It's nice to have Market Fresh in downtown Bellevue, particularly where many office buildings are, including mine, as it makes for a convenient place to grab and go for lunch with its buffet offerings. More than anything, you know you can count on Market Fresh when you need something quick at not a hefty price, which is hard these days in Bellevue. My colleagues and I have been to Market Fresh a few times and usually, the buffet offerings are the same. But they have a little bit of everything to satisfy your lunch cravings. And what I like about it is that since you pick your own items, you're able to just mix and match and create your own lunch for whatever you're in the mood for or are have special dietary needs. The selection isn't large, but it's enough to choose from and you get a variety. Just remember that they weigh your food by the pound at less than 10 bucks a pound. Located on the ground level of an office building near the transit center, expect only office workers who frequent this spot. There's usually one staff member there to cash you out, and they do allow you to sample the food beforehand if you ask. One thing I hate is it's a complete self service buffet place but they still expect tips. It bothers me tipping for no service. I am one of the most indecisive people ever when it comes to lunch time, so when I am that unsure, my default pick is to go to Market Fresh for lunch. They have a wide variety of different foods, from salad (to plenty of toppings), to cold options (fruit, pasta salad, avocado salad, etc.), to warm options (fried rice, noodles, tofu, chicken, salmon, pasta, macaroni, spinach lasagna, fried rolls, etc.). I believe the price per pound is $7.99/lb but they have a happy hour for discounted prices. So if your box comes at a high price, it is due to what you put in your box (i.e. You put all pasta, fruit in your box? It will be pricy. You put only salad in your box? Probably cheaper.). There are enough options that are offered here where I feel like I do not eat the same thing every day. Oh! And they also offer breakfast as well (something I learned very recently....). They offer a variety of options for breakfast as well, with different yogurts and SO many different toppings (i.e. granola, fruit, etc.) and warm options (i.e. egg, bacon, sausage, biscuit + gravy, etc.). Sometimes I come here to get breakfast and then check out the happy hour later in the afternoon for a late small lunch. :) I highly recommend this place if you run out of food options in downtown Bellevue/don't have any cravings for anything. I try to avoid the food trucks in DT Bellevue as much as possible, especially when it rains so often times I find myself in line for Market Fresh. If you're an experienced Market Fresh'er you know what to avoid and when to go. Preferably don't go after the lunch rush because some of the food there is pretty stale and smelly. For example, if you want fish, go before noon because it's still hot and edible. Same goes for the egg rolls, as they tend to be all mushy and greasy as time goes by. I have some serious concerns about the quality of some of the food here.. 3/5 times the salmon was bad. Good variety of food. I love it that when you can't seem to decide what you're hungry for, they have different options here, so you can get a little bit of everything, or a lotta bit of everything. I wanted to try everything, but it sure adds up; a little bit pricey. But I expected that, since it is Bellevue. The veggies are really good. I liked the green beans, mushrooms, and the avocado salad. The Chinese food was good to, but still kind of reminded me of the Chinese food you get and Chinese buffets or fast food Chinese. I usually try to hit up their happy hour which goes from 2:30 to 3 p.m. That's not a very ideal time frame, but for half-priced by the pound food, it's worth it! The only downside is that half the food is gone by then... and some of the fried stuff that was once hot and crispy, would turn cold and soggy... not that great, BUT it's convenient and cheap. They have really fresh and a good variety of cold and hot foods to choose from. My favorite is their different pasta salads and their noodles. Their meatballs are pretty darn good too, and service is always smiley and friendly. :) It's kind of sad that the foods that I love to eat tend to be the heavier stuff... so then the total comes out to around $10... which is too much for the stuff I put in my container! But anyway, if you don't mind a smaller variety of food, the happy hour deal here is quite the steal. read more

