During my most recent Beecher's trip a few weeks ago, my boyfriend ordered a grilled cheese and their salmon mac and cheese. I had a few bites of both, and they were delicious. The grilled cheese was perfectly crispy, and I loved the crunch it made when I first bit into it. The gooey-ness of the cheese in the macaroni was also incredible, and I loved the texture. No "hello," no acknowledgment nothing. Almost immediately after, another white customer came in and she greeted her and began helping her right away. The difference in treatment was very noticeable. Throughout the time we were in the store, she kept looking at me in a strange and uncomfortable way. It felt like we were being judged rather than welcomed as paying customers. There was no effort to assist us, check on us, or make us feel comfortable in the space. Customer service should be equal and respectful to everyone who walks through the door. Instead, I left feeling ignored and singled out. I don't take accusations like this lightly, but the experience genuinely felt discriminatory. I hope management takes this seriously and evaluates how customers are being treated. No one should feel unwelcome in a business because of how they look.
