I think folks in MI give away their 4 star ratings. This restaurant is at best mediocre. When you walk in, there in no one to meet or greet at the door. I walked to the rear counter where a young man with pony tail and a frowny face asked me "what's up".. I asked if I could sit anywhere, and he said "yeah, anywhere". I picked a deuce near the entrance that had a basket containing pita bread wrapped in plastic, about as unappetizing as it gets. After a couple of minutes, the nice waitress came and asked me if I knew what I wanted to order. I asked a couple of questions on the menu and ordered the grilled half chicken and the salad with fresh feta. She didn't mention that there was a $2 surcharge for the feta, but it was worth it. On the downside, they top the salad with fried pieces of pita bread which were greasy and cold and just plain nasty. I removed them. PS: I relish hot fried pita fresh out of the fryer served in a brown paper bag that absorbs the grease. These were inedible. The grilled chicken came out hot and slightly charred just like I like it with a delicious garlic and yogurt dressing in a cup on the side. The rice pilaf on the other hand, was a sad disappointment. I was expecting basmati browned in butter with noodles and slivered almonds, but instead got some enormous white grain Uncle Ben flavorless substitute with giant chopped almonds. They topped the plate with semi-diced tomatoes and pickles of all things. Pickles... I thought that was odd. Since I'd just had the salad, the plain tomatoes were just boring at this point. All that said, the main reason I give this place 2 stars, is mostly because of the activity going on behind the bar at the rear. The men in the back were talking really loudly, the phone was ringing, orders were being taken, delivery guys were walking through the dining room;, people were picking up orders. But worst of all, these men treated the waitress with such disrespect, almost disdain. It was troubling to me and I felt uncomfortable and sorry for this nice lady. They yelled at her and blamed her repeatedly for things. She'd defend herself saying, " I didn't do that"; "I didn't touch it"; and "I'm doing the best I can" several times during my meal. It was tough to watch honestly, plus, everyone in the restaurant could hear them since it is an open area at the back. I did not finish my meal, got some baklava to go, and got out of there. I have to say that back at my hotel, the baklava was deliciously crispy and crunchy and sweet with honey. That said, I won't go back to a place that treats its only female employee with such disdain and disrespect. What nasty men. I'm sorry she works in that abusive environment. read more
