They're not kidding - it's a dive bar - and for what it does, it's probably one of the better ones I've been to across the country. We came in for karaoke and were not disappointed. The DJ ran an efficient line, had access to just about anything you could ask for, and overall the singers weren't half bad. The inside is sort of cramped, but they have an outdoor patio area that was really nice -- especially since the weather was cooperating for us. I probably would have given this place four stars if they had any actual wine -- they only had the small pre-packaged airplane style bottles of swill. I mean, it's a dive bar, so I don't expect crazy good wine, but I thought I'd at least be able to get something in the quality range of Yellowtail, Sutter Home or Kendal Jackson. But eh. They did have some craft beers on tap, so that's what I went with even though I'm not much of a beer drinker. And finally, bathrooms - yikes. my friends and I decided to head to this bar after having a drink at the Moon because the bartender recommended it... that decision ruined our night. we walked in sat down thinking about what we wanted to get. mind you its a Sunday night around 11:00pm after graduations, most of the college students are gone or heading home. We head up to the bar and they ask for our IDs, normal we're of age but younger looking, so it's expected. The guy barely glances at our IDs and says nope we can't accept out of state IDs only Nebraska IDs the fakes are getting too good. HE DIDNT EVEN LOOK AT OUR IDS! he only saw that they were out of state. He said it was a "new policy". My friend even offered a second proof of ID and he just shrugged and said no. I understand they can refuse service to anyone but we had only just gotten there and sat down. Nowhere did it say only Nebraska IDs. Needless to say i will never go there again and will recommend people to avoid this "college town dive bar" at all costs. Don't go there unless you have a Nebraska ID, or else you'll be refused service. 0/10 experience. read more

This bar has become a big favorite of my households. I have been there multiple times now and have never had a bad experience. The drinks are great and strong. Coming from OR, we weren't used to bars not serving food, but they let you bring in food or order food which honestly blew our minds. You can't do that in Oregon. There's a couple games on the patio, darts and pool inside. The best part is it's walking distance from our house! Don't forget to order a "dirty butthole." I promise you, you won't be disappointed. Alderman's is a dimly lit dive during the day/evening and, for whatever reason, a karaoke hotspot for local scenesters on the weekends. But first and foremost, Alderman's is a old man bar complete with plenty of old men and old man beers on tap. We're talking Hamm's, Coors Light/Bud Light/Miller Lite, etc. During my visit, the bartender was pushing $2 tallboys of Busch Light. So I had a Blue Yummy, sure. Then I found out that 16 oz. cans of Hamm's were also $2. Cool. THEN I found out that a pint of Hamm's on tap was only $1.50. Weird pricing system, but oh well. Alderman's also has plenty fancy beer options (in bottles) for the snooty drinkers out there. Must be for the karaoke crowd on the weekends. I love this place. A friend of mine relocated to Omaha and we've hit this place up on our trips to see her. See, this is my kinda place - friendly service and patrons, funny stickers, strong drinks, decent prices and beer in a mason jar. What is not to enjoy? Established in 1937, it was rumored that the original location across the street had a dirt floor, according to the also warm and friendly bartender. Mikey was a regular himself once, but he's now been employed at Alderman's for 10 years . Once you walk into Alderman's you're immediately engulfed by a veritable découpage of decorations. The space behind the bar is covered in pieces of bar wisdom such as "The customer is always right, but the bartender decides who is still a customer." Another section of the wall is a tribute to the Once and Future King (Elvis... if I really have to say it). Every other space on these walls is filled with vintage beer advertisements from PBR, High Life, Rolling Rock, Schlitz, Hamm's and more. It's like a museum exhibit. I spent a good portion of time browsing the collection. Alderman's isn't short on entertainment with Keno and Megatouch at the bar, two pool tables, dart board, digital karaoke, a bimini ring game in the "Omazone" smoking patio, and if that weren't enough, karaoke starts at 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. If singing isn't your thing, but vast knowledge of the universe is, test yourself and others on trivia nights every Thursdays at 9 p.m. With four TVs, college and professional sports are never in short supply. One television on my visit was dedicated to music videos. Alderman's isn't short on anything to put lead in your pencil. They have 13 "Beer & Shot" specials for $5 or $6 offered every daily to keep the drinks in your tummy and the paper in your wallet. A really nice place. It has been a while since I last came here and the "new" owner made it way more cool. Lots of stickers claiming facts (terrorist hunting permit, 091101, no limit) might bother some folks. This is the heartland and I can't be mad if some drunk dude was all about professing his ignorance. The staff was welcoming and the beer is cold. Can you ask for more? A decent selection of craft beers in bottles and plenty of cheap schwill on tap. Some Hamm's, PBR, and that other crap everybody likes on tap. Odell's 90 Schilling, Lagunitas, etc.. in bottles. Your clientele is either hipsters or people old enough to be my grandparents. You serve cheap tap beers in mason jars and you offer me a shot special if I buy a bottle of Miller Lite. I haven't drank in many many years. But I felt this place deserved a shout out. I learned how to play pool here as a kid with my Grandfather. This was my Grandparents bar from the 1960's to early 80's until they got a bit old for it, lol. But still came in once in awhile. Many of their 6 kids (including my Mother) used to run into that bar whenever the neighborhood craziness was scaring them. Or later years on, adult domestic issues as well. Mickey Alderman would let hang em' out until the threat passed. Sometimes she even directed the threat to leave like it was a mob bar, lol. It was like my elder family's own little Irish mob bar to run to, lol. Mickey knew the whole family. Sadly, Mickey's long gone now. But the ambiance of this little gem hasn't changed much. Dive bar feel without the crazy usual dive bar B.S. Perfect for the low key drinkers out there. Even the neighborhood has improved from a low income red light district to a more urban renewal area. Yes, there are still crazy people and lots of lower income around. But not nearly as threatening as it was in the 60's through the early 90's. That's when there were still a about 10 bars and a several large multi unit ghetto apt buildings within a 4 block stretch East of Aldermans. Not anymore! Went there for the first time a about a month ago. Nobody there so I couldn't get a feel for the bar. Left and came back a month later on a Saturday it was pretty busy. Getting a drink was a little difficult but I assume because its a bar with a lot of regulars. Got my drink and a shot. Decent price cold beer. But what really stood out and put this bar on my places to go on a weekend was the generous amount of sexual deviance. I must have gotten lucky 3 to 4 times. And with some very attractive guys I might add! Right behind their smoking table outside this really hot Mexican guy took me back and gave me the best hand job I have ever gotten.
