Newly remodeled and looking very very nice and comfy
Anthony S.

The re modeling of the inside is fantastic! Big screen TVs everywhere, new comfortable booths and seating and the arrangement makes it the inside much more spacious and cozy. The service was excellent and i was really looking forward to trying out the food as the menus looked new as well. My wife and i ordered the Tuesday taco special enough was 2 tacos and chips. She had chicken and i had 1 chicken and 1 beef. The chips were fresh and tasty. The tacos were reminiscent of old beef o bradys, which i wasn't a big fan of. Ive never been a fan of bar food, and i always felt that was what beef o bradys was...a bar with a small kitchen for finger food. I was hoping so very much that the food would have been upgraded like everything else was but i was disappointed. The chicken and beef really were quite bland and tasted like freezer section microwavable food. I did not enjoy the quality of my food or the presentation of it, but my wife loved her food so i may just be a bit too picky. I may give another chance and try the burgers next time.

Went to Ocala for a visit from S FL. This Sports Bar/Restaurant was located in the Publix shopping center so we stopped for a quick bite before shopping. My boyfriend has a place nearby and he suggested we try this together. He has been here before and liked it. I would say the food & atmosphere was comparable to most Sports Bars. The service was casual and friendly. They really wanted to please us. I didn't take the time to review the entire menu because they had a separate two for $20 menu which included an appetizer. We found one listed as new on the menu buffalo cauliflower. It was quite good.. lightly breaded florets fried and tossed with buffalo wing sauce and sprinkled with blue cheese crumbles .. ranch dressing & celery sticks on the side. Mark ordered chicken tenders Parmesan w garlic bread. I ordered their wings which were a choice of regular or boneless and a variety of sauces and rubs to choose from. I stuck with original w buffalo sauce. I had to ask for celery sticks and blue cheese. They came out crispy, the way I like them because I forgot to ask. There were plenty of large screen TVs with all sports playing. It was a mixed group of people all ages sitting at booths, tables, high tops and the bar. There was no wait and not very noisy which was good for talking. There was some good music playing . We will return again.

charged $7 per beer for a local IPA, or "Import" as they called it, which is INSANE because the beer is from Gainesville, FL ...1 hour north

The food was good, no complaints there, BUT costumer service was absolutely ridiculous!! We were charged $7 per beer for a local IPA, or "Import" as they called it, which is INSANE because the beer is from a local brewery out of Gainesville, FL. A pint of Big Nose at any other bar or restaurant is no more than $5, even at the bar I bartend at, and our prices are even set a little higher than most places. Now I have already had my credit card ran and signed the slip, but when I brought it to the Manager's attention he blew me off saying "that's the normal going rate for imports" which is a lie because at this same location they only charge $5 for a Samual Adams which is also listed as an import in their System. He also tried to tell me that it costs even more in Tampa just to justify the pricing....WHAT DOES TAMPA HAVE TO DO WITH OCALA?! Then 5 minutes later, one of the servers told us that both managers were now in the back looking at the prices in the system because they that was the wrong price anyway. And of course the manager never came back out to offer any retribution or even apologize for the mistake. I then asked to see another menu so that I could check and see what the prices were listed as and they weren't listed anywhere. They didn't even have them classified as domestic or import. Now I'm a firm believer in "if you have to ask, then you can't afford it, BUT this is definitely not the case!!! It's a matter of deception and price gouging at its best.

Decided on Horses and Hounds in Ocala for our weekend lunch adventure, after spending time…read moreattending the home and garden exposition at the World Equestrian Center. Once at the restaurant, we experienced an initial wait to be seated (10 minutes) Then after being seated, we had to exchange menu's for some reason, and there was some confusion as to who or whom would be our waiter/ waitress? We finally got our waiter "Chris" he was prompt, mater of fact, and professional. I ordered the spinach salad and a grilled chicken breast on the side, while Dawn ordered the fish and chips. The restaurant is clean with ample lighting over the booths and track lighting through out. I got to see a co-worker (friend) and her family which was pretty cool. The wait for service after our order was placed wasn't too long. The spinach salad was worth the wait and outstanding! The chicken was grilled to perfection and Dawn said her Fish and Chips with smashed peas were delicious. Our waiter, Chris made several trips to our table and made sure we were good to go. Overall, after a little minor and humorous amount of confusion; The meal and service turned out to be excellent. The price is about normal for the area, and just a little pricey for everyday dining. However, we will come back when we are back in the area.

