The beer was very cold and had an enormous selection, and the prices weren't outrageous. The quarters they give you at happy hour is a nice enticement to play a few games of pinball and sample a few more brews. I wanted to like this place, but the bartender went out of his way to be rude. I was wearing a rock'n'roll band tee, and the bearded tap-jockey looked at it and said, "The (band name), huh?" I replied, "Yeah - you ever get to see them play?" He then sneered and said, "I wouldn't if you paid me." and proceeded to ignore me until I left. I don't care about your taste in music, but I'd been a bartender in New Orleans for twelve years and would never insult a sober, polite customer due to the fact they're wearing a shirt with a band name I don't like - not to belabor a point, but the band isn't violent or sexist or racist or homophobic or political - I guess this dude just had a chip on his shoulder. Not a great first time at Beercade. It's a great idea with a large selection of beer. Me and my wife were super excited to play some games. But each game we played jammed and we lost money. In total we lost half our arcade money and only got to play a few games. It's a great idea and really fun but don't be surprised if most of the games steal your change. read more

There's nothing quite like playing arcade games while you're having a couple drinks. Bring your quarters (or don't - they have a coin machine) & get ready to feel the nostalgia. The decor is amazing & the staff is consistently awesome. Seating isn't guaranteed, but usually groups don't camp out at the tables all night so you can usually find a spot to squat before too long. They also have a smaller arcade & bar in the basement where, if you pay a small cover charge, you can play all the arcade games down there for free. Granted, the best games are upstairs, but it's nice to just mill about & play whatever tickles your fancy. The only reason Beercade isn't a 5/5 for me is just how insanely crowded it gets in there on the weekend or when Benson is hosting some sort of event, which isn't really something the bar can control. The bartenders kick ass & get drinks out as fast as they can & the wait isn't unbearable, but it can be a little overwhelming to have to wade through a room packed with people when it's a busy night. Had fun visiting Beercade on a recent trip to Omaha. We went on a Saturday night and it was busy, but not overly crowded. I was able to get in a few games of Tetris and Excitebike, and embarrass myself at skee ball and pinball. I didn't partake of the libations, but my friends did and they enjoyed the selection. One word = TEKKAN I love beercade. You can't go wrong with cheep games, 1$ bags of popcorn, quality drinks, and a good time. I'd probably still come here only for the games. This place has all the old school machines - from pinball to street fighter to skee ball to, of course, tekkan. The downstairs area allows you to purchase a wristband for a few bucks and gives you access to unlimited games (and Wii) and also has a full bar. Upstairs has a wide array of beer on tap and they carry midori instead of cheap melon liqueur, which for me is awesome. The couple of times I've gone, they catered Chinese or deli sandwiches which is a plus. They also have a hand sanitizer stand = a super plus. Games are 50 cents and service is quick and friendly. Was in Omaha for a night, so my friends and I decided to check out Beercade. Yup, you heard it...beer and arcade games! It brought back my childhood memories when my mom dropped me off at the mall arcade while she shopped on a Saturday afternoon. The setup is pretty simple. The building is long in length, with the bar on the left side and the arcade games along the walls. There are booth seating towards the back, so if you're not a fan of playing games you can sit down and enjoy a drink still. They had The Simpsons, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Area 51, Tekken, Skee-Ball, Crazy Taxi, and a lot of other games. I was hoping they would have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the X-Men games, and maybe some more driving/shooting games, but their selection was still pretty good. The majority of the arcade games my friends and I played only took a quarter, while the pinball machines took 2 quarters. So our $10 in quarters lasted while. Back in the day $5 seemed like a lot of money! I also realized that I'm not good at pinball :) The arcade games are also very close to one another, so when people are watching their friend's play, it gets a little crowded, so you have to be careful with your drink. So let me get this right. Beer. Videogames. Great selection of both? Why the hell not? With 27 taps on hand and a selection of bottles, Beercade is one of my favorite places to lose my quarters. The menu is on a vertically hung TV monitor that can be updated instantly. The vibe is slightly hipster, slightly geeky, and slightly beer connoisseur. I have enough of one or more of these qualities that I can indulge in some of my favorite pasttimes. Out of all the games I like the ones that remind me of my youth. Namely all of them. Sometimes I play pinball and other times it is multiplayer 'the Simpsons' a la TMNT. I used to go to a place called Sega City in Irvine and all they had was games. High Score! I love going to Beercade, Beercade is Located in the Benson district of Omaha. It is not such a random occurrence that I stop at Beercade every time that I am in Benson. Usually I roll into the place and head directly to Street Fighter third strike, I put one quarter in and try and get a high score. I usually succeed in getting the first place on this particular machine on one quarter. Other times I come to Beercade to hang with friends and enjoy playing quite a few of the games here. The game selection is nice with about five pinball machines some classics like Donkey Kong and Pac man. Located in the basement is the free play room, open only on Saturdays and Sundays it can also be rented out for special parties. The cost for the basement is only three dollars which gives you access to play all the games held within. This place generally gets super packed on the weekends read more

