The people who here are possibly the dumbest people I've ever met in the food service industry. I asked for a spicy vegetarian dish with tofu. They recommended "Bean Curd Szechuan Style." Since I had specifically said "vegetarian," I didn't look at the menu since I assumed these f*cktards understood that when I asked for a vegetarian dish I assumed they would GIVE ME A VEGETARIAN DISH. "Bean Curd Szechuan Style" has MEAT IN IT, even thought it is listed under the "vegetables" section of their menu. Absolutely never go here if you're a vegetarian, and if you love a vegetarian, also never go here because they will probably stealthily put meat in your loved one's food and then she will go force herself to vomit and feel intense psychological guilt for consuming animal flesh for the next week. Feng Garden is hands down my go-to spot for Chinese takeout in Forest Hills. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistent. Everything from the dumplings to the sesame chicken hits just right. I wanted to try a different Chinese take out restaurant so I ordered from this establishment. The prices were certainly less than I am accustomed to, so that's a positive. The soup ordered was good, but nothing special. The spare ribs were quite good; not over cooked and very flavorful. The lobster fried rice was quite a disappointment. This may look like any other Chinese restaurant .but it has some really good food that separates them from some of the rest.they have some really good food over there, from chicken and broccoli with chicken fried rice to general tso chicken. The general tso chicken is one of my favorites over there,with chicken fried rice and a chopped up egg with some duck sauce and hot mustard, that makes for a really nice dish. The spring rolls and egg rolls are also very tasty. The atmosphere was nice.their staff was polite and friendly ,Also the restaurant it self was clean. The wait for the food isn't long at all.there service is really fast. And they make it the way you ask them to. Also try some of there lunch time specials,they have some really good deals over there. CHECK YOUR CHANGE!!!! I have been here at least 30-40 times over the past 2 years. I don't get upset often when buying food, but this is very consistent and I have to let other customers know. (First mistake), They got the order wrong. I ordered items with sauce on the side, and the chef said ok, told the lady at the counter that its the wrong order, and she said "he mixed it, so!" (Second mistake) walked away and realized that she gave me the wrong change. Went back and confronted the lady that she gave me the wrong change, she pretended and gave me a partial of the missing change (keeping the rest of the change). The worker basically pocketed people's change. It's not about the amount of money, but having dishonest people like that ruins your business. I wouldn't mind giving that as a tip, but you - Got the order wrong, don't care about it - Steal customers change I even saw another customer get taken advantage of as well, they charge her for a large size of the item when she got a small instead. This little takeout joint may look like an average no-frills American Chinese restaurant, where everything is at best "just ok," and at worst "inedible," but don't be fooled. First, I just wanted to qualify how I define an American Chinese restaurant. Simple: they must at least have an egg roll on the menu. For some reason, the simple egg roll is justifiably not found in any authentic Chinese restaurant, including specialized ones such as Szechuan or Shanghainese. In these specialty restaurants, at best you can get a spring roll, which can be tasty, but those are not the places I'm comparing to Feng's Garden. So, of the qualifying Forest Hills American Chinese competitors (which include King Wok, Panda, Asian Fortune, and Grand Sichuan) Feng's Garden reigns supreme. Today, I had my typical standard lunch special to test their basics: Roast pork lo mein, which includes rice (I had the roast pork fried rice) and soup (I had the wonton). Of course, I added a roast pork egg roll, because, when in Rome... The egg roll had a wonderfully crisp chewy wrapper all egg rolls should have, as opposed to the cheaper, thinner ones some places use. It was perfectly fried and the wrapper had no excess grease throughout. The pitfall of a bad American Chinese place is they either crowd the fryer or don't let the fryer come back up to temperature before they cook your egg roll. As a result, that's why the wrapper is so greasy. The wonton soup dumplings were fine, as was the broth. Nothing to write home about, but I've had worse, and it's usually because of the broth. The fried rice was not greasy at all, which I can appreciate, even if it is still fried. Many places make the texture so oily, which is unappetizing. The lo mein was good. The noodles were proper, as opposed to the slightly-thicker cheap kind I've seen far too many places try to get away with using. I rated it 4 stars instead of a perfect 5 because the soup dumplings were so basic. The better places use wonton dumplings with less mass, which means the wrappers tend to be thinner. They also missed the perfect rating because they didn't have fresh homemade duck sauce, something that's a rarity in American Chinese joints. Believe me, you can always taste the huge difference between fresh stuff to the packets; night and day. And nothing brings out the best qualities of an egg roll more than a good duck sauce, which those packets just ain't. read more

