I'm not sure I've had a better overall experience with hired workers/contractors. Joy was very sweet and easy to work with. They sent three guys and we were concerned because we thought we needed at least 4 people. We had moved 6 months earlier and it took 8 guys two days to complete the move (with the same amount to be moved). I can only say (and I mean this), I've never seen people work so hard for so long. Donald (Duck), Buck and John were the hardest working, most efficient and most accommodating people I've ever seen. To top it off, they had fun the whole time - laughing, singing, messing with each other, etc. I seriously wanted to hang out with those guys. I was floored and still am about their work ethic. I am never moving again without the help of movers. I do not want to move again anytime soon, but if I do I plan on using Joyful movers. I found Joyful movers via Yelp. I called Joy and she old me their rates and availability. I hired them. 3 guys pulled up in a U-Haul truck equipped with dollies, basic tools and positive attitudes. I had Greg as the team leader. They got out, introduced themselves and after a quick, friendly talk and signing a waiver or two they sprang into action. I think they did more in 2 hours than I did all week. They broke down furniture, hauled it out to the truck, loaded it safely, transported it to the new house, unloaded it, slapped it back together and then they were gone. They are on point! Donald and DJ showed up right at 8 AM. Move me in two hours. 30 minute travel time in between. Took two hours to move into a new place. I was able to schedule only a few days in advance for the day I wanted to move. Joy will try to accommodate you. Terry and Greg were at my house a few minutes early and ready to go. They were personable, careful, got right down to business, and got the Uhaul loaded much more quickly than I expected. At the new location, they just needed a walk through the house to understand which room was which, and they got right to work bringing in the furniture and boxes. They even helped me move an area rug and get a rug pad underneath it before they placed the bed on top. Great attitude all the way through! Joyful Movers were absolutely wonderful! Recently, I organized and helped my neighbor in her relocation and she selected Joyful Movers. The day of the move brothers, William and John, showed up to move her. These two guys were friendly, respectful and so organized, even I, a seasoned mover, was duly impressed. I watched as they systematically took out boxes and furniture with thought, being careful with every piece. Watching as they loaded items into the truck was the real story--every item had its space, well-placed and well-padded; they respected my friend's belongings. What's more, they appreciated the direction I provided to them for a smoother move. It was a 45 minute drive to the new location and they followed me perfectly. When we arrived at the new location, they immediately started to unload. I had already briefed them that each box was labeled by room and I'd like them placed in the appropriate room. These guys were great. We had what I imagine is the kind of move companies don't look forward to. A third floor apartment to a third floor apartment. Egh. But! They were amazingly quick, affordable, and pleasant to work with. I think they did the move in a little under four hours which was incredible given the summer heat. My experience with Joyful Movers was disappointing and frustrating. Having recently hired movers to move me from California to NC I knew how long it should take to move me. The size and logistics for where I lived in California and where I was moving to in NC were the same. The movers took a much longer time than was necessary for many reasons. The most upsetting to me was that they were on their cell phones the majority of the last two hours of my move. I watched as they moved my stuff with one hand on their cell phone and one hand on the dolly or box. They didn't seem to care that I was standing there watching them slowly attempt to move things with one hand. They even accepted me assisting them as they continued to talk. My move took at least an hour and a half longer than it should have. I'm attempted several times to call Joy to provide feedback but my calls and text messages were never returned. read more

My friend had referred me to this company for moving services but I called I got the opposite experience that she and her husband had. The woman that answered the phone 1. didn't give her name 2. very lackadaisical in her answering my questions 3. allowed awkward silence in which I had to probe her for dates and availability for movers. 4. not forthcoming with availability 5. projected an attitude of I don't really give a crap.
