Fibbar MaGees is such a vibe. I have wandered in here on a handful of occasions with friends and I've always had a positive experience. The food is full of flavor and served nice and hot... and the staff / service is always top tier. Questions? They'll answer or provide recommendations. Quick, friendly and always with a smile. Even when they are jammed packed and there's not one available seat in the house, the staff is always on top of everyone's needs. Overall, this is an excellent place to grab some delicious food and catch a game or just sit, drink and gab with friends. Plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, indoor decor (complete with a full snug and bar seating) & vibes are neat. * Service was great, waitress was attentive & made sure we had what we needed. * HH specials are nice (check their menu & website for details) and included discounts on Irish beers * Food: We tried the Friday fish & chips special (regularly $24, $14 on Fridays). The portions were generous but both the fish and chips were overfried - items were dark and fosh in particular was oil-soaked to the touch. Finally visited on a non-trivia night, and I'm happy to report Fibbar MaGees was still an incredible experience! I stopped by very late on a Thursday night, and there were plenty of open tables. On Tuesdays, it's usually packed and hard to find a table because of trivia, so this was a nice change of pace. The atmosphere felt cozy and fun, with big groups of friends enjoying a drink. The employees were super friendly, and Evelyn was so kind, as usual. The food was delicious! The portions are also really generous. The Fibbar Burger is a solid entree, and for $1, you can upgrade your fries to garlic fries. The beef patty is well-cooked, and it's my ideal burger. On Thursdays, they have a $10 (!!!!) flat iron steak with veggies and a baked potato with gravy on a sizzling skillet deal. I did ask for a medium rare steak, and the steak was definitely giving extremely well-done. That being said, it was still absolutely delicious, so no issues there! The baked potato was buttery and soft. I can't recommend the Butter Toffee Cake enough! They serve the cake warm and gooey, and it pairs well with plenty of whipped cream. You can't go wrong here: amazing ambiance, delicious food, and great service! I come here every week, and I'm absolutely obsessed with this place. read more

We got out of the large crowd today on Murphy street for brunch and walked into Fibbar. It was like walking into a different dimension. Totally loved it! The service was expected and the food was good. I really liked their Buffalo cauliflower! I got Guinness and loved it so I got another one! We've been coming here for years and it's definitely changed its vibes in all these years (in a good way) while keeping everything good about it and only making improvements along the way. Restrooms for example are now wonderfully upgraded and well maintained! Food has always been good and reliable, specially for Irish fare. Huge selection of beers and some amazing gin and tonics too, from Irish counties. The service is always friendly and pretty quick too. We love to come for the Irish breakfast but other favorites include potato skins, potato leek soup with soda bread, chicken curry and rice and the Irish pies (chicken or Guinness). The atmosphere totally reminded me of my trip to Ireland the Pub crawls there are Epic Great place to watch a game lots of big screen Televisions with nice little nooks and a good size beer garden in back as well as covered Parker seating out front. I had the Shepards pie it was flavorful and the mashed potato top was just the right thickness. The last thing you want is the mashed potatoes to be all that you taste. So it had the perfect balance. My Hubby got the Guinness Beef stew. He enjoyed it but thought that the stew could have been thicker. The meat was cooked perfectly super tender and pulled apart with your fork. Had a large drink menu but that was the only highlight. Service was attentive during the first half but when a couple more people joined us the servers were no where to be seen! We even tried to go to the bar to order but they wouldn't let us order there. I got a club sandwich which was incredibly disappointing. It had such little turkey, tomato and lettuce that I could only taste the bread. There was an ample amount of bacon but it was soooo saltyyy. The vibes were great on a Friday night! My friends and I came in around 11PM, and there were a few tables open for us to sit at. Almost 3.5 stars? Popped in for a bevy after The Oxford across the street was closed for a private party. Friendly and attentive staff (4.5 stars for them). Typical pub interior, but some nice covered outdoor seating in the front and the back. The back patio has four tv screens. I have to say that I haven't been in the area for years. I decided to hop on an Express Train from San Jose to Sunnyvale for dinner and stopped by Fibbar MaGees after all this time. It continues to serve and excellent Black and Tan, but I was most surprised by the Cole Slaw that came with my Reuben sandwich, the absolute best and balanced I have had for a very long time. I am glad hit this place a week ahead of St Patty Day - it satisfied the itch I didn't know that so had. Obviously, coming on a Monday that is not a Holiday means I was pampered beyond imagination. I've been here twice and while their daily specials are priced really well and enticing, the service can use some major help. On both occasions, the service was extremely slow. Getting drinks took forever, the food took a while to come out and when it did, it was like warm and average, at best. It is a great bar in downtown Sunnyvale. Everytime I came to Fibbar MaGees with friends we always had a great time as the environment allows you to have a great conversation. Last time I was there there was a basketball game (the Warriors were playing) and it was great. Very good finger food, nice variety of beers and spirits. Service is very attentive always. We always enjoy going to Fibbars, and even moreso today on their 30th birthday party. The menu was limited--wisely based on the crowd size--but there were still plenty of food options, including the Irish standards. We shared the shepherd's pie and, because we were concerned that the pie wouldn't be big enough for two, we ordered the corned beef fries starter. We needn't have worried. The pie was plenty big, but the fries were so good we ate those as well. Our friend had the fish and chips and pronounced it as good as always. The beer selection at Fibbars is always good with several options of many varieties including ipas, dale's, loggers, pilsner's, stouts, and sours and fruited beer. Not to mention ciders. Most of the beers stay the same, but they introduce new ones frequently enough to make it interesting. My wife had a Pliny, which she always enjoys and I had a Mango Cart wheat beer. It was delicious as always. Our friend had the nitro red stout, which was very tasty and something I might get next time we go. Finally came back to try their Guinness pie with friends on a Saturday night. The diced veggies and beef immersing in creamy gravy and the crispy puff crust created a contrasting tasting effect. It was very good! Part of the food specials at Fibbar, it was of a great value. Pinot tasted mellow and light on alcohol. I felt ok even though I don't usually drink. Service was even better than last time. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and easy-going. Overall staff were very nice and polite. Been here before it's been years. Tried the saint Patrick's day menu everything was good. Fish and chips are tasty and the stew is a tomato based broth that comes with bread. Went well with a pint.
