All My Sons Moving & Storage

Very professional and considerate of our belongings. They arrived on time and worked quickly. Would…read moreuse again.

We moved the first week of August from outside Raleigh to Southern North Carolina (about a three…read morehour drive). All My Sons was recommended, and got decent reviews so I added them to my list of potential movers. In terms of price, they came right in the middle, not the most expensive, and far from the cheapest (but then I figured you get what you pay for). I worked with Olivia to get an estimate, and that process was great. Olivia was easy to work with and clearly very knowledgeable in terms of moving. She answered questions, gave me her contact information if I had any further questions, and we locked in a fixed price. Scheduling was easy, and everything was good to go. So far, definitely a five star company. On moving day, the movers showed up on time with 7-8 people and started loading the house. The guys worked hard on what was a really hot day, and even the day laborers they picked up were great guys and very conscientious and careful. Everyone seemed very careful and treated our stuff like their own - except for one of the guys. We watched him leave the bottom of a bed frame in the middle of the living room floor which he then tripped over, knocked over and broke a lamp (though he didn't mention it, and we didn't discover it until later). That's ok, accidents happen. However, we also watched him drop a stack of several bin and just throw everything back in the top bin without checking to see if anything was broken, throw boxes around etc. I may have docked them half a star for him, but the rest of the guys were great (so we thought), so probably would have let it slide. They packed up the house and two off site storage units in about five hours. They drove down early the next morning and met us, on time - actually a little earlier than planned to unload the house. The same crew (for the most part) who loaded up also unloaded. Again, it was a ridiculously hot day, and they worked hard. We were really impressed. They finished unloading in 3-4 hours and left. At that point they probably had a 4 1/2, or more likely five star, review in my mind, but that is where the trouble started. Late that night, on move in day, we went to make the bed in the primary bedroom. As I was putting on the fitted sheet, the bed seemed a little more wobbly than it should have. Upon further examination, when they had rebuilt the bed, they had only screw in the bolts enough to get the headboard and floor board to stand up. Further, the feet bracing the frame on the bottom of the bed had not been unscrewed and so weren't even touching the floor. We spend an hour or so totally disassembling the bed and putting it back together right so it could be used. Had we just slept in the bed that night, I have no doubt that it would have fallen apart. Again, we gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they had "half assembled" it with every intention of finishing it but forgot. Maybe it was a communication issue where one person started it and thought someone else was going to finish it. The next day, we went to assembly a kitchen table that had been left disassembled. It turns out that one of the eight bolts that holds it together was lost in the move, and inexplicably, all of the washers. Given the issue with the bed and the table, we started to double check other furniture. In my office, i have a standing desk that had to be disassembled in two pieces to move. In putting it back together, they clearly lost more parts, used parts that didn't go to the desk, didn't tighten the connections, left numerous screws and bolts out and stripped a bunch of others. That on top of simply putting it back together wrong. Like the bed, I think it I had put the weight of the desktop and monitors on that desk without checking, there is a decent chance it would have collapsed. We also found that they had not assemble another bed in one of the guest room, instead leaving the headboard simply laying against the wall instead of attached to the frame. Over the next couple of days, as we continued to unpack, we noticed numerous scratches and dents from moving that were not pointed out to us. The final straw came when I was sent an email to review the experience shortly after moving. I took the time to write out a review similar to this one. When I clicked on the email link to post it, they asked that if it was negative that we reach out to them first to give them a chance to make it right. It seemed like the right thing to do, so I selected that option. I NEVER heard back from them. All in all, it was not a good experience, and I would not recommend using this company to move.
