Stopped by the post office today in RTP to mail a package on the first day of the deadline week to mail xmas packages. It was completely mobbed so looked up the nearest packaging store and landed here. This place is jam packed with all kinds of things for sale, a wall of PO boxes, and behind the counter were mounds of packages to be picked up by UPS and the USPS. The lady who greeted me was super friendly and took care of me right away. What a relief compared to my visit to the post office! I don't know if there's an upcharge to send through this place, but I imagine so. Nonetheless, it was worth it not to have to stand in a huge line at the RTP PO! My package is on it's way to my friend with plenty of time to spare. read more

I travel to many places in my day to day routine, and am still amazed of how grand this little corner business operates... Always September (owner) greets you with a smile, along with the others. and all the employees have gone way beyond in helping me as soon as possible, but was so surprised (still am) when I'm asked by the guys (or girls), if I need help putting boxes in my car... You just don't see or hear much of that anymore. Just the fact that they care enough to ask! This happens even if they are busy... very genuine people who remember how to treat people. That is worth every minute of my time, and every dime I pay in this store. Always friendly, and professional... even when their tired themselves. Disappointed to see that in this store, none of the staff are wearing masks in spite of the City of Durham's mask mandate which is still effective today (January 17, 2022). This staff is always amazingly friendly and professional! I've never had an issue. They give great advice for mailing and tell you up front if a rate is worth it. I am no longer going to support businesses who are making zero effort to combat the pandemic. So I left after observing the employees. Wearing a mask on your chin, not wearing one, not even pretending you care when your customer obviously does, ignoring recommendations and mandates in this crisis is inexcusable at this point. Realized as I left that I didn't even see signage with cdc recommendations. I left without sending my package. Generally good, but they will charge you an unexpectedly big markup on some services. Charged $8.55 for a small, first-class package sent to Raleigh which the USPS stated rate is $4.50. IMO a 90% markup is excessive. Next time, I'll just buy the postage from them & mail it myself! read more

I did not want to buy more printer ink that would dry out AGAIN before I needed to print something else. I called these guys and they said I could just email them (call yourself to make sure you get the right email address) and they would print the two sheets I needed - one for a return shipping label and one for a document I had to sign in ink. They were waiting for me when I got there and the best part was I was able to of course ship the item I needed the label for right then and there as well as sign and get my other document scanned right into my email! I could have faxed it if I wanted to as well. The cherry on top was it was only a couple of bucks - I should have brought cash. Too expensive. This store is close to double to mail a letter priority express than the US post office. The post office charges $28 and this ups store charges $49 for the same letter. I did not get a stamped receipt with a tracking number from this store. I just got a cash receipt. It's a rip off that takes advantage of customers. I have no confidence that my outgoing mail will reach is destination. read more

I rely on Packaging Express to professionally package and ship my larger and more expensive products for my Etsy woodworking business. Yes--Packaging Express is more expensive than shipping directly through the carrier and packaging it on your own if you neglect to factor in your time, the cost of your own packaging materials, and the stress of hoping that you did a good enough job that the item will arrive undamaged. This is a business offering a great service, not a charity. When I have smaller items that need to be shipped, I package them and print the labels myself and Packaging Express is happy to take them to be picked up by the carrier. I also recently noticed that they offer notary services. They also sell all kinds of packaging materials to do the job on your own. They offer printing services as well. My customers are extremely impressed when they receive packages that were prepared by Packaging Express (see photo). I simply drop off the item and they professionally package and ship it in the most economical way possible. I've never had an item arrive with even the slightest bit of damage. The best part of working with this company is that the employees (seems like a family-run business) are always so friendly and happy to help. I don't dread making this trip like I do if I have to go to the government run shipping offices... If you want an item to survive the rough delivery journey, you need to leave it to the professionals at Packaging Express. read more

I have used this company for years and always found them to be top-notch. Today (12/21), I went in to get two packages sent and was surprised that NONE of the employees, including the owner, wore a mask. I got out of there as quickly as possible and subsequently called the owner. I respectfully reminded her of the city MANDATE to wear masks indoors. Her response: "It's an individual choice. I'm not going to make anyone wear a mask." So, she clearly values (a dangerous) choice over a city mandate AND the safety of her employees and customers. We have all our packages from businesses (e.g. Amazon, Walmart, Nordstrom, et al) sent via FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc., to Packaging Express at Woodcroft instead of to our house. This increases safety and security because all packages are delivered inside the store AND signed for by an employee - instead of being dropped off at our front door or on the driveway at the street - as happens in deliveries to our home address. read more

