provided a lot of information prior to people showing up at your house, the quality of the "work" done is so poor we wouldn't use them again or recommend to anyone else. We had 2 "movers" who were hired to load all the items from our house in to moving pods. They were booked for four hours, and took every bit of those four hours that we were billed for - although not to do the work we hired them to do. They moved very slowly, did not load as we had requested they do, frequently stopped work to use their phones, spent time in conversation with each other (and not about the job), and often walked out of the house carrying nothing or just one box (instead of using the dolly we paid for and provided, as they recommend). They loaded the pods very poorly - we had to go back and reload additional items because they had made so poor use of the space. They also loaded things in such a way that when we unloaded at the other end, we found A LOT of damage from their efforts. Boxes labeled "fragile" put on the bottom of a stack of book boxes, heavy items put on book shelves which cracked, dirty furniture where the plastic coverings had been torn away in the loading process. We were also advised to provide moving blankets at our expense, which they did not use at all, despite our requests to do so. Would never hire them again or recommend anyone else use. read more

This is my second time using bellhops and they were awesome. One of the movers had a family emergency that morning and they were able to find another guy in a couple of hours and still make it on time for my move. They were super quick and it wasn't very expensive thanks to the yelp deal for $30 off an hour. The only reason I am docking one star is because they did scratch up my two solid wood dressers (like a lot). Part of it is my fault for not having gotten moving blankets but I still would have hoped that they took some care in what they put on or around them. Still not complaining too much and unfortunately I didn't notice until after they had left. Would still use again just make sure to supply things like that! read more

We needed help with a move out of a 1 bedroom Chapel Hill apartment; we had arranged for a truck but needed to get the furniture down from the third floor and into the truck. I thought that finding just labor without use of full service movers was going to be hard, but I read about Bellhops and found nothing but good stories and reviews. Everything from getting questions answered by phone to placing the order to getting follow up communications as we got closer to moving day went perfectly; on the day of the move Jake and Rico showed up on time and ready to work. They were both UNC students and most personable, willing to follow direction. Despite temperatures around 90, they worked diligently for 3 hours without a break and carried all the heavy loads with no problem. Based on their prior experience doing moves, they stacked all the furniture in the truck in an organized fashion and secured it so that we had no problems during the drive. No breakage and no damage to the walls or halls of the apartment occurred. Based on the difficulty in finding labor on the other end to unload, where Bellhops did not have any office, it is a no-brainer to use this company whenever it is available. Plus the cost was most reasonable. As reliability in showing up and doing a good job is the key to a good move, Bellhops did all that was promised, can't ask for more than that. read more
