I can't speak to ambiance because I ordered delivery, but this might just be might new go-to dumpling place. The delivery service is fairly quick, and the prices are amazing for the taste. The food is good enough for one of my comfort meal rotations. The milk tea had the perfect amount of sweetness, and the boba was chewy. The boiled and pan fried dumplings had a standard amount of filling, and I personally liked the thicker skin. Both the pan fried and steamed buns were fluffy, but I think it would have been nice to have a little more filling in those. Would I get them again? Of course! They're still filling. read more

I drive by this place a lot and knew it was going to be a bit divey, which I can appreciate. I was pumped to see how cheap everything was because there were a lot of things I wanted to try and usually wouldn't have ordered so many dishes, but did here because, again, so cheap. Ultimately, I don't think it can be classified beyond divey and none of the dishes were really anything I would order again or would entice me to bring me back. Ordered 5 things (again, cheap!): - Boiled wonton dumplings with spicy sauce: really just meh. Maybe spoiled because the location is so close to so many better options in Flushing. Structurally fell apart. When you look at them, they look like they'll have a ton of flavor (mostly because of the spicy sauce), but it really was rather mid. I was most excited for this and was disappointed. I was pleased to have been offered dumpling sauce for free when I picked up, but...alas could not add much. - Dan dan noodle: It pains me to have had to pay $1.80 to make this dish spicy, but I can't imagine having eaten this without this upgrade. The noodles were fine but the spicy option is the way to go. - Beef noodle soup: Spent $0.90 on the hot oil upgrade and this really couldn't save this. The beef was very limited and the noodles did not hold up well with the soup. It also is super strange to me that this dish was served without soup spoons. - Sesame pancake sandwich with pork: I am never going to turn away a sesame sandwich-type dish, and we actually ended up throwing probably half of this away. There really was just no flavor, the sesame sandwich aspect was a bit tough to eat. Maybe it needed a dipping sauce? It's bigger than I thought it would be, which maybe is it's only saving grace? - Pork & Cabbage bun: I couldn't resist ordering a bun but the many reviews detailing how little the filling is are correct. Much cheaper options in Flushing for better quality. If you're really in a pinch for takeout, it's probably an okay place to try as it is easy to park near and the pick-up was easy. It's was an unfortunate experience and maybe the food is better in person. Essentially: the dumpling is not fantastic and the meat to dough ratio was sad. As a pork bun connoisseur, I was woefully disappointed - the pork bun filling tasted as if it were on the verge of spoiling, but sometimes that taste comes forth when certain vinegars are used in a meat base so I'm wary about saying the food is spoiled. I have never encountered a pork bun I didn't enjoy, so this was a surprise. The noodle dish tasted old and overdressed in soy sauce to likely disguise that. I was in Forest Hills after picking my friend up from her dental school in the area. It was my idea to grab a quick snack here, thinking that this is a second location of a restaurant I frequently order from (of the same name). I came to find out that despite having the same business name and offering the same food items, they are in fact NOT the same. The inside of the restaurant was also misleading since it's got that no-frills, bare-bones look with the uneven wobbly tables and non-matching chairs which is usually a sign of good, authentic Chinese food (usually, the more beat-up the environment looks, the better the food). Big mistake. In this case, the quality of the food matches its environment. We ordered veggie dumplings, a duck sesame pancake (something I have always ordered at the other place), and a milk tea. My friend said her dumplings were simply OK. For me, the sesame pancake was over-toasted and close to burnt, which didn't bother me too much until I had a bite of the "duck" filling and found myself chewing on cartilage and gamey tasting pieces of duck that are usually trimmed off and discarded. What's more mortifying is I could even identify exactly which parts of the duck they packed in there (for example, the cartilage was from part of the duck's knee joint). Why are they ok with serving food they wouldn't even eat to customers?! In contrast, the duck sesame pancake I would get from the other Beijing Dumpling is truly authentic - handmade, fluffy and springy in texture with ample duck MEAT filling. As for the milk tea, I went with plain milk tea because I knew all the other flavors were made with powder and I thought that plain was safe because it should be black tea + milk but no... even this very simple drink was powder. I have no idea where all these good reviews came from. This was the most shocking disappointment from any restaurant experience I've ever had and I felt so bad for trusting the other reviews and bringing my friend here. Food was -1/5 (negative one out of five) but overall I'm giving the restaurant a 1 considering the lady working there was nice. read more

I don't usually do this, but this review is based off of a pick up order. Working remotely today and in the field, I needed something quick and fast while on the run (story of my life). I heard good things about Beijing Dumpling, and let's be honest...you got me at "dumpling"! I was STARVING for some reason, so I went ham and ordered a bunchhhhhhh of stuff, which included Boiled Wonton Dumplings with Spicy Sauce, Boiled Assorted Dumplings, Pan Fried Assorted Dumplings and Dan Dan Noodles. These dumplings were TOP NOTCH! I really enjoyed the boiled shrimp dumplings, which were featured in the assorted order. The Dan Dan Noodles had a nice little kick and also had a nice heat on the back end. The wonton dumplings in the spicy sauce weren't too spicy and I thoroughly enjoyed them as well! The beef felt slightly too salty, still good but not great. The egg sandwich on the other hand was on point. Their menu items are pretty cheap, and unfortunately the food reflects it. The only thing worth eating here is the fried dumplings but beware, they are pretty stingy on the filling, but they're very tasty. The wontons are inedible, the skin is so thick and there's so much of it and there's literally a tiny dot of meat filling that is completely overworked and hard as a rock. The sesame pancakes aren't bad but don't bother getting any with meat in them because you're paying additional money for something that you cannot taste. Duck, beef, pork....it makes no difference because there's so little that you don't even know it's there. All you taste is the overwhelming cucumber that excrete so much water that makes the pancake soggy. However, if you just got the plain pancake, then bring it home, then throw it in the oven to crisp, it's definitely worth the price! read more

