I'm still going down a long list of burger places to compare. Beefy's is my 5th place to try. Local spot with character and plenty of seating inside and out with the combo of bar+bus+picnic tables. Lots of fans including mist fan outside to fight the heat. Bus feels spacious but seating is a bit cramped with tiny metal bench seats. Lots of other options other than burgers (hot dogs, chicken, etc) but come on, what's the name of the place? Service was fast, about 15 minutes to get our burgers but the place was near empty on a weekday mid afternoon after the typical lunch period. Insider tip I got: If the place is even 1/3rd full, be prepared for a long wait (minimum half hour?) I noticed quite a few reviews mentioned the prices were high. And when I got the bill for $60 for two people with tax and tip I might have agreed, at first, especially if my main repeat burger joints were In-n-out/Wendy's/Jack-n-Box. But comparing to those places is not apples-to-apples. It's 1/3 lbs patties here (70% more than the just below 1/4 lbs of meat you get on a Double Double) and quite a step up in meat quality from those chains. About $16+ for single patty burger and $20+ for double, but that also includes fries and a drink. I get the feeling people complaining about the prices have to be burger addicts with the review perspective of a frequent In-n-Out patron which allows getting your "fix" more frequently on the average budget. I would prefer if I could opt-out of the full meal deal for a lesser price and just get a burger. If you get a beer, the included soft drink is redundant or unnecessary. And some may prefer to focus on the protein without additional carbs/calories from the fries. But granted this isn't a place to be counting calories. Burger is high quality all around and they cooked them actually medium rare as ordered. Many places don't give a cook temp option or still overcook. Fries were great, better than the freezer burnt airy texture of In-n-Out. My only criticism is both the fries and the patty had too much salt but not to an inedible point. A common occurrence though given the cook's and/or typical frequent fast food eater's salt-desensitized palate. So Beefy's ties at #2 with The Parlor sitting between my #1 Royce and #3 Archie's, then #4 Juicy's. Armando & Sons and Barrio Burger are next.

Quantity and quality at its best at Beefys. One of my go-to spots when craving a cheeseburger! A big cheeseburger foodie myself and gotta say the amount of food you get and the taste/quality is perfection! Try em out you won't be disappointed foreal foreal.

Beefy is like no other diner that you've been to at least for me. It's part dining car, dining bus and outdoor seating. It has the vibe of 1950-ish with a Reno flair. The burgers are made from beef by local distributors, one that is right next-door, Ponderosa Meats. The staff are very friendly and genuinely care about the product they serve. I ordered the Nevadan which was a classic juicy burger with all of the common things like lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. It was great. I also ordered the zesty garlic buffalo wings, which were out of this world. One of our dining neighbors gave me a sample of the Thermo nuclear wing, which was way way too hot, but delicious. My wife ordered the pastrami pileup which was piled high with pastrami and also a third pound patty. It was all too yummy with a perfect mix of flavors. I can't believe I've lived here for 27 years and had not tried Beefy's. Give me a call and I'll meet you there cuz I'm going back for sure.

Really great burger first time at Beefys and it was great. I got to meet the Owner and talk to him really nice guy. I still need to go back and try more but that burger I had I really enjoyed. Thank Pat.

Cute little food truck in midtown. Friendly service and amazing food. I ordered the Nevadan which is basically their classic burger. I also ordered garlic fries. The burger was well seasoned and the fries were hot, fresh and delicious! I will absolutely be back

Stopped by this burger spot for dinner and I'm so glad we did! The best burger I've ever had. Hands down! We had THE VAQUERO garlic Parmesan tots. They were incredible! The best time I'm in Reno this is for sure one of my first stops! The service was fantastic too!

First off I have to say that the burger was perfect. I ordered the breakfast burger. Cooked medium egg with over medium as requested, and the bacon was good. There's a place gets one star though because I didn't check the prices. When I arrive the guy charge $24.95 that's correct a burger, some tater tots and a drink. I was pretty put off by this, but just left thinking holy crap this place has gotten expensive. When I arrived home to eat my burger, I decided to look up the prices and there was a menu posted from last month by peter H. $12.50 for the breakfast burger. $6.99 to upgrade it to a combo. Total price $19.50 ...My price: $24.95. I even asked on the phone if they had a combo special he said yes they did and asked me what I wanted to drink. Even if I was charged separately, I find it hard to believe that a drink and tater tots is $12. If there's up- charge for switching fries tots, the guy can say hey I'm gonna charge you five dollars extra.