When there isn't a line, this place is absolutely a godsend. Located in the corner of the Woodcroft shopping center---over in the corner near the HV Bottle Shop and Bandido's, etc., or look for its "We sell on eBay" sign, visible from the NC-54 back-entrance of Woodcroft---it's bigger and has more supplies and staff than, for example, Packaging Depot over in Homestead Market. But they don't have dogs here like Packaging Depot does. Although it's my understanding that some people prefer a dog-less shopping / shipping environment, but y'all are missing out. Dogs are the best! When there is a line, that line goes as slow as anywhere. (Say, if someone finds a *fast* shipping joint, drop me a line, will you?) I was there the Monday before Christmas and there were two lines, both three-deep with, of course, compulsive shoppers shipping gifts to their sixteen cousins and what-all, and at the front of the line, would you believe it, was this really older gentleman telling his life story. I mean, I got to hear about the war and his siblings and wife and children and grandchildren (he has ten of them puppies!). If I'd been in an actual hurry, this whole situation would've been a pain in my butthole, but I wasn't, really, so I just had to talk myself out of being impatient and into being amused. The girl at the counter seemed to hang on this hot pepaw's every word. I was impressed by how interested she seemed, despite the long line in the store. Poor guy was probably lonely, and he was clearly enjoying telling his story, so it was sweet and all Christmas spirit-y that he had a whole roomful of folks to tell it to. When it was our turn---didn't really take all that long---they were out of FedEx padded paks (which are free, of course), so we had to buy a bubble mailer for .85 and put it inside of a FedEx envelope. Kinda lame, IMO! But the girl at the counter was helpful---if humorless, although I can only imagine she'd be super-stressed this time o' year---and we got done what we needed to get done. But, still, I prefer this place to USPS or UPS any day. And I am devoted to FedEx, but getting in and out of their Ninth Street location is a nightmare. I love the convenience of ample parking and being able to not only ship a package, but also hit up the bottle shop, the hardware store, and have dinner while I'm at it, at any of the neighboring shops. They've got a good selection of cute gift-y bubble mailers and tape and labels and scissors and boxes and whatnot. They also make keys, although so does True Value a few doors down but, if you've got a package to mail anyway, why not kill two birds? They also sell on eBay, according to that sign I mentioned, and you can rent a P.O. box on-site. Pretty cool! read more

Used this place on a few occasions and have decided I'd rather drive a few miles further to use any other packing company. The employees always make me feel like I'm an annoyance by being there and there is often a wait. Today I called asking if I can ship a particular type of package...they say yes. I stop by and guess what? Turns out they can't after all! Instead of just being apologetic I get a lecture about various types of addresses and packaging systems. Guess what? Most folks who don't routinely ship packages probably aren't aware of the 10203930 different rules to ship simple materials. This place rips you off price wise.. my daughter shipped me a package from there. cost should have been $32.00 they charged her over 95.00.. what? 63.00 to print a label??? Note to the public.. Every so often my wife or I would go to Packaging Express, and I would always walk away thinking that they add an astronomical markup to USPS or other shippers. This time I checked around online first, and to ship my package UPS ground would be $37.66, and USPS ground would be $24.19 if I went to one of their locations. PackEx is much closer than the post office, so I went there, willing to spend a few extra dollars on their markup for the convenience. Without even asking me the contents, the clerk told me "cheapest is FedEx for $53." I confirmed the 20x12x11 measurements and 5lb 9oz weight. But she insisted, stating "the 'dimensional weight' is 19 lbs." I asked her to check USPS ground, which has no dimensional weight, and she told me USPS would be $82. I walked out, went to the post office, and they shipped it for $24.19. PackEx... never again. read more

I recently shipped a large oil painting to Texas. It was not valuable monetarily but was sentimentally important to our family. September oversaw the packing job, which was extremely professional, and, I thought, an excellent value. She wrapped it in paper and cardboard, and built a crate to hold it. Between the painting and the crate sides were two thick pieces of styrofoam. It was all neatly cut and fitted, and the crate was assembled with screws. It arrived in perfect condition. read more

I'm constantly buying and selling various car parts and other things related to my hobbies. I hate the grind of trying to locate the right box and packing materials to accomplish these tasks. I finally got tired of it and started taking my stuff here. They do a great job of making sure the important things get the right care. We also had them do our passport photos in the past. I've also had them do some unconventional transport for bulky items. Unless you are shipping usps priority mail, I recommend coming here. They give you all the options and will help you figure out the cheapest/quickest based on your goals. read more

Well it's a convenient store that marks up shipping rates. Good option if you're not up for waiting at USPS or finding a FedEx or UPS location, and paying a price for a close location. For a 1 lb package it cost me $14, so I'd much rather wait in line at the post office. read more