After some local recommendations that we make our way out to the Benson area on a Saturday night, we ventured here. Seemed to be alive with college aged kids, as well as the 20-something post grads. Out of all the bars in Omaha this is one of the most unique. I was very impressed by their bar display. It fits the arcade theme perfectly, with the arcade style backlit signs above their impressive display of liquor. This place is my new favorite bar. Lots and lots of different beers to choose from and reasonable prices and good service. The games are what makes it fun. Most that I played were only .25-.50 per play which I thought was amazing. They have everything from Skee Ball to The Simpsons to Galaga to Crazy Taxi and even Tekken and Street Fighter. Tons of pinballs machines to play also. I would say the only downside is trying to find parking but that's pretty much anywhere in Benson. Will be back for sure! read more

Beercade is the bar that every nerdy/hip 25-45 year old guy wants to open. Located in a gentrifying area of Benson, NE, Beercade features all of the trappings of things guys want, while still maintaining an atmosphere that is friendly to both genders and families (children admitted with guardian until a certain time, else 21+ required). First is the decor -- very well done with a large video-game themed mural outside, and very smartly-done game-themed signage and tile-work inside. The tap selection is rather nice, with 15-20 items available, as well as what appeared to be a well-stocked full liquor bar. The game selection is interesting, though square footage allows for about 15 game machines, 4 pinball machines, and a skee-ball ramp, but it works for a place to stop in to spend a little time. We arrived during happy hour, which meant that our drinks came with a complimentary $1.00 in quarters (ostensibly $1 off tap beers, but really, what else are you going to do with those quarters but put them in the machines). We started off going co-op on the classic Simpson's game, and were doing well until an unexpected reset after the first boss effectively killscreened us. No big deal, but it would have been nice to get a bit further in the game I haven't played in ~20 years. Ended up playing a little pinball, and sliding in for a 5-minute game of Crazy Taxi in a full sit-down machine. Lots of fun, definitely a place I would be sure to visit when taking a little time on a pleasant, warm, Saturday afternoon. Can't wait to go back! Tekken 5, my nephews loved it! Beercade allows under-agers until 7pm so my brother-in-law and I walked his two oldest up for a few games since its close by. While the kids loved the variety of games, we enjoyed the extensive variety of tasty beers on tap including some palate wrecking IPAs. My favorite :D On the establishment. They were smart enough to keep a similar set-up from the other popular place. Take 1920's tin from the ceiling, some old boards, and old games to go along with the classic Beercade sign and you've got a winning repurpose-styled tavern. Nicely done. A great arcade bar. I've been in a few times since they moved into the expanded space and basically all of my critiques of the old space have vanished. They have much more seating and walking space and twice as many pinball machines! Nice bartenders, a cool happy hour that gives you four quarters for every draft beer you purchase. The bar has some really subtle and clever design elements that make it visually appealing and a perfect homage to all the great classic arcade machines they harbor. A cool hangout in the Benson neighborhood, it is a bar with 24 beers on tap (which would be enough to attract me), but they guild that lily by adding video games (including pinball machines, a bunch of video games that cannot name, and...[trumpet bugle]...skee-ball). They also have a nice long happy hour (starting at 2, through 7), which includes $1 in quarter with any draft beer. They sell snacks like hot dogs and chips...but how can you eat when your hands are full of delicious craft beer and a skee-ball? This is one of my favorite bars in Omaha and a must stop for anyone that comes into town, even for a brief moment. They have around 20 taps with GOOD beer. The cheapest you will find is a $3 PBR and prices do not go much higher than $5 or $6 on the rest of the good stuff. The bar is fully loaded with all the gins, vodkas, and whiskeys you would need. They also have a hotdog, chips, and PBR special for $5. The happy hour is 2 to 6 and it is simply, buy a draft beer and get $1 in quarters in return. As far as the atmosphere...they have roughly 10 stools at the bar and one long community table. It is definitely not a place you go to to chat and that was by design. They have a ski-ball table upfront, 4 pinball tables on the east (bar) side of the establishment, and roughly 15 to 20 video games that line the wall. Last time I checked, they had 76 arcade games. They rotate the games every couple of weeks, so the games do not get old. The games are all their original prices and not up-charged like Dave and Busters. The games are a mixture of classics from the late 70's to the mid 90's. It is like returning to the Tilt or Aladdin's Castle...but better because there is beer! read more