This greasy spoon is a dive that is for sure- extremely cramped inside (we were in "the nook" and some other people sat down and put a stool in front of the only way we could get out which made me nervous of a grease fire breaking out heh). But honestly my burger and the fries were quite well prepared and the components of the burger were obviously fresh/ scratch made and well sourced (I would hope so, burger and fries is over $20 here). Glad I asked before I decided on what burger to try, as I was told the house sauce was a tartar sauce.. who puts tartar on a beef patty? Is it really a tartar sauce like gherkins and capers and tarragon? Or is it a mayonnaise with relish in it? Could you actually explain it if you work there? I don't know. Service was a little clunky, the owner had a weird conversation with his server about how to serve the customer in the middle of the restaurant for all to hear which was virtually; to let them wait, that's how we do it here lol

I am officially declaring Beefy's the best burger joint in Reno! My wife and I have been discussing over the past few months what the best burger joint is in Reno. This includes not only the quality of the burger (most important) but fries, location, service, selection, consistency, the full package! We have determined that Beefy's meets all the marks, and is now the top recommendation if anyone asks where they should go for the best burger in Reno. Pat the owner is a bit of a character and I always appreciate his attention to service and the personality he brings to the experience. A huge plus I found on my last visit, they have a new bus to expand their seating, which has always been a bit of a struggle since it's a small diner. The bus has bench type seating with a TV, heating and cooling, and some neat decor. On this last visit, I opted to splurge and got the Pot Belly Burger which was so good, with Bacon, Ham and Pastrami included. My wife went with the Nevadan and would rate it a great standard burger with cheese. The Parmesan fries were a nice treat and one basket was more than enough for us. Always good beers on tap, we both got a local IPA that was refreshing. If you are looking for an authentic Diner with the best Burger in town, stop by Beefy's and you won't be disappointed!

DO NOT COME HERE AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! They are trashy. Go from eating to cooking. Waited 1hour 52 minutes FOR ONE BURGER! Forgot pickles and tomato's on the one burger. Said they prioritize first come first serve which INCLUDES ONLINE ORDERS LIKE DOORDASH AND UBER EATS. There was only 4 people in the building total (2) being my friends and it took that long for one burger than after speaking to staff they got upset and said theres a 1 hour sign wait on doors. Frozen onion ring. 28.99 for a small burger than smaller or same size IN AND OUT. Food was nasty and not because it was sitting in grease gross because staff is eating. Do NOT COME HERE. IT IS NOT WHAT IT SAYS ON TV ITS NOT. !!!!! Asked staff how long they said 10 minutes and ended up being 58 more minutes.

Solid! What a great burger joint. Small but ideal for a quick burger and beer. The bus outside is a cool niche seating area. Good service and cooks were cool. Really glad to have finally got to check it out.

A plethora of their food! (A burger with actual meat)
    Hadassah D.

Beefy's was awesome (I say as a vegetarian, haha)! They were so accommodating to our large party and let us have the bus to ourselves. Despite the actual restaurant not being the kind of place, size-wise, where a large party should fit easily, the staff made sure we were able to get dinner there. We were a group of 12 celebrating my brother's graduation ceremony and they did a great job getting our order in and out to us in a timely manner. They also didn't make any mistakes with our orders which is really impressive because I think that can be difficult sometimes when ordering such a large quantity of food. Everyone in our party seemed super happy with the options available, this place is very accommodating diet-wise whether you choose to eat chicken, beef, or no-meat. I tried a chocolate-malt shake, the vaquero with a veggie patty and pepper jack cheese, and onion rings. Everything was absolutely delicious! The onion rings were the perfect amount of crispy and salty. The veggie burger was delicious, a little crisp and buttery-tasting, the fried jalapeños added a nice crunch and kick. I also really enjoyed the ranch, it was thick, creamy, and the right amount of salty. To sum it up, this place was amazing and the service was excellent.

We visited this place because my husband loves burgers, and I like fries. We sat inside without realizing they have these awesome bus tables outside. It's such a cool concept, having tables inside a bus! The atmosphere was really fun, with a nostalgic American vibe from the past. My husband, who's pretty picky about burgers, absolutely loved his. He mentioned he'd definitely go back to try another one. I enjoyed the fries and the delicious sauce they served us as well. Definitely worth a visit!