I really like coming here for lunch. It can be slightly more expensive than it is worth, but it is convenient, making it worth it. The food is always fresh, and I have never had a negative experience here. If you are in to salad and other standard buffet fare, you'll definitely be happy at Market Fresh -- especially if you're looking for a (possibly) healthy lunch. I don't know why you would complain about the fact that they have a price differential on salmon unless you're just trying to rip them off. In theory this is great--pick what you want and however much you want from a wide variety of options, and be in and out in five to ten minutes. In reality, it is not. I've eaten here exactly four times and have gotten stomach problems exactly four times, always in the middle of the night after I've been here for lunch. I didn't think I'd get sick from eating here because a) I eat raw fish and at sketchy establishments in Seattle and have never gotten sick from any food place in the USA and b) it's managed by a corporate office building and c) the food I get here (admittedly delicious salad, teriyaki chicken, sweet & sour chicken, grilled veg) I eat regularly elsewhere with no problems. However, each time I've gotten sick, Market Fresh has been the common denominator. I just came here yesterday, and noticed the "okay" food safety rating, which confirms my suspicions. I enjoyed their salmon plate and it was a great place to stop by while walking through Pike Place. You can get a great paleo-veggie-vegan-virtuous lunch for less than $10, and it's a ton of fresh food. The line goes fast despite it being long during lunch. I saw this place several times walking by the building so I tried it few days ago and it was great. I did not try any of the Hot items but I made myself a salad from the salad bar and I got some fresh fruits. You pay based on how much your plate weigh so you need to be careful there. I talked to the owner who told me that they try to serve good food and they use vegetable oil to cook or fry any of the hot food and they don't use any Pork products which was good enough for me. I will go back. The salad was fresh, they have many great selections of salad dressing including Olive Oil. Been wanting to try this place and not only did I get to but I also got a good deal on it, too! Kind of reminds me of Whole Foods but with less options. The place is quite small, but it does what it needs to do. I really enjoyed the orange chicken but the orange/pineapple tofu (forgot the name exactly) was the star of my plate! The tofu was crispy on the outside with the right amount of sweet sauce and soft tofu on the inside.. YUM! I also liked their mac n cheese. I did not enjoyed the overcooked and dry salmon, but maybe it was fresh and juicy when it first came out and not sitting under the heat lamp for hours when I got to it. This is very close to me so I could frequent this place. Plus, it's close to the Bellevue transit center. So, you can hop off, get food, and go back to work or where ever or you can get food right before you hop on the bus- if you leave early from work bc this place closes early at 3pm! WAY WAY overpriced!! I had a total "GOTCHA!" experience at this self-serve grocery market style salad buffet. After getting my salad, rice and tofu they rang me up to say $17 and some change!?!? I honestly could have had a nice lunch at a sit down restaurant for that price. My word of advice... Nothing special, but I'm glad it's there. I can be in and out with a fresh lunch, comprised only of what I want, in about two minutes. A big, colorful fresh salad is quite affordable. Throw in a couple of fake sushi rolls and some overbaked salmon for a little protein and I'm a happy Bellevue cubicle warrior. But the overbaked salmon and its buddies lukewarm gyoza and greasy-looking chinese food don't give the hot foods area a lot of appeal. This is more a salad/fresh fruit/green bean salad kind of lunch place. Which is exactly what I need some days. read more

I'm reviewing Market Fresh based on what it is - a quick, takeaway buffet joint. For what it is, it's pretty good. I work only a few blocks away, so this is a nice change of pace from the food options in my office building. The salad is always fresh and the topping selection is expansive. I've never tried their hot food, but the visual quality seems to vary. Sometimes, things look good, sometimes they don't. I can say that I like their steamed vegetables - which is a lot coming from someone who usually despies steamed veggies. The space is always clean and there is rarely a long wait to checkout. The girls there are friendly and efficient. Like someone else here said, I can pop in to get a nice fresh salad made exactly the way I like and pop back out within a few minutes. read more

An excellent idea for lunch. They have a wide selection of delicious cold and hot foods good for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The Avocado salad is one of the tastiest items on the menu. I also really like the oven roasted butternut squash and the cheesy potatoes. They have a selection of different meats from which the spicy chicken is likely my favorite. They generally do not have a very long line but even when they do it moves fast. The food is priced by weight (~6.89/per pound at the time of this review). Suggestions: For a less expensive meal choose items that do not contain water...in other words avoid watermelon and other fruits as well as the avocado salad. If you are getting any of the hot meats especially the spicy chicken avoid the compostable container...use the plastic recyclable container instead. The compostable container will actually melt and leak through! You've been warned. read more

