Why I waited so long to try this place I will never know. Wow just wow! Quite tucked away but it was fairly busy when I came in early on a Sunday. They have a ton of packaged options you can choose from and honestly everything looks and sounds good so I had a hard time deciding. They also have to baked goods that require a fridge so they are behind the counter but the ladies working were so friendly and fast! I was in and out in less than 10 even though the store was fairly busy. I got the ham and onion roll, strawberry danish and match cream puff. All 3 were 10 out of 10 but my favorite was the danish. I warmed it slightly when I got home and it made the flaky crust so warm and the custard slightly melty. Amazing. The ham and onion roll was like a 10x better version of a ham & cheese croissant. I really enjoyed the caramelized onion flavor with the thick ham. The match cream puff was LOADED with cream. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting. Wow! If you don't live in Upper Arlignton, it's worth a trip up here to come visit! They've got crepes, desserts, and other baked goods. There's a small eating area, but for the most part, people just do a grab and go. I came with my family and friends on a Sunday at 1 and it was busy! Lots of people coming in and out. Many of them we had seen eating earlier at Tensuke Express. The prices are pretty cheap! I tried a matcha pastry which was delicious! And some kind of bread with boiled egg and curry potatoes in it. Great Asian bakery if you're looking for some yummy bread options! It was packed even early in the morning on a weekend but so much fresh bread options were available. The melon bread is a current fav (no melons were sacrificed for this, it's just named after the amazing crust) but also the curry donut deserves a mention. How do I even begin? I've been away from Japanese bread for a very long time and this is such an unexpected surprise that I ran into this place. We were actually having dinner in the same plaza and my husband saw a bunch of folks outside eating soft serve so he asked me if I wanted some. We went in and I almost had a heart attack! I saw what I've been missing in USA. I grabbed the tray immediately and went nuts on all their breads and pastry. We love their raisin bread, matcha and marble bread. If you just wanna try them before buying a bulk, they have each of those items ( 99c/2 slices). It's such an awesome deal, right? We also got UFO both small and big one. This is a very Japanese bakery in Columbus and I have been going there for years. I am more fond of Asian bakeries as I have noticed that they tend to have just the right amount of flavoring and sweetness in their baked goods and never comes off as overpowering or too sweet. They have tons of different items to choose from such as cakes, croissants, etc. some baked goods are available for you to grab it and they have some items in their coolers such as cakes and tarts. They also have some savory baked goods as well. Only suggestion I have is that they have some vegetarian savory ones as well. Because I tend to only find ones that contain tuna. They tend to get pretty busy especially on the weekends. But the line tends to move pretty fast. Definitely check them out if you have yet to! read more

Literally came and spent like $40 on baked goods. Maybe I just wholely miss having asian baked goods and went crazy but the breads I tried were quite good. Really enjoyed the cream filled breads, tried the matcha cream horn and the coffee cream bun. Good desserty type breads without being overly sweet. Also had a pretty good matcha red bean bun, slight bitterness came through with the matcha bread but offset by the sweetness of the red bean. Almond croissant was a pleasant surprise, since they shut down Laughlin's this was a good substitute, size and price wise. Still think that pistchia vera probably does a better job at the almond croissant though. Tried some plainer breads: brioche and baguette. Brioche is buttery and alright, a little dry for my tastes but slather some fresh cream butter and you're good to go. Baguette is properly crusty and soft in the middle. UFO bread and chocolate chip melon was also good. Both are cookie-ish covered breads. UFO wasn't overly sweet but the chocolate chip melon would be a good dessert, for me anyways. Curry donut and ham and onion breads were also good on the savory end. If you like curry, you'll probably like the curry donut. The panko crust adds a nice, fun crunch. Ham and onion is well a ham and onion bun, its good if you like ham and onion. Drink wise I got the spicy chai and thought it was excellent. Good amount of spice and flavor without being overly sweet. Will definitely be coming back to try actual cakes and desserts soon. Ambiance was a great, quiet enough place to study and get some work done. Not sure if that's the intention of the area but I felt like having spent as much money on bread as I did, it was ok to spend a few hours here. I've been to this Japanese bakery twice in two weeks. My daughters are regulars but I'm a newbie. It was crowded the first time I went. We got a handheld basket and stared filling it up. By the time we were ready the line was shorter and moving faster. Everything was SO DELICIOUS! We bought about 8 of their hand held goodies - ham and onion rolls, chocolate buns, red bean pastry, blueberry cream pastry, moon dome ( our least favorite) the chocolate top was tasty but the cake had no flavor. We also got a chocolate eclair ( favorite) the filling was yum and thick custard, chocolate icing was perfect and the pastry had fabulous flavor. On my next trip there it was a weekday morning and not very crowded I got the ham and onion buns, a bacon and onion bun, chocolate bun, pastry horn filled with chocolate and 2 chocolate cream puffs and a slice of thin layers chocolates cake. The treats were all delicious. They also have whole cakes and some bread. People sit outside to eat their goodies. Lots of parking available and many other Japanese stores. read more