We ups recommend both of those. This is the problem--we ordered to go so we could take back to work. The first bite of the burrito was charred. Tasted that way. This burrito should have had only cheese, eggs, bacon, and potatoes. It was missing cheese (which, ironically, may have made the completely charred bacon doable). You'd think it'd be even easier to make, not having to cook sausage, too. This bacon was not just burned. It was inedible. Because the restaurant was now closed and we couldn't leave work, I had nothing but a horrible taste in my mouth. It looked so good. I like crispy bacon, the burrito was hot. My sister was really looking forward to a visit @ Pine State Biscuits. With a 4+ star rating and…read moreover 1500 reviews, this place can't miss. Right??? Our family of 8 arrived here to a line that only continued to build. The line exited the building and began to wrap alongside the building. Seating here is first come first serve and are only designated by staff. Saving tables and sitting down prior to placing an order is a big no-no. BUT!! That didn't stop others from doing this anyhow. Let me start off by saying how chaotic this place is. This began from the initial line up to order and continued throughout the meal. Staff seemed flustered, overwhelmed, and moody. I'm not sure if the vibe of our visit would be considered "normal" to the staff and regulars but from my perspective looking in, it just seemed uncomfortably unorganized. As a forewarning to those who have never visited this establishment before, do your research and try to decide on what you would like to order prior to reaching the register area. Being prepared assists in quicker lines and you avoid looks of annoyance overall. Our family ordered a bunch of stuff: *THE REGGIE- hold the cheese & gravy *BLUEBERRY CORNMEAL PANCAKE - single *CORNMEAL PANCAKE- single *BUILD YOUR OWN BISCUIT - bacon, sausage, egg *Side order of EGG *Side order of BACON x2 *CHICKEN FRIED STEAK PLATE w/ BISCUIT *HASH BROWN, 2EGGS, + BACON *THE MONEYBALL *BEIGNETS Food came out at all different times. It was just unfortunate how one child in particular's meal came out at the very end when everyone was pretty much done with eating. The female staffer who brought over the dishes dropped plates on the table before scurrying off. At first I thought it was just a random occurrence but when it consistently happened, there was no way to justify that kind of service. Food was doable. The whole hype over Pine State Biscuits was simply that- JUST HYPE. The dining experience overall and vibe of the eatery was just not my scene. Kudos to those who genuinely enjoy the establishment but I'm gonna have to pass. I wouldn't openly waste my time or calories here.

this used to be an absolute favorite spot of mine. i actually had this reciew sitting in my drafts…read morewhen it closed: "best spot for a late night diner meal. great milkshakes. breakfast served at all times. food is alright, but definitely hits the spot if you're out in the middle of the night." however, with the re-opening, the diner closes at 2pm. there is a bar area that is open until 11, which has a much smaller menu and not the same charm. went for dinner the other night, the food was fine. it was much more of an okay sports bar menu. they were out of some things too. there are only a couple milkshake options. the gold 'n silver shake was amazing, but they don't give you the full diner-style tin anymore! the service was also fine. i'm looking forward to going back to try the re-opened diner side, but with the new hours, i'm not likely to go much anymore. i'm disappointed that a once regular spot of mine is now much less available. reno has very few late night dining options, and now we've lost our best one.

Sadly, after reopening under the same name. They could not reproduce the same place. The staff…read morewas very friend and helpful. I had heard it was not very good, but wanted to try it myself. So we order BLTAs with sweet potato fries. The fries were actually almost completely burnt. But they were passable and didn't want to send them back, because it already took a very long time and the restaurant was almost empty. We did not tell her that the BLTA was not all that great either. One of the waitresses offered to get us new fries, but we really didn't want to wait. So she spoke with her manager and they offered us free milk shakes to make up for the fries. Now, I have to say, if you are offering something as simple as a milkshake to make up for bad food, it should be the best milkshake ever. It was not! I think they put in a tablespoon of ice cream with milk and whipped cream. To add insult to injury. They did not tell us when we sat down around 1:15pm that they actually closed the entire restaurant at 2 pm! It used to be a 24 hour a day restaurant. Yes, they literally gate off the actual restaurant. Then they have a garage door opening into the bar that serves bar food instead of dinner. It's really too bad. What they need is a good chef/cook. If the J Corporation wants to keep this place open, they really have to do something. I would suggest getting yourselves a decent chef and reaching out to the local Yelp group for their help. The actual restaurant itself was bright and airy. They kept some of the booth format, but refurbished the seats and table tops. So it's still a diner atmosphere, which is fine, it's just not up to 4 or 5 stars. It does still have a small casino area that you don't have to walk through when going to the restaurant. And the bar has slots as well.