After all the good reviews of the dumplings, I am disappointed. An order of dumplings comes with 4 pieces. I ordered the fried shrimp dumplings, but they weren't very tasty. It had two small pieces of shrimp, the rest being vegetables. The inside was a bit watery and tasted a little sour. Yuck. The skin was also too doughy. It might be better boiled. I also tried the duck sesame pancake sandwich which was much better. The pancake part was a bit bland, but there was plenty of meat with hoisin sauce. Add the hot sauce to give it more flavor. Try the sandwiches, skip the shrimp dumplings. They also sell pre-packaged kimchi, seaweed salad, and spicy sliced beef for a reasonable price. Not sure about the taste though. Initially I thought they will be stingy with the pancake fillings but nope. Decent amount of duck. I'm satisfied both with the price and what I get. Went for lunch today. Ordered Shrimp Wonton Soup, Beef Noddle Soup, Pork Wonton and Wonton with Spicy Sauce. $22.86. The Beef Noodle was so so. The beef has no texture, over cooked I think with little taste. I have tasted Beef Noodle Soup from a lot of restaurants from Vancouver to Toronto and in Taiwan and China. I must say the soup has mediocre taste by my standard as compared to my past experience. The texture of the noodles are OK. The best I can rate this would be 6.5/10. The portion was also quite small, about 60% of Toronto's portion. The restaurant is quite narrow only can seat maybe 20 people at most. I asked for some pepper but they have no salt or pepper shakes. The worker scooped some pepper powder from a big jar and sprinkled it on a paper plate. The place is not kids friendly. Food 6.5/10, Comfort 6/10, price 9/10, service o/10, self serve at counter, cleanliness 8/10, Food court style. Repeat: Probably not. read more

Hidden amongst many other restaurants & establishments on Queens Blvd in Forest Hills, one can easily miss this small spot whilst walking or driving, but you wouldn't be missing out on much, to be honest. The beef noodle soup I ordered barely had much soup in it (I feel like it should be filled 75% vs halfway filled). The beef pieces were pretty decent and tender, but broth and noodles were nothing special. It does get the job done if you're looking for a quick, easy, filling, inexpensive meal (only $7 for the soup). For a dumpling house, I wish they also had more variety for the dumplings. They also changed their menu a bit in that they no longer offer a 4-pc option for dumplings in case you wanted a small sample to try. Ordered pick up on the phone and it was ready in 15min. Very fast. We tried a whole bunch of things. Dumplings - pork&chive and chicken basil. Without the sauce (soy sauce mixed with vinegar), I prefer chicken basil. The pork had a bit of the underseasoned pork flavor which I don't like. The dumpling skin to meat ratio was good for me. Pancake sandwiches - we got the Peking duck and the spicy beef pancake sandwiches. It was seasoned enough for me but I probably wouldn't get it again. The meat was very finely chopped so not much meat in there. The pancakes were $1.50 each but sandwiches were 4-4.50. Not worth the upsell. I would just get the sesame pancake and do my own thing at home by adding cucumber or lettuce and large piece of meat with some homemade sauce. Pan fried pork bun - these were fluffy and yummy. Not super crunchy bottoms but it was good enough if you have a craving. Not a lot of filling though. We also got spicy wonton in chili oil. This was pork and shrimp and was yummy. The vegetable hand pulled noodle was greasy but it was tasty when I used the left over wonton chili oil. Total was $38 and fed three adults and we were stuffed!! My go-to spot whenever I am in the area. The people who work there are kind and welcoming. I always order the chicken basil dumplings. I have ordered it 3 different times and each time, they are the same juicy and satisfying dumpling. Not a single flaw in them honestly. I have tried their kimchi and its unqiue, in that, I never had kimchi that has been aged with ginger. It tastes pretty good if you like your kimchi to have some sweetness. A pro tip is that I ORDER AHEAD OF TIME on Yelp and the order is always ready either a few minutes earlier or on time. It is worth it to order ahead, especially if you are impatient and starving. I would say the wait is no more than 20 minutes for the dumplings. I have tried the beef and vegetable... those are equally as good. But I am just obsessed with the chicken! read more

I come here for snacks like their steamed buns. I use to get their sesame pancakes and it was amazing I but I found out I can't have them because they fry it in the same stove as their meats :( which makes me sad cause those sesame pancakes were my favorite thing to get from here. I hope in the future they cook these type of items without meat separate from the meat for my fellow halal/vegetarian/vegan eaters. They do have other things that seem to be okay for us though like their steamed veggie buns, steamed dumplings, etc. i tried their shrimp dumplings and veggie dumplings and it's pretty good.
