Great food at a reasonable price! We have eaten at Bella Lisboa for many years and have found the food to be consistently excellent. Three weeks ago was our most recent adventure. We started with their fresh bread with goat cheese and honey -mmm to die for! Our main course was their steak and shrimp dinner special along with their Portuguese house wine. I ordered vegetable paella. My husband ordered Ahi hot stone. The Ahi came on a metal hot plate and we turned it to cook it to our liking. Oh my! Yum yum yum! We've been coming here for brunch for years (even before I moved back). This is one of my favorite places. We used to come because Yaya was amazing but since her departure, it's been the atmosphere that's kept us coming back. I would like to start off by saying date night with my husband at Bela Lisboa was good. We wanted a quick bite and drink special. We ordered appetizer clams, the octopus and vegetable paella. As I was ordering I pointed to eat item to be certain I was understood. This was our second time trying them out. The last time we were there was years ago when they first opened. Once the food came we needed salt. My husband had to go to the bar area to ask the Manager possibly owner with the beard for salt. 8 mins later he had to go back to the Manager and ask for salt again. The manager yelled at one of the servers to go get salt. We finished most of the food received the bill and saw $75. I was a little confused why it was more than expect, I asked the waiter why the octopus was almost $30 the one i ordered was $14. He has limited English so he asked the Manager to come. As soon as the Manager got to our table he was immediately rude and upset. I tried to ask about the check and he was short and aggressive. We paid the bill and left. We will never be returning. As our server noted, Bela Lisboa is the premier Portuguese restaurant in Chattanooga...and the only one. The decor was quite charming, as multiple people in our party noted.We enjoyed the goat cheese w/ fig appetizer drizzled with balsamic and honey, but would love to see the drizzle play a larger part in the dish. They have daily specials available, which is nice. A couple people in our party tried the creamy chicken special, which was pretty delicious and quite similar to chicken picatta. I had the sirloin on a rock. This was super cool and reminded me of the Hot Rock Fish appetizer that used to be available at Table Two. An extremely hot piece of granite is served with with 7-9 strips of cut sirloin sizzling on it. The idea is that you cook your protein to your desired temperature and then choose one of the several sauces they pair it with. Love this concept and it was executed flawlessly. My family and I have been looking forward to eating here for a while now and yesterday, amidst all of of our chaotic schedules, we all finally had the time to try it. Our family had a fantastic dinner here. It was a Saturday night, and they were understaffed, so we were told the earliest available reservation was for 8pm. Because of a looming thunderstorm we showed up half an hour early. We were told they couldn't serve us yet, but we were seated, and menus and waters were brought out. We patronized this restaurant last night for the first time and LOVED IT! The atmosphere was great, the service was lovely and the food was wonderfully delicious. We started with the chicken wing appetizer. The dish was spicy, but not overly so. My husband had the Bacalhau, and it was so good. I had the picanha. The meat was juicy and tender. I had the Malbec, it was balanced with a wonderful fruit taste. For desert we had the lemon meringue, which is more like a moist cake. I don't recommend the coffee though. It was a little bit of a letdown. Overall, we are planning to visit it again with some friends pretty soon. read more

Fantastic! We started with the Caldo Verde soup. This is the first time I've found kale interesting. The soup didn't immediately do anything for me, but as I had more, I began to appreciate and savor its flavor. Then we had the Anéis de Lulas Panados (Breaded Calamari). These were okay, but not the star of the show and we've had better locally. What really did it for me was the Chicken Piri Piri sandwich. Everything about this sandwich was PERFECT. The bread was the best sandwich bread I've had in ages and the chicken was so tender, it was like a memory of chicken I'd eaten as a child. Seriously, most places you go the chicken is almost tough because the restaurant is scared of serving it undercooked. We asked the server about the chicken and she said they use a traditional marinade that can take days. The sandwich came with fries and while they were perfectly fine, the flavor of the sandwich was so much more powerful, it's like trying to compare a queen to her handmaids. read more

The risotto was good but I felt it needed a little more flavor. Also tried the paella and it was delicious, with a wonderful aroma and flavor. The goat cheese appetizer had a honey drizzle and was really great. Prices range average of $15-20 per dish. Appetizers around $8. The chocolate mousse was delicious as was the lemon pie which was more of a cake with a thick lemon mousse type layer.
