I only heard about this joint from a friend of mine who originally meant to try to get a job bartending there. He and I'd often pick a single night on a given night just to hop around from city to city on random nights just to get our drink on. When the name of this place came up, we kind of pictured the infamous Blue Oyster bar from the Police Academy films! Finally, one fateful night a few yrs. back, we decided to give it a spin and hot damn was it well worth it. We've gone back quite a few times since, and it's always consistently fun. Beefy's Cabin is just a fun place! Great drinks, friendly staff and owner and one of the best places to play darts I have ever seen. Yes it is a dive bar, but it is by far one of the best dive bars I have ever seen. Go there to relax and just have fun! Nothing frilly about this place, just a good comfortable friendly place. I love this bar, and the staff with all of my heart. Ok, maybe thats too much, buut they really are the best, and the only reason I go there. Friendly atmosphere, nice tracks on the Juke, and really cozy. I had been patroning since it was previously "Scotty's", and nothing changed but the name, and the fact you can't smoke inside anymore. This is probably one of my favorite bars to go to when I want to have a good kick back time with my buds. The first time I went I thought we would be out soon... maybe within the hour but we ended up staying the whole night. The bartenders are really nice and on most nights I actually see them hanging out there(.. on their days off) so we end up getting to know them better. It's not a huge bar but it is a friendly one. The regulars make you feel at home and I have yet to see a fight. They have dart and pool tournaments which is interesting to watch and sometimes even beer pong! I actually like that the bar is not in the best location (for it is hidden within the mini shopping center) that way it's not as crowded so most of the faces you see there are familiar. read more

The only reasons this place loses a star for me is that unless you come here right before a dart tournament you have to play on old deformed dart boards, the second reason is that they don't play music in between jukebox selections. Every bar should have music playing regardless of whether the patrons want to pay $1.00 for each 2-5 minute song or not. I think the beer prices are great $5/$6, pitchers $17 aren't available everywhere and it's a good way to drink with a reasonable tab. I came here to play darts on a REAL (non-electronic/plastic) dart board and they have 5 dart boards which is amazing. There aren't many places in the Bay Area or even in California with real dart boards. If you're looking for a relaxed environment, uncrowded, and calmer environment, this is the place. I gave this place a chance simply on the reviews provided by yelp, my first instinct was "Beefy's Cabin"?? What a strange name. What am I getting myself into? The place looks run down and divey from the outside and it's situated next door to a sketchy massage parlor in an older style strip mall. One of the best dive bars I have been to. Very laid back and the bartender was really nice. Not to mention drinks are a lot cheaper than any other bar or restaraunt in the area. I was at this place with our company engineers on 7/27/2012. We purchased drinks and snacks which we brough with us. I had one beer and went to the mens restroom which was dirty and smelling. I tried to open the door but could not get it open as the door was stuck. I banged hard at the door shouting Please HELP, HELP for about 2 minutes and nearly passed out as I could not breath and started sweating. A guy and bar lady came and kicked the door and told me door was stuck due to weather. We were about 20 engineers trying to have a good time but I did not have a good time at this place. read more

I had to come here once i saw the name. I love dive bars with funny, clever names. We just stopped in for a quick drink and the bartendress was nice. The bar was a bit oddly set up for an afternoon hangout, but I can see that if you love to play darts that this would be your heaven. Lots of boards, lots of space. Ok, it is a little hole in the wall. But there are lots of real dart boards which are almost impossible to find nowadays. Pool tables as well. The owner and staff are courteous and the juke box has some of the funniest music I've ever heard. None of which I can repeat here! There are league dart nights (Monday & Thursday) as well as open tournaments on Saturdays. Ask the bartender for darts and aiming fluid. Yeah, it's a dive bar. But they know your name here! Seems like a cool bar for locals. I'm just visiting, but the bar has what I'm looking for: a table in the corner to drink a beer, listen to the tunes, and people watch. This place might as well be my living room. Met some strangers in a parking lot one night and they told me they were heading to Beefy's. It's about a block from my house but I'd never been. They asked me to join them and now I have trouble going anywhere else. The staff is friendly and outgoing, as is the owner. They treated me like they'd known me for years, better yet they treated me like family. The clientele is incredibly diverse and makes for great conversations. Beefy's draws a motley of folks from a variety of professions, transplants and natives. I have learned so much about the history of the community from some of the patrons. Anyways, getting to business: The beer is served cold and the darts get serious. The pint glasses always have a little ice around the rim. The restrooms are kept clean. And finally it's just off the beaten path enough to make you feel like you found something special. read more