My sister in law and her husband reside not far from this restaurant. We went there after visiting…read morethem and decided to spring for dinner somewhere they recommended. Sounded like a good choice, so off we went for what turned out to be quite a disaster! Now I'm not one to really ever give a bad review unless there were so many ridiculous unforgiveable mistakes and completely insane things done during a visit that made me quite angry enough to vent. THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE. My husband ordered the fish & shrimp dinner with steak fries done extra crispy, I ordered the beer cheese burger (before I knew how runny the beer cheese was) but with onion rings (an upcharge, but I don't really care for fries), my sister in law got the prime rib 8oz & ordered it medium well with a baked potato, my brother in law ordered a bowl of the broccoli cheese soup, a side order of mashed potatoes and one of macaroni & cheese (he recently had dental surgery and cannot chew well so needed soft food). The pretzel arrived we had ordered as an appetizer. It was barely warm, but we didn't care since we were starving! Time passed slowly, another 20 minutes went by. They cleared our pretzel hanger with the cups of dip that were pretty inedible and then another 10-15 minutes went by. I was just starting to get really anxious when finally our meals arrived. The waitress carried out the tray with our meals on it and starts to hand them out...and I notice there's no onion rings with my burger and no bowl of soup for my brother in law..."ummmm...what happened to the rest of our meal?" I ask. The waitress says "oh yeah...we're out of onion rings". "What?" I ask. "Can't you get something else?" the waitress asks me...not, WOULD you like something in its place, no, CAN'T was the word she used. "No, there's nothing else I really want." *I sigh and close the menu* "just give me the fries that normally come with the burger I guess", I say, knowing I'll never eat them. "But what about his soup?" I ask pointing to my brother in law. "We're out of the broccoli cheese right now, they'd have to fix a new batch and I would hate to make you wait for longer than you already have", she says to him "how about the tomato dill?", she asks him."No. I hate tomato soup", he says. "But I hear it's really good" she continues. *now he's getting angry* "NO" he says louder to her. "I don't LIKE TOMATO SOUP!" he insists. She turns on her heel and leaves. We're lucky she comes back with silverware and more than the little black drink napkins this time. We look at our plates closely, only to notice the food we'd been so looking forward to had obviously died in the window from sitting so long. The prime rib looks like it had been sitting there for almost a half hour and was rare, nowhere remotely CLOSE to medium well. My bottom bun is soggy from the watery beer cheese while sitting and the burger is cold. My husband's shrimp and fish, fried and steamed veggies are ice cold and look pathetic. The breading is claggy and mushy from oil and from sitting so long. My sister in law's baked potato is so stone cold that the butter won't even melt! Two little bowls (cups) of sides were all my brother in law got in the end. Both were cold. When we finally flagged the waitress down and told her this, she said it wasn't her fault, that she brought us the meals as soon as she was given them. She said she'd go get the manager for us, who arrived several minutes later. He said he'd take some percentage off our meals and was sorry; but here's the catch. I NEVER got my premium side of onion rings. I ended up with fries. That's what normally COMES WITH THE BURGER anyways. The burger and fries meal is listed as $13.00 and the premium sides are an extra $5.50. My burger with onion rings on the bill was $18.00, BUT I NEVER GOT THE ONION RINGS. They never took them off the bill. And the bowl of soup my brother in law never got? Still on the bill. The manager gave us a discount of $27 and change. But wait a minute. $14 worth of that bill was items we never received! So in actuality, he only gave us $13 and change off of a almost $100 bill for horribly greasy, cold food. What a rip off! When a customer asks you for a to-go box and you leave and come back without it and they remind you again, then you leave the second time and come back without it AGAIN...DON'T SNAP AT THEM when they AGAIN say "we really need a to-go box!". It's your tip on the line. Don't turn to me and say loudly,"I just got it and set it on the counter in the kitchen! I have to get it, so give me a minute please!!". I've asked you three times for one so don't go snapping at ME! Our first and last impression of Horse and Hounds Restaurant? Horrible customer service, terrible food, extremely high prices that do not match the food in quality NOR quantity. 2/10 definitely do not recommend and we will never go back.

Spent a sisters weekend in Mount Dora and had to try out The Frog and the Monkey and so glad we did…read more Perfect spot for bar eats... burgers, wings, salads, all the good stuff. My sister had the prime dip and I went for the turkey brie - both were delicious and super satisfying. Service was great too - everyone was friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. The drinks were priced great and the soup and burgers were so good! But I went 01/10/2026 at 230pm (busy rush for a pub on a Saturday) and I ordered a burger and soup because they have a soup of the day each day, who doesn't love that. Well my soup came out quick and I was pleased with that, it was chicken orzo soup, so good! Well I start getting to the soup and thought oh wow they put cheese in here, didn't tell me it would have cheese and I'm rubbing it around in my mouth cause I like to taste my food you know? Well it wasn't cheese...... IT WAS SOMEONES CHEWED MINTY GUM IN MY MOUTH STUCK IN MY TEETH I got sick (in a napkin of course) and informed my server, ran to the bathroom some more getting sick and when I came back my server informed me I wouldn't pay for anything, I made a comment that maybe the dishwasher didn't do a good job but the server told me he wish that was the case that it was intended for an employee on break and he thought it was mine in the window and it wasn't, he apologized, well I took a couple shots of whiskey to kill the bacteria hopefully. I asked for a manger to come talk to me because I work in the food industry and I don't feel it was handled correctly, he informed me the manger was not there he had to text her to get the approval for the bill. So I was definitely taken back. I have never had anything like this happen to me and the two girls I was with also tasted the soup because I said it didn't taste right and they was literally given a bill for their 15$ burgers and I got a 10% card to hopefully come back. I have called twice to talk to a manger and have not gotten through to anyone, I've seen messages online to suspected owners and still nothing back, I was told the guy with the gauges in the kitchen is the one that did it, I woken up with a sore throat today and will be going to get tested and they will be informed of my medical bills by a lawyer. PS my friend ordered a burger Togo a few hours later for her aunt I went in to get the burger and pay with my 10% card and the short haired short server with glasses was seen laughing at the computer about the situation, I just don't think it was funny at all.