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about this place. I think you have to match the review to what the place actually is. This isn't a gourmet Chinese restaurant. It is a fast food Chinese take out joint and it is a very good one for that. Some logistical things first: 1. Credit card minimum is $15. 2. I don't think they really know how to do tax here. They charged me an extra 50 cents for tax, which I thought was fine. The lunch special is $6.95 and they charged me $7.50. But someone else came in and ordered something else for $5.50 I noticed and they charged him $6. I only tried one thing here so far from the lunch special menu which is until 4PM every day including weekends. I got beef and broccoli with pork fried rice. The fried rice actually had a decent amount of pork in it. There was a fair helping of beef and broccoli. You can either get a wonton or hot and spicy soup or egg roll. It was a cold day so I opted for the wonton soup. It was pretty tasty with three decent wontons in it. The wontons were way better than expected, the soup was so so. Overall a pretty good place. They clearly understand English and were very friendly. Food came out fast. Would come here again when I have a hankering for Chinese food. read more

I've been a customer for many years as it's in my area and my go to place for Chinese take out. My biggest complaint is when any restaurant changes a particular dish from how it used to be. I realize that in time the staff changes and how one cook or chef made a dish will not always be the same as another. This is true for their Mapo Tofu dish which I recently ordered. This was one of my favorite dishes for years. It had ground pork and red chili peppers which gave it a good amount of spice without being too spicy. The one I had last week barely had any flavor and zero chili peppers. No consistency will often times cause a restaurant to lose customers as the quality of their food goes down. I'm willing to give them another try, but if there's no improvement I'll have no choice but to find another Chinese restaurant to take their place. read more

I ordered take out delivery from here and I was pleasantly surprised on the portion of food! Like someone before me said, you can easily make 1 order into a meal of 2. Sesame chicken with pork fried rice - it was your average order. I'm not complaining. Good portion size though! Hot & sour soup - I felt it was watered down. However, it tasted ok to me. For Chinese fast food, I think it's good compared to the ones I've tried in Queens. So after looking through Yelp and trying to find a place I haven't been to yet, I noticed this place again.. Not my usual 4 star rating but recent reviews have been positive. Ordered a few lunch specials to try. General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice. Got a lil wonton soup. The chicken is very sweet, lots of flavor. L actually liked it a lot compared to other places we've tried. The roast pork in the rice is good too. The wonton soup is decent. The broth is good, but the wonton skin is too mushy. It was cold at night so we needed something hot to warm us up. The shrimp in lobster sauce lunch special was a really small portion.. mostly pork fried rice and a couple of spoons of the entree on top, it was tasty but incredibly salty for me. This place uses a lot more sodium than I'm used to. Will satisfy Chinese American fast food cravings...way cheaper than ordering authentic Chinese food nowadays. For Americanized Chinese food, this was good, for my taste, I'd prefer less sodium. Pretty convenient for us too, so close to the subway for pick up. read more