I tried the matcha soft serve and it was really good, also took home a loaf of thick cut white bread home and made the most amazing French toast with it! Definitely recommend trying it out if you're in the area, you can spend almost the whole day just perusing through the Japanese stores around the area. Such a fun little Japanese bakery! My husband is like a kid in a candy shop in these places. He spent some time living in Japan as a child so everything was full of nostalgia and stories about eating certain rolls for various occasions. Belle's Bread is running under carryout right now, with a limit of 22 guests inside the bakery at a time. The cute dining room is closed up for the time being, but you can still grab a basket or tray from the indicated clean rack and pick out some of the delicious breads, pastries, and cookies in the center area. You turn in the tray or basket at check-out, where they take it to be cleaned before returning it to circulation. There are spaced out X's marked on the floor in front of the glass case, where you can peruse the gorgeous tarts, cake slices, mousses, and more before heading to the cashier to check out. Everything appeared very clean and organized, and the staff was masked, friendly, and efficient. There was a sign indicating that crepes are currently unavailable. On our most recent visit, we selected a fruit tart and mango mousse slice from the glass case, plus a choco cornet, Nutella Kitty (so cute!), butter cream bread, and lemon madeleines (madeleines come in sets of 4). Everything was very good! Plentiful parking is available in the shopping center lot, and the store is located in a beautiful little courtyard type area with a lot of benches. read more

A buddy at work clued me in to this place, though I think I'd seen it before and not known what it was. He grew up in Japan and says it is like the cafes they have there. Hamburgers with tonkatsu sauce, spaghetti with cod roe, and other interesting takes on American standards for lunch; bread and pastries that seem to combine France and Japan for snacks. All of it simply amazing. I chose the beef stew for lunch. It is a slightly sweet version with onions and mushrooms, served with rice and a hard boiled egg. Very fresh and tasty side salad with it. I got a sweet tea to drink; think sweetened Japanese tea, not southern sweet tea; still good. I picked an ogura roll to add for dessert; it was super soft and sweet bread around red bean paste and whipped cream. Incredible. The whole meal was filling and outstandingly enjoyable, and artfully presented, for about $12. (I wrote another review recently about spending $12 for lunch and feeling hungry and unsatisfied afterward. This was the antidote.) read more

I am a long time Columbus resident, and LOVE Belle's Bread. Everything that has been said here is true-- the cakes, breads, and rolls are excellent. However, I've had two lukewarm experiences with ordering cakes from Belle's. In March, I ordered a strawberry cake for Chinese New Year. The cake tasted wonderful, but the presentation was disappointing. There was a dent in the frosting where the cake had been shoved to the side of the box and the inscription on the cake was a messy scrawl. I thought maybe this was a one-time incident, but I ordered a mango mousse cake a few days later, I was disappointed again. When I took the cake out of the box, it didn't look like the cakes on display. The gelatin glaze was lopsided on the top of the cake and the sugared fruit was haphazardly scattered on the top. Both the mango mousse cake and strawberry cake tasted delicious, but the presentation was disappointing. I love Belle's bread for their unique breads and matcha soft serve! You can get Japanese bakery items here for a pretty good price, ~$2.00-$6.00 per item, they also have cake slices ~4.00, coffee, tea, macarons, sandwiches, shaved ice, crepes, whole cakes, and other items. Staff is really friendly and helpful! I like walking around to other shops as well, but this shop is one of my favorite shops and is tasty! I recommend coming here alone to work, with friends, with family, bring kids, or a casual date. I really like their matcha soft serve and butter cream bread! They have their main dining room and a community room, that has extra tables, so there's plenty of places to sit! There's a bathroom available and WiFi. I come here and do work sometimes and you have to get the WiFi password through a purchase. There are two free parking lots available, so don't fret about parking.