If I could, I'd give this 4 stars for the salad bar, and only 2 for the hot food - which I guess, works out to 3 total. :) In comparison to the other salad bar down the street (something Organic?), this place is WAY better. $6.99 a pound, instead of $8.99 a pound - and their selection is huge-ish. My favorite part is the giant mounds of fresh green, yellow and red peppers. But they've also got all the good toppers, lots of cheese varieties (including cottage), croutons, baby shrimp, chicken, etc. The hot food is usually looking pretty limp, and like it's been in those heated bins for a mighty long time. I tried a piece of chicken and some gyoza. My verdict = eh. Not worth it. The faux-sushi rolls were just okay, but I'd skip those too. Only head here if you're craving a do-it-yourself salad. Not only do they have hot food - including salmon, fried shrimp, spring rolls, potstickers, and various asian dishes - but they also have a tasty green bean and sesame salad, seaweed salad (delicious), and avocado salad as well. They also have some basic sushi rolls. It isn't terribly expensive (depending on what you get) and the food is fresh. I like the seaweed salad and the salmon especially. The asian dishes I've had mixed luck with. All in all, you can get a nice healthy meal for about $5 and in about five minutes. Hard to beat that. The nearby atrium in the same building is a nice place to sit and enjoy your meal, FYI. read more

This is my goto lunch. They have a great selection of breakfast and lunch items. The salad is all organic, fresh and they hace a variety of vegetables. The homemade dressings are yum nd make me want to eat more salad. There have an amazing hot bar and the steamed veggies and spinach lasagna are delicious. The hot bar has breakfast and lunch items. The breakfast potatoes are my favorite as they hve a lot of peppers and onions which adds a good flavor. I like the veggie scramble too. Other than that the cold options like yogurt, cereal, fruit etc is also there. I like that they hvae a flat rate but dislike that I always end up buying more. Decided to come by here after a quick check on yelp for good lunch places and I'm glad I did. They have a variety of different choices of salads fixings, already made salads, american, italian, chinese, they try to have it all.. I decided to get a noodle salad, veggie lasagna, pineapple chicken, an eggroll, and some curry, a little bit of everything, well just enough to fill up a togo box. Everything tasted good, nothing tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time. And I love how they weigh it by the pound. I would definitely recommend people to come visit and I have, if I find myself walking around here again, I will definitely come visit again for lunch. read more

Market Fresh finally opened late June after more than a year of delay. This is mainly a lunch (buffet) spot for many businesses around down town Bellevue. It is located in the lobby of Key Center building. I have been to the place twice now. First time, I had salad, hand rolled sushi, Kalbi-style meat and some potatoes. Salad is fresh and there are about 6 choice of dressing with variety of toppings. Potatoes and meat were good but sushi was not so tasty. Second time, I had some orange chicken, steamed rice, chow mein egg noodles, and some steam vegetables. Orange chicken was hard and very chewy (barely warm). Steamed rice had too much water. Chow mein noodle was also very hard and in cold side. Steamed vegetables were just ok. I went around 12:15 p.m. and there were about 7-8 people going through the lines so food should not have been cold and hard. It seems that they don't pay attention to the detail and I won't go back unless I am out of choice and out of time. Portion is average for the price you pay. $6.29/lb. read more

This salad bar is not near as extensive as Whole Foods and there's no seating but the selection is adequate if you work in nearby buildings. I have been going to Market Fresh for the past two years. Today they tried to weigh my side sauce of Wasabi and Hot Soy. Not once in two years have they done this. I expressed this to both women behind the counter and they both insisted I was wrong while giving me the EVIL eye. The reaction from both of them was rude to say the least. I tried the Asian food. I never heard of this place before and although I walked by the building pretty often, I didn't notice this place from the outside. When my friend took me here, I played it safe and chose their Chow Mien. I prepared myself for the standard level of a Panda Express food quality. I was pleased to announce the food was not like the bland chow mien of Panda Express AT ALL. It has quite rich oriental-y flavor. I also picked some of their sushi, which was okay.. and their steamed veggies - also okay. I do NOT like their Orange Chicken, though. They charge per pound, cashiers were friendly.