Feng's garden is a basic Chinese takeout restaurant. I ordered delivery through Yelp: Kung Pao chicken combo platter with brown rice. The Yelp menu didn't explain what a combo was, but it came with an egg roll. The Kung Pao was only slightly spicy and didn't have any peppers in it. Stopped in and sat for lunch, this late November day was rather cold and I thought that soup may be a nice starter for me. Most all tables were full as I approached the counter at about 2:00pm on a Monday afternoon. The Egg Drop Soup was kinda thick and gummy and maybe too eggy. The bag of fried crunchy crackers, even after crunching them up, wouldn't sink to the midpoint nor would they'd stay submerged. The flavor was good, but I was a bit weirded out by the thickness. Beef and Broccoli was also a bit gummy and sticky but the vegetables were crunchy and although lacking a bit in flavor delivered relatively tasty meal. This was a super tasty and reasonably priced neighborhood Chinese take out option prior to the pandemic. The food always seemed fresh with great flavor. We ordered once in the summer of the pandemic and experienced the same surprise/disappointment other reviewers mentioned with a complete drop in quality and taste. The chicken and broccoli we got was sitting in a container that was all oil, no sauce whatsoever. The egg rolls were disgusting and even the fried chicken wings tasted very weird. It was so bad we just threw it all away and started ordering from another place. Today, in need of a fast dinner and our first nearby option closed, we decided to go ahead and give Feng's Garden another try. The service was friendly, the food if not exactly as before pandemic was much better than our summer experience, and overall no one went hungry. I have to update my review from several years ago because Feng's has come a long way since then! They've definitely stepped up the quality of ingredients they use. We love Feng's and order from them regularly- my current obsession is their Beef Sticks. Mister loves the Shrimp and Bean Sprouts and the Fried Dumplings. On a cold night, we'll slurp down the Wonton Soup and Egg Drop Soup and the House Special Fried Rice is yummy! We especially love Michael, the delivery guy because he's always so sweet and a pleasure to deal with. read more

I have been going to this spot ever since I moved to forest hills 6 years ago and let me just say I feel very lucky that this is my local Chinese takeout. The food is high quality and very filling. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. You get a good bite for your buck here for sure. The boneless spared ribs are to die for. Id recommend getting that with the house special fried rice if your not sure what you want. You wont be disappointed. The wonton soup is delicious and the wontons actually have a good amount of meat in them. Zha Jiang Mian, or "noodles with soybean paste", minced pork (or beef), onion, scallion. (I've had it with peas and cubed carrots but I suspect that's probably more Americanized). My favorite authentic Chinese dishes, and the first thing I look for on a menu (unless Sichuan, then it's Dan-Dan noodles). Total comfort food that puts a smile on my face and a warmth in my belly on a cold winter's day. Delivery estimate was 30-40 minutes, which is the only reason I chose this place. After 50 minutes I called to check on my order and was told the driver had already left. Only then a few minutes later did I get a "delivery on the way" notification, and the food didn't arrive until 15 minutes later, even though this place is only a couple of blocks away from my apartment. By that time my son was in bed and the barking dog woke him up. The shrimp and garlic sauce had a thick layer of oil and the shrimps were not well done as requested. I was never particularly fond of Chinese takeout as it simply never appealed to me. Feng's Garden might have changed that... to an extent. I've only ordered less than a handful of items from their menu before but everything has been delicious. I'm a huge fan of their chicken with broccoli in garlic sauce, beef with eggplant in garlic sauce, and the general tso's chicken - all served over pork fried rice. Their portions are huge and can totally serve as two meals. Even a fatty cannot finish it all in one sitting. The hot and sour soup is pretty good, the egg drop soup not too much. Pass on the egg roll, which is bleh - unless its free of course because who can say no to free stuff even if it does kind of suck. While the food is not crazy dirt cheap, like I said the portions are ridiculous. Plus, they do have some awesome lunch specials. I really don't like writing negative reviews. I came in Thursday 5/20/2021 , ordered 1 egg roll , 1 order of veggie fried dumplings , Angel Hair pasta with shrimp & General Tao Chicken. The egg roll and pasta were ok... but the General Tao was so over cooked and the broccoli was unrecognizable, the veggie dumplings dough was so thick and unedible. Very Unhappy. read more

Happen to try Feng's Garden through some catering. We had some chicken and broccoli and fried chicken wings and white rice. Not sure if it was the combo of both chicken and broccoli and wings but both tasted awesome and fresh. The wings didn't taste like it was refried multiple times. The broccoli in the dish was fresh and not all soggy even though the food was waiting for us to eat about an hour. Will definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area. read more

Want authentic chinese take out? This is the place to be! Their vegetables and meat are always fresh. Every time I come here, i see costumers ordering and yet I get my food on time. Everytime im around the neighborhood, I get Fengs. The food is so good, I cant order just one dish of the menu.
